  1. Some people says there is new requirement that you have to show proof that you are on pension, just be 50 and have the money is not enough anymore, you must have proof of pension from your country.

This is what is required if you seek a Non O visa from your home country in Europe.

So again, are you 100% sure that the only thing the require in Vietiane is 50 year and proof of money?

    For ex read this tread

    http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/topic/923973-have-there-been-recent-changes-to-the-retirement-visa/

If this is true a lot of us will have problem so quite important to know
  2. Are you 100% sure it´s still possible to buy a Non Immigrant 90 days in Laos without beeing married or have another spouse in Thailand?

Exactly what papers do you need to show the embassy in Laos?

The thing is I heard people say that Non Im now only can be bought in your home country but maybe not true?

  3. I am not sure that I want an O-A. I want an extension of stay based on retirement. Looking at previous posts It looks like I may not be able to convert my non Imm B. Reading the info at the Royal Thai embassy it looks like I need a non Imm O-A or is their another way of doing this?

Received the extension of stay on a Non Immigrant B Visa 2013 in HDY. No problems, no questions ask. Just had to show the regular paperwork

    With a canceled workpermit?

  4. So, the only loophole available for 3-week-on/3-week-off oil workers is now entry visa exempt through airports. This is tough for Thailand to prevent as the requirements for air tickets and money is satisfied. Having a limit of 90 days per year (as at land borders) is not really practicable. All they could do, perhaps, is have a red stamp on exit like "no visa exempt entry allowed until ...." that airlines had to look for. Otherwise, the xenophobes are winning.

As an oilworker this is a good visa for me smile.png

What happens after 6 month? Will they allow you to get a new METV again and again...

  5. Did you bother to learn any Thai during your two years there ? I moved to Hong Kong out of Uni. I took Chinese in College. Also went the IT / industrial automation route. Thailand is a mess and is pretty much the place where ambition goes to die. Most people in the region work in more dynamic places and use Thailand as a second home or did.

You really need to find a life's calling. Then you need to obtain skills that allow you to do what you want to do. The easiest language to learn is probably Malay which is also spoken in Indonesia. Indonesia will be the second largest economy in Asia.

There is a world food shortage, so if you have an interest in agriculture, that may be something to look into. There is a bit o tech in farming these days as well.

If you apply yourself, look further afield than Thailand toward its neighbors, you will fair better.

Yes I did learn Thai for 2 years so can speak it to an intermediate level I would say. I am continuing to study it now in the UK but just on my own and with my girlfriend. I am also learning how to read and wright it better.

Thanks for the advice and I will look onto other countries in the area.

I think you should brush up on your grammar and spelling first before you apply for any jobs...

Haha my grammer is bad because I'm typing on my phone and and typing fast. I'm sorry if you cant understand what I am saying, maybe ask someone who could have a guess at what I mean.

    Tombuk.

    You got pm

  6. Doesn´t matter where you try to leave the country, they will catch you anyway and charge you 20.000 baht and you will get banned for 5 years.

The only way to not get banned is to go to immigration and turn your self in, if you just try to leave the country means they catch you will overstay and then you will be banned.

This is what they wrote with the new regulation.

The new regulations have not come into law yet so he won't be banned for 5 years.

Do you have an link to the source for this?

IM wrote that this new rules was taken into system long time ago and those who will get caught with overstay will be banned and those who turn them self in only have to pay the fine.

The new rules that immigration announced in May of last year have never been approved by a higher authority and probably never will be.

There have been many people that have paid the fine on departure from the country without a problem.

No body gets banned. Even those caught with an overstay are only taken to IDC pay the fine and are deported,

Sounds nice but do we have to trust your word here or do you have a link to a source?

Member since 4 month, but you seem to know more than our =Global Moderators=

So you have an app that tells how long time I have been in Thailand depending on my membership here?

  10. Rayong and Pattaya are not the only places on the eastern seaboard. There are Si Ratcha, Bang Saen and Chonburi. No beach at Chonburi but it does have a seaside promenade. Also many smaller places along the way.

Work wise, probably more opportunity around Si Ratcha with all the new development in the area.

Yes u are right, there is a lot of places in Thailand, but not where u want to live as falang...

And Hua Hin is one of them, left after one night and went to Chaam. Each to his own.

If u prefer cha am i assume you are a loner or quite old?

When you come to Hua Hin, dont miss the evening food market in Soi 88 just over the railroad and next to 7/11.

  13. Easy answer.
    Hua Hin!
I have friends in Rayong and had plans to move there 2 years ago so we went there to explore the area and look for house to rent.
After 3 days we went back to Hua Hin, you can not compare Rayong and Hua Hin at all, Rayong is a small very boring place with ugly beaches and very difficult to find a nice house to rent.

Hua Hin beats any other place in Thailand when it comes to live long time.
