We haven't had a prolonged bear market since Fed started doing QE in 2008. It has kept bond rates low and injected liquidity to the system. Perhaps this time could be different if the orange doofus continues with the tariff shenanigans and inflation shoots up. That would limit Fed's wiggle room significantly. Will be interesting to see how this plays out. A proper old school bear market would be an absolute shock for newer investors.

There is certainly a lot room for improvement in this department. Thais have a fairly low average IQ (91, IIRC) so pedestrian safety and traffic safety in general will probably never reach 1st world levels but that doesn't mean a lot cannot be done. Even Vietnam is IMO much better in this regard which is really telling.

You are confusing two things here. CRS and worldwide taxation. In these countries you have to declare foreign income because these countries have a worldwide tax system. It has nothing to do with CRS. If you want to find an example of a country that is in CRS and doesn't require tax residents to declare foreign income then look into countries that are in CRS and don't tax foreign income. Such as Singapore for example. The CRS may very well have a grand mission statement where it says that the aim is to stop tax evasion bla bla bla. But what the countries have actually agreed to do is just share a lousy excel sheet with certain information about bank accounts. Nothing more, nothing less. To think that the CRS would mandate the participating countries to individually verify that no one is evading taxes is just absurd.

One thing to keep in mind is that Thailand was bullied into joining the CSR, it wasn’t their own aspiration. They dragged their heels for a long time but finally had to do it to prevent their banks being greylisted. Some countries just join these things in name only to get the Western nanny states of their back and never really properly implement them. Hopefully Thailand is one of them.
