The reason why the single entry Non-O was issued will determine what your options are.
If you are married to a Thai or have Thai children, your name on the birth certificate, you can apply for a 60 day extension for "visiting your Thai family".
If the Non-O was issued to "explore retirement options", then you can only get a 7 day extension . Both extensions cost 1900 baht. If you are married to a Thai you have to take your wife, a copy of hre ID card and housebook.
If you cannot apply for a 60 day extension to visit your Thai family, then your best option would be to do a border run and get a 30 day visa exempt entry when you reenter. You will have to enter a neighboring country and the visa costs differ: Cambodia, $30, Laos, $35, Myanmar, 500 baht, Malaysia, free.
Someone suggested calling your Embassy, that would be a total waste of time as they have no idea of what the visa and extension requirments are. The Thai Embassies don't even know!
Is it possible to get a 30 day visa by crossing into Laos and returning the same day (I am trying to avoid an overnight stay there) believe it's something to do with the G7 countries but can't find the thread relating to that topic.
Bye the way I am from the UK.
Thanks guys in advance the info given is so helpful

Tuk Tuk from the bus station the consulate 60 baht? That must have been 60 baht each for 4 of you at least...last time I went there the minimum they all wanted was 100 baht and that was 2 years ago.

do a border run
It amazes me that so many farangs rely on expats to do their homework for them instead of calling their embassies. Well intended advise does not assure a good end result when it comes to visas, but this seems to be the biggest topic, by far, which is addressed in this foium. In the end, I think personal responsibility in finding out what is required is the only way to get the very best answer instead of relying on a stranger and not knowing if they are correct in their advise.
So in your opinion all the expats on this website have no experience of visa requirements and their valuable advice is irrelevant.
Please tell me then why thousands of people who have taken their "irrelevant advice" have saved time and a great deal of expense from their experience of similar circumstances...bye the way it's not "homework" its advice!

Get an extension.
Can I get an extension at the local immigration office or do I have to leave the country?

Anyone with recent experience on getting from Udon Thani to Vientiane for a visa renewal please.
I need help with ..Times to leave ...Bus or Tuk Tuk.....is it possible to get from Udon to Vientiane within the same day to submit the visa application?
Ant tips to avoid the rip off merchants and finally returning as soon as I get the stamp.
Thank you all.

Single entry non"O" visa expires in the next few days. I want to stay another 26 days what are my options please. I am a British passport holder if that helps.
-
Looking at the options available...There aren't any ...Your going to after face the music.
Screwing the bank for 70,000 euros is no big deal, banks are insured against those crimes. Your mistake is the entry visa stamp.
Good Luck mate !

Regarding your double entry visa, read this thread as it pertains to extensions:
http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/topic/774846-double-entry-tourist-visa-extension/
Regarding will $30K Australian be enough to live on for one year: depends upon your lifestyle. That's what - roughly $800K thb or $67K/month? People live here on a lot less. (I've never been to Krabi so I can't comment on costs there....suspect it's a bit higher due to the beach locale.)
I agree 67,000 baht is quite a lot of money here even for 2 people. But from personal experience you will spend the most in the first 4-5 weeks trying to get yourself familiar with the life style so it's not a bad idea to stick to a budget in the time period.
You may be thinking of buying a motorbike for convenience which will save you money on baht buses and taxis etc. For that you'll need an IP (international Licence) saves paying traffic fines as they are much keener in the tourist spots.
Budget it well and you love the experience. Enjoy!

There is no reason to spend 2 nights or even one night now. They are doing visas on the same day you apply. Apply by 11 am and get your passport back at 3:30 pm.
That's great news!
I thought it was the "sign in before 12 noon and collect after 2pm the next day"
The only reason why I was thinking of 2 nights because I could not get there before 3pm so hence 2 nights required.
All I need is an extra 30 days so will this be OK get on the same day you think?
Thanks in advance.
You won't get it on the same day when you arrive at 3 pm. You can apply for it until 11.30, sometimes until noon and pick your visa up in the afternoon.
Have you already applied for a 30 day visa at your local immigration?
I enter Thailand on a Non"O" visa 90 days single entry and I was advised previously on this site that they only do the 30 day extension on a tourist visa at the local immigration and I would after leave the country to obtain an additional visa.?
Hence a trip to Savanakhet.

Could anyone who has been recently to Savanakhet recommend a place to stay for a couple of nights close to any bars or a bit of nightlife?
-
I wonder who owns the Chotima Driving School......
If you are suspicious, I would suggest that you investigate and give us an answer, rather than an off the cuff accusation. If you don't investigate, then you really don't care. I think you would agree with this?
At least KarenBravo's comment got a "popular" star ...plus it's what everyone thought as soon as it was announced.

What a great place to renew visa's or obtain advice.
Recently went to Mukdahan Immigration office for letter of residency although my home is in a different Jangwat I was welcomed with politeness and both officers on duty spoke good English.
The ticket machine for service was switched off and when I asked why "they smiled and said we never have queues" !

Seems like a lot of trouble to just stay in Thailand. Why not just get an ED visa?
Or just don't bother at all ...when the chase is on catch a fishing boat to Laos lol

If you are married to a Thai or are the parent of a Thai you can apply for a 60 day extension of stay at immigration.
Could this be done with a 90 day single entry non "O" visa ? I am married to a Thai and we have a daughter born here.
-
Thats great guys as I've all this sorted already...no pictures,
maps or finantials...Thats easy then. Great.
Thanks.
Bye the way - Take the wife if you possibly can, I have seen a couple of instances where they get a little over re-active and communication becomes a problem.

On a single entry 90 day O-visa the LTD will only grant you another one year temporary dl. To get a 5 year dl you have to be on a long stay visa (O-multy, 12 months) or extension ( retirement, marriage). Also you will need a certificate of residency from immigration, they may or may not give to you on a Single entry O-visa.
I do honestly believe that there is nothing written "in stone" when dealing with the immigration authorities in Thailand.
I applied with a single entry 90 day "O" visa and even outside the Jangwat (county) where I live and obtained the letter of residency.
Simple service fee of 300 baht and done.

He may have been standing on the steps filming, those trains jerk a lot and if he wasn't holding on firmly with one hand it would be easy to fall.
Most probably the correct statement...RIP

I have a friend who recently got his renewed on a tourist visa I dont know if your supposed to be able to do it or not though, it seems to me its dependent on who's at the desk
I definitely agree with that after todays experience : took all the relevant paperwork in to the Immigration Office and all he wanted to see was my passport 2 photo's and my old Thai licence ..300 baht and happy days...in and out in less than 20 mins
Happy Happy days ....obtained my renewed licence today with a score of 45 out of 50 ..just got in with the minimum 95% pass rate required !!
-
If the enter before date on your visa is February 15th that is the last day you can get a new 90 entry. After that it would be a visa exempt entry that would be 15 days at a border crossing unless you are from a G7 country.
I would make a trip out and back to get another 90 days before then.
Very true information quoted above: only met a guy in a similar situation and he was told the exact same advice from the Immigration Office in Mukdahan.

Easy, go to your local Immigration Office... They all have an Information Counter...
Ask for a Extentin of Say form I believe it is a TM 7 form and also ask for list of requirements needed to accompany it to take to Immigration to get New Visa. It is in English and they have it already printed out. but it might be under their counter.
I have done for many years, I believe your fee is also 1,900 Baht. I know all the temp visa are this amount. Retirement Visa is also. You can get single entry or multiple entry stamps at same time. I believe they are 1,000 and 3,800 Baht also. Getting them at this time saves time if you leave Thailand for any reason.
(don't have to go to Office if for some reason you need to leave Kingdom for any unexpected reason. I have always carried a single entry for just this purpose. Some I had never used.... But it was just security! Understand?)
Easy!
Thanks Guys ...when explained in a polite informative manner it is really appreciated ..!

Sent from my GT-S5360 using Thaivisa Connect Thailand mobile app
Just back from taking my test today and failed at 2 attempts ! First attempt I managed a result of 41 out of 50 ... 2nd attempt 43 out of 50 with totally different questions the second time ? ..When asking for an explanation was told I needed 45 minimum and "come back tomorrow try again....seems like you get 2 shots at it per day no charge for a failure. Back to the drawing board for me lol

Officially you need not visa but extension of stay to obtain 5 year license. But you never know. Since you already have a Thai license Idp or UK license don't' add anything.
Sorry but what is "extension of stay" mean ? Do you think my chances are good with the info I have supplied above in the original post?
international drivers licence..

The IDP (International drivers permit) can be obtained through associations such as the AA or RAC in the UK by post and sent to your address in Thailand. There are online companies that do this for you at a minimal fee.
Depends which country you are from?
