I'm constantly entertained by misspelled signs and menus.

One of my all-time favorite signs was in Phuket over a decade ago.  It said this:

"Keep Wales Tidy".  I can only guess that some high-ranking official went to Wales, saw the signs and came back and ordered that a bunch be made.

I saw a menu once that was very nicely laid out and it had different categories such as Chicken, Pork, Fish, Prawn and Crap!  The spelling error was consistent too.  They offered Steamed Crap, Crap Curry, Sweet & Sour Crap and lots more… yum, yum. 

For breakfast they offered the usual, plus Corn Flecks.

I am new on here so please bear with me. My question is that i come yearly to Chaweng area of Samui on holiday with 2 or 3 of my closest male friends who immediately go off to the girlie bars.

I would like to know where i can meet other single farang women and men with whom to have a good laugh and conversation? Last year i did meet some really nice people but i had already been there for about 10 days and i was going mad listening to the perpetual caterwauling of my friends "girlfriends"!!!

I'm over 30 too. Older and wiser. Wouldn't want to go back to my confusing times.

have stayed for the past few years at Chaweng Gardens Beach in front of Burger King. Price is 1000 with a 10% discount if you stay for more than a week. We always had a beach side room. There are only a few up on stilts! the rest are at ground level. It is quiet and away from the noise of the main drag and the restaurant is good with evening bbq every night and the usual Eagles Greatest Hits even though i think they had Robbie Williams this year!! The rooms are cleaned every day and have the usual shower room, cable tv, mini bar, ac etc.

It also has a security guard who seems to sit in a deck chair all night staring at the sea in his full uniform regalia but does make the place feel safer.
