Hi All,

I've overstayed by 10 months and I'm leaving to go to Cambodia. I understand that I will definitely have to pay 20,000 baht overstay fine, and under current laws I will probably get banned for 1 year if I turn myself in.

What I'd like to know is if this law is being enforced at all borders, and which one gives me the best chance of not getting banned. I plan to return to start a business here.

Why don't you use the service of Mr.Claudio so his people can assist you at the Laos border.Just make sure your passport is 6 months valid and you have the 20k.The immigration police will interview you for a bit,just be polite and it will be ok.

Like what other posters said, you get jail time only if they caught you but if you surrender and pay the 20k fine either at the airport or Laos border...you'll be just fine.

The pretties are getting punished because a lot of them are not only trying to sell cars but their bodies too.If you are not aware of what really goes at that motor show...you will be surprised that there are more pretties bought than the cars itself.

I'm NOT a Thailand lover who considers this country as a paradise and its inhabitants as a superior race.

I took taxis millions of times since 25 years in Bangkok.

I had never any argument with any taxi driver. The worst case is when one pretends to do not have change (well, I went to a 7-Eleven).

Once, it happened a driver missed an expressway exit => he took the next U turn => he apologized then asked me the amount corresponding to the distance of the exit he missed.

Stop Taxi Driver Bashing please because this is the direct way to the Farang Bashing.

Well, by the way, about this incident, no report in serious press when it's so easy to find the driver AND the tourists, even if they are back already to Europe.

Same here, almost 20 years and so far (thank heavens) I have not come across those crazy drivers.There were just 3-4 times when the taxi drivers were annoyed for not wanting to take a U-turn which they said was far. I usually just ask them to stop and get another cab as I don't like entertaining negative energy;p

Has anyone considered that this could be the fault of the tourists? Maybe the tourists refused to pay the highway toll, because they thought that the taxi driver was cheating them. Not everyone knows that they are supposed to pay the toll themselves, and not the driver. The story about the driver missing a turn, and not wanting to turn back seems a little far fetched.

It's not really far-fetch given that there are some taxi drivers who do not give a damn at all.And even if they didn't want to pay the toll way like you suggested, there's a toddler w them.The driver could have just add the toll way fee later on, at least if the tourists didn't agree they won't be dealing w it on an express way.

I showed this to my Thai fiance and he said it's ridiculous but also told me that he can be my sexy plumber and anything I want him to be lol;)))

The Chinese and Japanese are also complaining about the behavior of Thais when visiting their countries. It's like taking revenge on each other and may the rudest and most obnoxious one wins:s

Just after David & Hannah were murdered with a hoe (allegedly), there was a Norwegian lady diver on Koh Tao who died after being hit on the head by the propeller of a boat. When I read about that the first thing that occurred to me was how similar the physical profile of a propeller blade and a Thai-style hoe must be. Both made from sheet steel. Both around 2mm 3mm thick with sharp edges. In fact, I would imagine that if you hit someone on the head with a hoe with enough force to kill them, then put the body into the water it could easily be accepted that the injury was caused by a propeller blade.

I wonder how many times "Struck by propeller blade" has been accepted as the cause of death for fatalities involving foreigners on Koh Tao...

Think of the number of times foreigners fall from the balcony in Bangkok and some other parts of TH.

So what he's saying is, the British insistence on reporting truth is damaging the Thai tourism industry...

An angry reaction...hmmm...could that be a sign of guilt?Why is he still covering what most of the Thais and even some foreigners already know?I have a Thai friend living in Koh Tao and he said there's a "he who must not be named" in that island.

In my point of view,every nationality has their share of scum bags.I've seen more Russians who got in fights than English/British people.As a matter of fact,the Brits are some of the friendliest people I've met.They seem or sound so polite even when they are mad.
