  1. Angered???...Gee I wonder why?...Time to wake up Mr Mayor and stop your crying

The British press have got it wrong again (as they did with Hannah and David's murder).

The murdered woman's family have stated that she died of natural causes and not under suspicious circumstances!!

If they (the UK gutter press) had written about there being a Mafia culture on Koh Toh then fair enough BUT linking this death to Mafia gangs is bang out of order and I don't blame the Mayor for being enraged about shoddy/outrageous reporting.

Perhaps you can clear something up for me? The family stated she died from natural causes based on the fact the tweeted that she'd bought some antibiotics and was never heard from again, correct? So who told the family their daughter died from natural causes? In the article it says "Police have yet to determine the cause of death for Annesley". Perhaps you can clear this up for us please?

She was also taking tramadol (strong pain killer), valium (strong anti-anxiety drug) and drinking alcohol as well as the anti-biotiics for her chronic chest infection. There was no signs of violence, theft, bruises on the body or anything being disturbed in the room!!

Her parents do not see her death as being suspicious (they have stated so) so where does the Mafia come in on this?

Now please tell how and why you agree with the UK press in implying that her death has something to do with them.

  3. Sure have a look around Hat Yai.....should be a real blast!

But seriously, the furthest south I have been is Krabi, and I found the people there to be unsmiling and simply rude. Completely opposite to my experiences in central and north Thailand. Not sure if this is a Muslim thing or not, but it was prevalent with staff in the hotel, restaurants and travel agencies.

Yes, its a Muslim thing - I have experienced this several times in Krabi.

Although they are indeed miserable and unsmiling (even unfriendly and unhelpful) , they are much more honest people than regular Thais.

  4. In a country of 65,000,000 people with 2 different sides, how can a public opinion survey of only 1,840 accurately tell whether prople are genuinely satisfied.

A poll of this size is probably accurate to + or - 3% so between 89 and 95% of the people think that this government is doing a satisfactory job. I think that this reasonably reflects that they are being well received in what they are doing.

They could always do a poll of say 30,000,000 or so in 2016 when the elections have been made free and fair (without any influence from fugitives such as Thaksin (and Yingluck?) lying to the people again) in order to get elected.

  5. ` Enough time Parrot. I win!!!

Your quest was in vain as I knew it would be. I hereby deem that Thaksin was a detrimental force in creating Thailand's woes for well over a decade and that you have failed miserably to produce any evidence to the contrary.

Seems as though you are a 'dead parrot' - in the scheme of things that is as you appear to have stuttered your last stutter, at least regards this particular topic.

Seem you set the rules, play the game and declared yourself the winner. Priceless. Much the same as the coup leader.

The thing is, I set a challenge that I knew I would win and he never took it up as he is 'on the wrong side' so I can rightly declare myself the winner.

I hardly think that posing a question is akin to setting the rules and he didn't want to play as he was totally defenceless in attempting to show that Thaksin was good for Thailand when I know that everything he has ever done is for himself and at the expense of the people!!

  6. Your attitude basically reflects the hypocrisy of the current government. Rule of law, but only when convenient, which basically goes against every precept of rule of law.

If you look at the current state of the economy, not really a better place. And martial law holding the peace will not last if the junta continues with one sided reforms and prosecutions.

"rule of law, but only when convenient"

Now why did a larger than life and 'oh so vivid' picture of Thaksin flash through my mind when I read this particular piece!!!

The economy is improving actually as business hasn't been this confident for ages and the coming growth projections are looking a lot healthier than the recessionary times of the last government.

People are happier now that they can carry on their daily life without having to look over their shoulder or read about the latest casualties inflicted by the murderous 'reds'. When was the last political murder of innocents BTW, please tell me?

At least people do not have to bury innocent children out to do a bit of shopping in the market place any more, or fall casualty to RPG's fired at crowds of peaceful demonstrators . That has got to mean something, hasn't it?

The latest polls on this (bloodless coup d'etat) government - carried out in all regions of Thailand, incidentally (including the North and the North East) seem to tell a different story to the one you are portraying as they proclaim to be exceedingly happy with their performance and so either you are right or over 90% of the Thai people have got it all wrong!!! Who to believe?

  8. Smedley I will ask you a simple question .

Is the current military junta legal or not illegal?

Now if it's illegal why should anyone on either side of politics abide by their decisions ?

The current coup is not illegal!!

It was done to stop the 'red shirts' killing people and to stop the incompetent rabble posing as government trying to run the country into the ground - done purely in pursuance of their own and Thaksin's (of course) personal interests and dark agenda.

It (the coup) was carried out because it was in the best interests of the nation - in order to stop the bombings and killings and return badly needed peace and stability to Thailand (which has now been accomplished).

If invading foreign lands to protect your country's energy supply and to dictate and attempt to impose the form of government they wish on them is legal then this military coup is more than justified. The coup is not democratic, granted, but the previous 'Yingluck' government was not even close to being democratic either. Too much emphasis is put onto democracy being the ideal form of government. I personally see the importance and relevance of democracy as overrated and furthermore, view it as a flawed system of governance (particularly in the case of Thailand). It is far better off as it is now under a benign dictatorship rather than being exploited by a bunch of corrupt thieves that couldn't care a toss about the people. On that, Prayuth cares deeply about Thailand and it's people and is sincere in what he does which is light years away from the Shinawatras 'exploitation' of poor and gullible people in order to carry out the rape and pillage of this once proud nation!!! .

Actually, it was illegal under the 2007 constitution. Just because you agree with it does not change that fact.

    Section 68

A person is prohibited from using the rights and liberties provided in the Constitution to overthrow the democratic rule with the King as the Head of the State as provided by this Constitution; or to acquire power to rule the country by means other than is provided in the Constitution.

That is why the interim constitution had to grant amnesty to the generals for past acts, and why they created Section 44 that makes all future acts legal.

It is basically moot if the coup is successful, but if not successful, the coup makers would face treason charges.

If the country was being governed properly without mass corruption being knowingly allowed to proliferate and the government was ruling by a fair manner without bias to any particular grouping or region and uses democratic means to achieve this, then yes it was illegal. But.............................

To be honest, I couldn't care about the legality of it - it has happened and by god, isn't Thailand a better place for it!!!!

  9. laugh.pnglaugh.pnglaugh.png

You know, some halfwit actually sits somewhere and reckons stuff like this gives legitimacy to the junta.

many were concerned about the continuing economic recession and falling prices of farm produce.

Yet 90%+ were "satisfied." ..... My god the junta needs new PR people facepalm.gif

There isn't a recession in Thailand - just lower growth than is desirable Nb: as is the case with virtually every Nation on this earth in these troubled economic times!!! There was at least one, maybe two recessions under Yingluck's government though - had you conveniently forgotten this fact before spouting such rubbish?.

The reason that people are unhappy with the farm product prices being lower than they would would like is because Prayuth's government is responsible and is trying to wean people off of the PTP's misguided and irresponsible attempts at interfering with market principles/forces through the manipulation of the rice market by promising to buy up every grain of rice produced - offering to pay them ludicrously inflated prices at an unrealistic and unsustainable level of 40 - 50% above market value. Just how crazy and foolhardy was that!! They chose to bribe them with promises of false hope and unreachable dreams of prosperity in order to garner their vote whilst knowing (praying it wouldn't, perhaps) that it would come back to haunt them in the future when the 'stack of cards' collapsed - and it did, spectacularly so, as we all bore witness to.

Rice farming (especially in Thailand) does not make money for either the farmers or the government and they should be encouraged to do other things, or grow other crops that will at least provide them with the opportunity to make a reasonable living.

Thaksin's policies worked a treat, didn't they. Ask the rice farmers families that lost their husbands through suicide, out of desperation at having all their income removed overnight by this incompetent government that inevitably failed to live up to their election promises of 'improving the rice farmers lot' in not being able to pay them a single Baht for months on end as they had (unsurprisingly) run out of money through adopting this 'loony' scheme of theirs.

Let them be unhappy for a while but also to make sure to let them know that a rice farmer is NEVER (despite Thaksin's outrageous (believed unfortunately) lies to the contrary) going to make them rich. Let the more successful rice growing nations produce the rice and Thai farmers can attempt to diversify into other forms of work in order for them to make an honest living.

In today's current business climate (especially with the youth's clear desire and unwillingness to continue with the generations old family history traditions of toiling the fields in an attempt to eke out a living) their long held and proud claim of being the number one rice exporter in the world is irrelevant and should be ditched as it is a 'thing of the past' that serves no purpose any more!! Let India or Vietnam bear this poisoned chalice and Thauiland should be happy to watch them bathe in the false glory that this bestows on them.

Lastly, why on earth would the government need better PR people? It seems that what the government is doing in the eyes of the people speaks volumes. With approval ratings like these then they have to be the most popular government in Thailand's long and tumultuous history - long may it continue, the elections can wait and wait and wait!!!

  10. Yet another planted bias article by the nation.

You'll see how much their at the crossroads come the next election!

But some on here truly salivate at the thought that they will never happen.

    Shame

Can I ask you a simple question Mr. Parrot.

Do you think that Thaksin's involvement in politics has been good for Thailand? If so, which I'm guessing to be the case as you seem to be his number one supporter for some unfathomable reason!!

Then explain what good he has done in the last 15 - 20 years of his involvement/disruption in the nation's history.

You can make your resume brief (as I'm sure it will be) and I'll give you a bit of time to unearth some tit-bits on Wikipedia.

Stutter away and I'm interested to see just what you come up with!!

  11. 180 to 18 , well the NLA is not loaded one way then is it. Shame on them and their anti democratic masters

It implies to me that 10 times the number of members deemed that she deserves to be impeached than those that didn't. Shame on those 18 that were either chicken or got it wrong!!

Goes to show that crime doesn't pay and putting the nation at risk of bankruptcy is foolhardy and irresponsible and she fully deserves her ban.

    Can't wait for March now!!

  12. "If I was traveling outside thailand immigration would not have make me pay any overstay fees between 6th jan and 22nd as for them only matters what is written on my passport and visa."

I think that there is a concept here that you're missing.

But you weren't outside Thailand and your visa was invalidated once your WP expired. Therefore, you were overstaying in Thailand as you didn't have a valid visa to be in the kingdom for this period.

  13. With the present situation, no one understands what is going on. Even educated people don't know what is impeachment, weather it is legal under an unelected council, rather than democratically elected parliament or not. After tomorrow, they will announce former PM Yingluck is impeached and cannot be able to vote or contest in election for another 5 years or more ?

Unelected council should not use any opportunity to take political decisions except collecting evidences against her, until there is an elected government to decide later.

There is no solution for political problems here, and poor villagers won't understand what is all these, it is going to make people more confused and anger.

Building faith and unity among fellow Thai's are more important now than playing politics.

This has nothing to do with the government and so democracy doesn't come into it.

She is being impeached (will happen for sure) for her wrongdoings in allowing rampant corruption from her ministers and appointed officers and from not stopping it before massive losses to the Thai people had built up that will impact on them for perhaps a decade or so despite warnings from .

I think that when you state that 'even educated people don't understand what impeachment is ''you clearly don't see yourself as being well educated' as educated people DO understand exactly what it is and means. Her fraudulent government came to power under false pretences with her suicidal (for Thailand) populist policies and now its payback time.

I'm more interested in the criminal proceedings that could lead to a hefty fine and imprisonment. This more than anything will banish the Shinawatra's from politics and Thailand as she won't fancy time behind bars and Prayut will let her do a runner - good riddance to these opportunist scum bags!!

  14. This is not a Yingluck/Shinawatra problem. The problem of corruption has been around for a long time in Thailand and its roots are

deep in the culture. Just about any Thai in her position would have done the same thing.

So you think that it is justified?

Corruption runs in the Shinawatra veins - they just can't help themselves when they see an opportunity to steal from the people.

Shame on them, they are a disgrace to the country and I hope that she does a runner (she surely will) like her cowardly brother and we never see the likes of them again!! Remove this stain and most of Thailand's problems will vanish over night. Now wouldn't that be refreshing!

  15. "I am not Charlie, I am Ahmed the dead cop. Charlie ridiculed my faith and culture and I died defending his right to do so," wrote one Twitter follower under the name Dyab Abou Jahjah.

If you don't know who Abou Jahjah is see here:

    http://www.aboujahjah.org/articles-and-blog/category/israeli-crimes

He is a weekly columnist at Flemish newspaper "De Standaard" and he teaches Politcal Science at Université Catholique Louvain.

Guess he is Moslim, pro Palestine and anti Israël...just an other nutter.

    Hang about!!

He is perfectly entitled to his views, is he not - it is his democratic right to speak out, just as the dead journalists were in taunting these radical Muslims and winding them up. If he is a 'nutter' as you imply, then so were these journalists playing this deadly game, they knew the dangers didn't they. Just as Russian roulette isn't a particularly wise game to play, neither is denigrating the Muslim religion.

  16. The best way to prevent it is not to do the things that provoke it.

    Precisely!!

It is clear that these radical islamists carry out these atrocities because people ridicule their religion, and worse still, these misguided journalists rubbed their faces in it by taunting them on Facebook and Twitter - its as if they seemed to treat it as a game of dare or a challenge of 'come and get me if you can'. Well they did and lost!!

They died because of this and only have themselves to blame for it. I hope that the journalists families give a thought about the innocent civilians that lost their lives because of this continual baiting by these reckless individuals. All of these protests and marches are irrelevant and they (those journalists) are not deserving of them.

I have no sympathy for these irresponsible journalists, only the innocent civilians that paid for their lives in this unnecessary and dangerous game played out in the warped minds of idiots hiding behind democracy and the flawed blanket 'freedom of speech' ideals that the Americans so love and cherish.

  17. Well France has allowed the scum of the world to stand on it's soil and now the scum are spilling French blood on that same soil. Will France do something now?

Of course they will!! They will ask "como se va" as more arrive and take advantage of political correctness gone mad! w00t.gif

I blame all of these human rights organisations for this situation as they are renowned for fighting for terrorists rights Eg: Abu Hamza was allowed to stay in the UK for getting on for a decade because of these pathetic people sticking up for these tyrants with their so called 'human rights' agenda. To a lesser degree, I blame it on democracy allowing people to criticise and attack every religion they feel they want to with inflammatory cartoons - a case of "look what we are doing and you are powerless to stop us". Well that's what they thought.

Governments and the security operations are equally culpable as they knew that these two brothers were radicalised and strong candidates rowards committing terrorist activities - they were even aware that one of them had snuck over to Yemen to receive terrorist training skills and that they had also attended mosques with several radical and extreme preachers radicalising them to eradicate imperialist Western scum (including Abu Hamza who has justifiably been dealt a long awaited and deserving life sentence for his promotion of terrorist acts and murder). This was well known so I would like to know why they weren't deported to a Muslim country that would accept them (Algeria in this case) as they are undesirables that were creating a security risk (the extent of their intent is clear now) but it has come too late for several people who are no longer with us.

Democracy gives people the right to freedom of speech but it also allowed these journalists to blaspheme and denigrate Muslims and their Islamic religion. Now Muslims don't take kindly to their Prophet and religion being ridiculed and they have sadly paid for this with their lives.

The journalists continually mocked Islam and baited them on Twitter and Facebook and so they brought this on to themselves in my book and so any sympathy that I have for them is muted somewhat by their irresponsible actions and their unwise depiction of Islam as being a flawed religion that has no place in this world. The people I genuinely feel sorry for is those civilian hostages that lost their lives because of the manifest errors and mistakes made by these foolhardy journalists (in the name of democracy) that precipitated this act of terrorism.
