  1. you may even could use an WiFi Finder to see you're in an area with accessible WiFi! I've one together with NB everytime I need to go somewhere while need an computer. The cost is between THB 1,000 - 2,500

Is there any available in Bangkok? on the net there is few different version, i guess the best which also show if the network is open, or secured. as i also travel a lot, it would be very practical, not to power up the laptop, and find there isnt any wifi to connect there.

however i've never seen any here yet.

    Anybody?

  2. a bit update on me.

i took the recommendation, and so far spent around 15 hours one-on-one . it is fun to learn, but need much more time to practise before I really can say that i am able to write/read.

    anyway, working on it :o

  3. not an expert opinion.

i would go with the second option. only i would say in the opposite way, the goodwill is as part of the assets. that is, help to generate the profit ( exp. a well-known brand name) but the asset is the one making it.

i agree, i would handle the land value separate. i wouldnt count the appriciation that much, as the mentioned resort probably did that to it already.

Why to bother ROI < 10%, especially in this high amount of money. similar obtainable around in some thai real estate funds, with much less headache. if land/building values moves, so does in the fund.

I wouldnt like to have in a business less then 10% ROI for my work...

  4. just like to know what is cheap for the OP?

" The condos that are on the market in thailand from swedish real estate agents are all deadly expensive."

I would think for certain reason the agents in Sweden dont like to deal in condos with lower pricetags.

but there is plenty of condo in Bkk and Pattaya and elsewhere under or near a million baht.

"Buying condo's is iffy.. And do you really want to own a cheap one? Why?

I think the only place where condos make sense is Bangkok, and possibly Pattaya. Everywhere else, where real estate is cheaper generally, condos STILL cost more than proper houses that offer far more space and value.. So.. why the crappy condo?"

Correct me, but farangs still cant own legally a house and the land with it. So if you arent willing to try loopholes, or buy on wife/gf name, it isnt a real option.

  5. seems like vote buying WAS, IS, and WILL BE( at least in the upcoming election still) in Thailand.

The only way is to fix vote buying to cancel election, and stay with military junta. no voting=no buying votes.

anyway, a recent comment was made that an unfavorable result may bring another coup. so, why bother at all. :o

The so many people accept vote buying is mainly those with income. what would you do in their place? the same. as their life didnt improve a whole lot with the different governments, at least the elections bring a little of the much needed cash.

  6. I don't follow the SET on a daily basis but know there are some investors on TV who do.

Is there anybody who can update the P/E's of Thai Banks and other large financial Institutions ?

I'm curious, because the P/E's of the largest Banks in the world, in the US and EU are at an almost all time low:

P/E's of large Banks/Financials, as of today:

    Citibank at 8.88

    Deutsche Bank 9USA) 5.36

    Barclays PLC (USA) 6.36

    JPMorgan (USA) 8.85

    Bank of America 9.98

    ING Group (USA) 6.57

    Royal Bank of Scotland 6.74

    Credit Suisse 6.3

    UBS AG (USA) 9.02

Would you buy them now ?

    Laopo

compering the above P/E numbers to the thai banks P/E, thai banks are expensive. P/E wise the cheapest ( as today) is KK 9.13, and the most expensive is TBANK 85.4.

Bangkok Bank( BBL) is around the mid, at 12.44....way above the banks you listed.

  7. Why don't you upgrade your True package? It's possible to do so via their website, you should get a lot more bandwidth for your money when you did three years ago.

    Very True :o

If your phone is true, they have a so called All together bonus. In that you can have a 1Mbit/256kb net connection for 599+VAT.

I have the same for myself.

your 750 should buy you maybe 1.5Mbit. if I remember correct, then True contract is for a min. period of 6 month, so you are long over that and shouldnt have problem to change it to the better offer.

  8. just like to confirm that financial sites should nothing to do with secured or unsecured wireless network.

when i travel I often use those unsecured networks, to access my bank or broker.

it means only that if your network is unsecured, then your neighbor might connect to the net with it too. :o

one thing that might help to add their site to your trusted sites.

that is tools-internet optios-security-trusted sites...and there you can add sites.

also might help sometimes that you delete the temporary files, and cookies.

the route is: tools-internet options, and there on the middle of the window: temporary files; delete cookies, delete files.

    dont hurt trying.

  9. i doubt the all shareholder's name would be public on the net, with a reason. why it would be? why it would be someone's interest if you own 100 shares.

anyway, email addresses you wont get to these people. why? two reason to start:

    1. TSD doent have that info, the broker has. ( they have mailing address)

    2. any of the above would give out this info for a 3rd party, they probably would face to a lawsuit.

my example: what would you do with this emails? send spam? send unwanted mails? sorry to tell, for these I would sue the broker and you. and most probably some others would do the same. these are personal infos, just as banks.

why you can see major shareholder, 'cos there is a rule then above certain % of ownership they have to disclose buy/sell of shares. same apply for "insiders".

  10. hi

1/ you dont need usb wireless modem, as all the laptops now come wiht built-in wireless.

2/ if you dont like much more than to use web, then basically any cheaper should do. there are plenty to choose in the 20-30k baht price range.

i like ASUS, and would advice to check them out. when something goes wrong, it is good that it comes with 2 YEARS warranty. ( not many brand do that!)

  11. hi.

for start you can try out the Stock Exchange of Thialand's (SET) page: www. set.or.th, they have English language option.

under the company profiles, you van searh your company, and get the info you need about number of stocks, board of directors, major shareholders, financhial statement, etc.

"2. Number of stock holders and contact information for all the investors. eg; email addresses ect ( Research )"

sorry, this point is above me. what do you really want here? email address of shareholders?? :o

or you mean the company's address and contact? if this you have on the net.
