  1. These are the types of discussions we need to be having. Many of us will be leaving Thailand for >180 days for 1 or more years so it is valuable to know which countries in SE asia are tax friendly. I believe Singapore does not tax capital gains. But is expensive and not easy to get long term visa's
  2. Thanks but nothanks. I am asking about the new worldwide system not the remittance sytstem.
  3. So under the new system Say for example if I cashed out on all of my investment funds in 2025 and was non-resident for tax purposes that year then retired to Thailand in 2026 and lived off of the savings. They would not be assessable income (as long as those savings are not generating income) I would not be taxed on remitting those savings? I could remit as much as I wanted to purchase condo's cars etc...???
  4. I just came here to see of there is any news with regards to Visa-free access to the UK for Thais. Reading the last page of posts WTF are you guys plathering about.
  5. Sure I could. I don't think that was low at all. I acknowledge his effort but it was at times misleading and inaccurate.
  6. He probably moved to Cambodia to avoid this tax situation.
  7. I agree you do have to wade through a lot of B.S. fear and panic to glean what few facts there are. I imagine if there are any new facts it will be headline news.
  8. Your stance is not popular because they are your opinions. Like you said yourself you are looking for facts.
  9. We are all here for the facts, but they are few and far between currently. In the mean time it may be useful for some to hear other peoples take on the situation
  10. They could flip flop about this. Wouldn't surprise me. If they do follow through with it then I would think they will make whole sale changes to the tax system. 35% on capital gains is unacceptable.
  11. I worked offshore for 30 years more that 180 days a year (Intentional waters). I was a tax resident of nowhere. Never had a problem.
  12. I think there is AI tax systems that will easily tell them how much tax is owed by an individual as long as the data is accurate and the perimeters are correct. The world is changing.
  13. I also read that the request for information on the CRS system is not free.
  14. I am in the same boat but the uncertainty is frustrating. Probably get out for 2026 for the 180. Tour around. Cash out some investment funds (while non-resident) to live on for a few more years. Then take it from there.
  15. Can you explain 'gains on funds are tax exempt'?
  16. The whole Thai tax system will need to be reworked. Will have to be debated and voted on by all the Thai government law makers. This could take years. If ever.
  17. Yeah a bunch of Russians with ski masks ready to cut your fingers off.
  18. So if you are living off savings offshore you will not have to pay tax if it is remitted now?
  19. I cant see this happening any time soon. Maybe 2026?
  20. So more confusion and uncertainty about the future. All the tax planning I had for the last bomb shell is out the window. Now need to wait again for clarity.
  21. I think it will apply to all individuals. Also they will look at platforms that earn 1 billion Baht.
  22. I just read an article in another paper and this is what it said "It is still in the discussion stage and it is not known when it might take effect."
