Khunpa. Who's side are you on? If the locals get burnt by a mama's boy, I'd say they had it coming to them.

I don't think any more silly than Wanted Posters or Amber Alerts. If such a web tool helped warn even one or two potential victims, it would be beneficial.
-
Red flag the names, with photos if possible listing any "local" ex-girlfriends or wifes who perpetrated convincing acts of friendship, love & concern, but who's main objective was actually only to live the easy, lazy life while sucking the life blood out of their gullible marks until their funds evaporated. If I where more tech savvy I would create a website of this type. It's time for the truly educated to get a leg up, by publicly posting in a database information identifying the "bad people", with brief explanations of any negative experience. I wouldn't worry about any liable lawsuits because the people who would be listed would not have the legal intelligence to pursue legal action. Anyway, posters would be the main legal targets anyway. I doubt the website with the appropriate disclaimers would be legally exposed.
Good idea or not?

I am seeking suggestions regarding low cost apartment rentals in Bangkok. I would like to find a "Thai" apartment building (where some alongs now also rent) in the area of 5000-7000 per month. This price range should include a/c, hot water, bed, closet, table & two chairs and a balcony. The apartment building should have a lift/elevator. Maybe a Burger King, Foodland, Big C in somewhat close proximity. A professionally managed apartment. They do exist but are a challenge/effort to find.
From long term experience, at 5000 baht per month and up, Thai tenants are working class and don't party/make much noise. However, now-a-days there is the Chinese issue. The Chinese are moving in to these low cost apartments and they can get loud and in your way.
I seek a location near the MRT, maybe in the Lat Prao area.
If you know of any apartment buildings near the BTS, I would also be interested.
I am open to all good suggestions.
Thanks for your input.

Not too long ago the U.S. rejected farmed shrimp from Thailand due to high (any) levels of antibiotics contained in the shrimp. And I was wondering why I never get the flu anymore.

I won't be buying any packaged ice for awhile.

Totally avoid agreeing to start a relationship (girlfriend or boyfriend) with a Thai.
When you need companionship, you can pay any coin operated local. It will save you big time/in the long run.
Knowing that Thais love money way above health, being honest, being faithful, being honest, etc. Not to fall for the I Love You line.
if you are concerned about spending more then you think you should on an apartment/monthly rental, try renting in a upper end Thai apartment building (at least 5,000 baht per month) which would have the basic a/c & western bathroom).
Thailand's emergency health services are very weak.
Don't buy a car or a condo.

Did you ever wonder if those stomach aches or throwing up were due to bacteria-laden spoiled food, or from ingestion of poisonous pesticides? I'll answer my own question. PROBABLY BOTH!
-
Most of us can kiss our livers & kidneys goodby to eventual cancer! The more years these pesticides build up in our systems, the higher the probability of cancer!!
A Thai physician once told me prostate cancer was low among the Thai population. However, G.I. Track and liver cancers are high. I guess nowhere is perfect.

Hi Ubon Joe.... I got one small stamp " Non-O-Retirement" with admitted date and until date. It looks like they gave me another stamp too, but everything is in Thai. My girl said the stamp is not alarming. Thanks for your review!
-
Thank you Jingthing. You & Phuket Man are right. I just reviewed my passport. I was issued a "Non-O-Retirement" stamp. My current waiting period before returning to immigration is about 90 days, and yes, I will need to submit the same form as used for 90 day tourist visas + another fee when I return to their offices.
My Thai bank book balances are extremely low and therefore I didn't want to offer information which could cause me more red tape, or even worse, a red flag.
-
Thank you Phuket Man. That's the way it appeared during my interaction with the IO.
It seemed the information and documentation I provided was acceptable. I just do not understand the 2+ month delay in finalizing my 12 month extension.
-
I submitted my retirement visa application at CW, paid the fee and was told to return in a couple months, and I was told I would receive my 12 month retirement visa at that time. My financials were based on monthly retirement income, as documented by an official affidavit issued from my embassy.
Has anyone ever been called for not providing their Thai bank account information on a retirement visa application?

Don't you worry about the jellyfish. The Thais will eat them. I.e., jellyfish salad.

Thai law? Really? In this area with maybe few exceptions, expats are in the dark. If seek law and order, you're in the wrong country.

OP, you did the right thing. This Pattaya cafe owner probably equals an expat who's business investment is slowly screwing itself into the ground. Gathering from the situations you expressed, I would wager the son's eyes are focused on mom's elderly age financial status. Luckily, the plan of imprisioning her here in Pattaya for the purpose of his future enrichment was poorly executed on his part.
So so glad she was able to get back home safely. I wish she could read these blogs.

For a good loking guy in his mid 30s, you sound quite lonely and desperate. My advice to you is to achieve success with a boyfriend-girlfriend relationship in your home country. Thai females with chew you up and spit you out. If your are not financially well to do, once she knows it, which won't take long, you will will be history.
Prestburypark said it best. I'll add this girl is hoping to take a giant s***t on you.
Surely you must have even a little common sense.

Correction: I agree about draining motorbike carbs before you leave. I think you can just close the fuel cock and run the engine until it stalls out.
-
Seal the exhaust pipes to prevent moisture from entering the mufflers, especially if parked outdoors. Disconnect positive (+) battery cables from battery terminals. Be ready with jumper cables when you return. 50/50 chance you will need them, unless your batteries are very new. Fill fuel tank. Top off crankcase oil/all fluids. Plan on changing engine oil when you return. If you have good quality tires I wouldn't worry about flat spots. Just over inflate before you leave. Same for your spare tire.

If all else goes well, don't overlook that you would legally be responsible for paying income tax on any rental income.

Good Morning,
Just my opinion, but I would not consider returning my own daughter to Thailand for the purpose of learning Thai. What good on Earth will being able to speak and write Thai ever do for her future success? Living in a western civilization will offer her cutting edge education and professional opportunities.
Thailand simply offers a generally lazy culture of intellects which are quite low. In comparison, the more time spent in Thailand, the less change to gain true western success. Again, just my opinion.
The very best of luck to you and your daughter.

This should be interesting....
All TV subscribers are cordially invited to tell us about any good deeds which they bestowed to the good people of Thailand, and how those acts of kindness backfired in their faces. This should be good.

Bury them, don't bury them. Who cares? Everyone here is only wants to enjoy the temples, shopping malls and city trains.
It's due time someone creates an online database where expats & foreigners can....
