Been using SlimJet for the past two weeks or so. Highly recommended. Quick to load, quick navigating menus and web pages, stable, some nice features, e.g. 'save as pdf', screenshot etc.oh!, built-in download manager. No more broken downloads.

Careful signing-up to nord. I checked them out. Yes they seem attractive. Especially with the special offer of 3 USD per month and 24/7 support.
On reviews, some users have reported speed issues and bad support.
I online chatted with support staff just now to ask if they will honour the 30-day money back guarantee if I experience speed issues. They said they will offer a full refund within 7-days of opening the account. That's not what their website says. It says 30-days.
I told him this. Then he said "we do not offer this service". Huh?..Frankly, support seems a bit clueless.
Nord?..No Thanks.
edit: the e-mail chat transcript feature on their website does not work. Small things...yes...but says a lot.

I've given up on buying a new smartphone for the minute, relying on the trusty ole mobilephone instead.
Thought there was a good recommendation with the Motorola Moto E (for less than 100 USD), it turns out it has lagging issues, mic/speaker issues, no flash and camera is awful. (previously I thought could live without a decent camera on the phone, but need a camera at least 8MP I reckon for decent pics)
If anyone can recommend the same as the Moto E (2nd Gen) without the above issues, I am all ears.

@flyDelight:They do have an ''about us' page, linked to a google plus account webpage. Even then, the page dosen't work. (I like to think of these as little warning signs ) I am not going to spell out the purpose of the 'about us' page. Just search (I nearly said 'just gxxxxx it') online for 'the purpose of having an about us page'.As for reviews, they provide great insight about products and services, user experience and tests done by experts.

Btw this is the one to bypass the Google bubble http://www.impersonal.me/
thanks. Haven't found any reviews for that site yet. Also, I followed your link and clicked 'about us' on the impersonal.me search page.I got the following error:Note the URL on the address bar. Just sayin.. -
Here are the memory usage results:
It's from the same test source: http://www.computerworld.com/article/2485269/web-apps/web-apps-5-lesser-known-browsers-free-lightweight-and-low-maintenance.html
Other sites may report different results. I've seen some sites report 3 test results per browser using 3 different benchmark tools. Check it out: -
Here are some test results for browser speed:

According to this Midori is faster than Chrome. I installed Midori on my system and tried it. Seemed slower. I'll try and do a proper test when I get the chance. -
@uksomchai:
Good point. It's startpage doing the searching with google, not YOU (doing the searching with google). You can use ixquick.com for searches and it will use other search engines (all engines except google).ixquick and startpage are both owned by the same company. -
@sunnyjim5:
Oh!, you mean you've tried SOME of them."better things to do with my time !" - It's the whole point of this post, so that we, I, you, don't have to test them all and we can get an idea what is available, and the reasons/emotions, notions for liking/disliking one browser from the other. Same goes for search engines.Yes I have tried "some" of them !
Can I suggest you list all those you have tried together with your "expert" evaluation of each product.
I wait with no real expectation of a useful non vacuous reply.
Thanks for clarifying.I would send you such a list. But at no point have I said (or implied) that I've tried them all or claimed to be an expert. From the OP you will be able to work out that I've tried at least one. -

At the very beginnings I used an Internet Explorer browser then later went on to Firefox and kept with that. I suppose it`s what we get used to and feel comfortable with using, but it doesn`t mean they are the best.
Tried all the search engines and none of them can compete with Google.
Yeah, but sometimes you make the change, and think, why on earth had I been using that rubbish browser all that time. So best to look for alternatives. It may work out best in the long run. Plus you are keeping the browser developers on their toes to develop browsers that users find quicker (slicker), less resources intensive, intuitive, and comfortable/confident using.Search engine: I did some tests and startpage gives me more relevant results compared to google. I've made the switch to startpage (and DuckDuckGo). -
I like the Slimjet browser. An open source browser base on Chrome.
For a search engine I still prefer Google.
Have you used any other search engines?...or just used google all along.
Tried them but prefer Google.
You couldn't have tried and tested'em ALL on all platforms. There's just so many.

By the way, we can use startpage through DuckDuckGo by typing:!sp thentypewhatyouaresearchingforcheck out the review: http://www.sitejabber.com/reviews/www.startpage.com#6

I use DuckDuckgo
Read more about them here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DuckDuckGo
For Browser, I use for my daily surfin' Firefox.
Do you use firefox on a Mac, Linux, Windows Desktop or Notebook. Or maybe tablet or smartphone?I was using it before on my Linux notebook but it was slow, so switched to chrome. Maybe I will try the latest version and if its still slow try seamonkey. -
Can anyone recommend alternative search engines to google. Also, an alternative browser to chrome. Is firefox or safari any good?

I've never used worldfirst. remember reading bad reviews about them.Have used the company endorsed by Richard Branson. Just do online search for it. e.g. 'richard branson money transfer'They now do AUS to Thailand transfers.Never use the bank for transfers. bad rate + you may be stung with hidden fees.

LINE is pretty good but only works if both ends have the application installed
Line has an option called Line Out, previously premium call, that allows to call landlines and mobiles worldwide at a much cheaper rate and better quality as Skype.
The only drawback for the OP is that it will show your Thai mobile number.
Has anyone used line/line out (Smartphone app or google chrome plugin) for calling UK?. What's the quality of the line (excuse the pun) like?.Call charge is much lower than skype. With line out, call to UK landline is 1 pence per minute, 2 pence per minute for mobile. According to their website there is no connection charge. Skype charges a connection charge.Skype charge for call to UK landline (advertised as "from") 1.4p per min. Mobile phone "from" 6.3p per min. Connection fee varies from 0.00 (for toll free numbers) to 6.9p for government services numbers and Premium International Consular numbers. All these rates are for pay-as-you-go.Also, I am aware that call quality can depend on a lot of things like, your internet connection. I am talking about the line quality when the connection is stable, when connected with a wired internet connection. Must say that with skype, generally, even with wi-fi the line quality is pretty good. Do keep an eye on the billing though (I was overcharged once). -
I for one am so relieved they are doing this monitoring, I can sleep a lot easier at night now.
"I for one" = says it all.

This news is re?-announced (broadcasted) at the same time when thailands perception of corruption is at it's lowest in six years:
You do the math.

Apart from your internet slowing down considerably.....You will know (if china couldn't keep their Great Firewall secret!)

Watch closely at the name of the cab company MaiLinh and Vinasun. There are some dodgy cab firms operating with similar names...e.g. vinasum.
After a long flight, easy to miss. I've read that generally, the dodgy taxi's are somewhat unroadworthy, they would have bad bodywork, dirty exterior/interior. See:
http://www.runawaybrit.com/2012/05/28/how-to-avoid-saigons-rip-off-taxis-a-comprehensive-guide-2/
Ensure that you have the correct fare or close to it before you exit the airport (ask a bank cashier at airport for change). Vietnamese dong 10,000 is very similar to the 100,000, so if you receive change from driver for a 500,000 dong note, check its the correct change.
Most hotels provide airport pick-up for a fee (some hotels may offer it free if you stay more than three nights).

Money spinner?...more like newsreel spinner.
The last time I heard this Europe should learn from Australia was when the former PM, Mr Tony Abbott was ranting and raving about it. Look where he is now.
It won him an election
Difficult for a lot of Europe to 'Stop the Boats' though
It won John Howard an election too!. But later it was discovered that they (Howard government) had lied to shore up voter support before the election. Search online for: Tampa Affair. That's the problem when elections are decided on hot-potato issues only.Abbott is a case in point. clearly he was not a fit leader (to last a whole term). The evidence is clear. He didn't last the whole term in office. -
migrants have already ruined europe.....america, and australia.
They sure have... ask the aboriginals.
Australia never got the cream of the crop... Started with petty criminals who had no choice and Militia who were paid wages in Rum...A few anti-Chinese laws kept Australia white, while later, post WW2 Australia had to pay low class Brits and Europeans to come and live in Australia
All changed now of course... Australia have tapped into a rich vein of Asian economic migrants who pay tens and hundreds of thousands of dollars to come live here... Quite the money spinner
Well educated, well connected and plenty of money, Little surprise a number of old time Australians are not too keen
Europe should learn to do the same. have the rich Asians pay for the privelege of citizenship
Money spinner?...more like newsreel spinner.
