  1. A Canadian friend is moving to our village and intends to rent a house from my brother-in-law. We completed the TM30 form together with the addendum showing his details (passport, visa etc). Also completed was the 'Power of Attorney' form which was duly signed and witnessed. I understood that this POA form negates the need for the owner of the property to attend immigration but the officer at Korat (Dan Kwien) immigration insists my brother-in-law attend in person to register (for the first time of registration) my friend as staying at my BIL's property. Information on the Thai Immigration bureau website says that the notification can be made " Through an authorised person at the respective office ". Clearly in this case they are not accepting the person authorised by the POA.

Has anyone else come across this problem?

  2. I am currently on a multi entry spouse visa, issued in Savannakhet. It is due to expire in May and I have 5 clear pages in my passport, which I will have to renew sometime within the next year. I am not sure whether to renew my passport (doesn't expire until 2024) before or after I go again to Savannakhet. Either way I will have to have the visa transferred to the new passport. Has anyone done this before? Is it possible to transfer the visa from one passport to the other?

The Non-O multi entry spouse visa means a border crossing every 90 days and at least one page of my passport taken up with a visa, plus stamps,  each time. I intend to apply for a passport with more pages this time and within the next few years I will change my visa so I will not have to do a border crossing every 90 days.

  3. I only found out about the 90 day reporting on line yesterday so I thought I'd give it a whirl........................and following the instructions I completed and submitted the TM47 on line. I received a unique transaction number (with bar code) and saved it to a file which I have printed so I have a hard copy. Going as far as I did does not mean I have been successful in my application. It just means I was able to submit the TM47. Now I have to wait and see if my notification is processed and a receipt issued giving my next due date.

I live in Nakhon Ratchasima province and if my application is not processed I have enough time to go to the immigration office personally as I submitted the TM47 11 days before my next reporting date.

So, I can only say that I have been partially successful.
