Doing my bit to help, cut up my GF's 4 credit cards today.

My condolences to Mrs. Schreiber.
Her pilot-husband's moral compass was 180 degrees off.
You didn't finish your judging sentence. Should have read;
"Her pilot-husband's moral compass was 180 degrees off my moral standards."

Do not listen to your GF
You simply apply for Visa at immigration and you have nothing to do with her getting a Visa.
She first gets a simple holiday Visa here in Thai.
Do not I reat do not try long term visas here they want your money...........DO IN AUSTRALIA
Mate......have you been through the process?
To the OP,
My gf also works in a hospital. She is coming out for her 2nd trip in October, so we are currently going through the process again.
We did the application ourselves, supplied what was requested in the application, plus some. Took all to the Embassy in BKK. Flood them with whatever you think is relevant.
1. Letter from employer stating she has a job, how long she has worked there and that she has a job after she returns from her 10 day holiday.
2. Letter from me stating she is my girlfriend and I will be supporting her financially and supplying accommodation. THIS DOESN'T ALLEVIATE THE NEED FOR HER TO SHOW HER OWN FINANCIAL RESOURCES.
3. Copies of bank statements from both me and her.
4. Proof of me having accommodation available stating the address ie, rate notices, utilities bills etc. Tip - make sure she has this address available when she comes through Immigration. A friend's Thai girl had trouble because she didn't know his address.
5. Proof of the relationship and its duration; photos, phone records etc.
6. Copy my passport. I took photos of documentation on my iphone and sent on LINE first time. These were accepted. More organised this time!
.......and obviously anything else required in the application.
There doesn't seem to be any consistency in their decisions. My gf's friend who works at the same hospital (with the same references and university qualifications) was to come with her on the first holiday, but she was knocked back twice with no explanation (or refund).
Flood them with information.
Good luck.

Phimai, if going on hi way 2, check out Koran or Khan Kaen Zoo's, anybody been to both, I would be interested to hear about both, thx
I've also been to Phimai, definitely worth a look. I enjoyed both.

Khon Kaen Zoo on highway halfway between KK and Udon. Also has a waterpark next door, in the same complex.
Also worth a look is the big dam/reservoir near KK (sorry the name evades me). Pleasant drive out with plenty of places overlooking the lake to stop for a look.

Cheers, thanks Kevvy, a wealth of information there.

Cheers guys, thanks for the tips.
I imagine these latest changes would affect quite a number on the forum, hence the desire to create this topic.
I was, only recently, permanently on DSP so I hope I don't have to go through all that reporting again.

Thanks Tifino,
Some good advice there.

LOL! You knew someone had to ask!
No, I was referring to the appearance of trolls.

You can't work but you can holiday in Thailand?
Oh dear, didn't take long, did it!
-
Cheers guys, thanks for the advice.
I'll start with the 8.30 phonecall. Have been on hold with them for an hour before giving up.
In hindsight, I should have notified them, but in the past, a "let sleeping dogs lie" policy has worked best.

And what is the closest cheapest hotel to Don muang where we can also park the car for few days ? Thank you.
Don Mueang Amari, unfortunately. Calling it a cesspit is being generous.
Did Amari first time this trip. Late arrival (10pm), met gf, walked across the bridge, straight into room. Happy days. No dealing with taxis etc. Rooms were fine.
Have paid a lot more for much worst.
Great way to start the trip. I'll be back.

Well visiting Centrelink would be a start I'd say.
Arrrr.....yes, but I thought someone might be able to give me a "heads up", before I run the gauntlet that is Centrelink.

My Australian disability benefit has been stopped. I'm currently in Thailand.
I assume it is because, under the new rules started 1 January 2015, I have exceeded the allowed maximum 4 weeks absence from the country per calendar year.
I did not notify the powers to be before I left. I am back in Australia end May.
My enquiry is, does anyone have any knowledge of the procedure for having the benefit reinstated, on my arrival, back in Aus?
-
I was stopped at Don Mueang last January. It was my seventh trip in 20 months, always 30 days, never back to back.
After stating that my passport had many entries, the lady immigration officer called over another lady officer (I imagine more senior).
The boss had a look at my passport.
She asked why I come to Thailand so much? "I love it here, and I have a girlfriend here"
Do I own a bar? "No, but I can be found in one quite often." (keeping it light)
I asked if there was a problem. She said no, but if the entries were back to back, there would be.
She then gave me a 30 day stamp and gave me back my passport.
I asked her if I need a visa next time. No, she said, and I was on my way.

sometimes i think males should have the menopause as well...
We do............
Bullshit we do!
This is a myth circulated by the same feminists that invented "premature ejaculation".

Maybe it is the memory of the sixties - it took us only 10 years to completely change western society.
That same generation are running things now. No change.

Generally you should have 50mm concrete cover. If you don't, water will seep through the concrete, causing the reo to rust, which will in turn, expand the reo with growing rust and it will bust out your concrete. In high rise, they call this concrete cancer.
For wet areas, like water storage, the norm would be 65mm, for the same reason.
Cheers.
Correct for slabs, not correct for posts and beams though.
I and building codes back Goanna on this one.
This is especially important for structural components, ie posts and beams.
Anything less than these tolerances will leave the reobar susceptible to corrosion causing concrete spawling or "concrete cancer" thus reducing the structures integrity, ie load carrying capacity.

This is not a good look by any means, there is a move within some Oz aviation circles to have AirAsia X banned.
Arrr.........would that be Qantas?

In this country "ITS NOT WHAT YOU KNOW, ITS WHO YO KNOW" that matters the most.
Lucky the rest of the world doesn't operate under those conditions.

Anyway...Thai dogs are very unique. Its can be running lose on the streets but are very attached to its owners and home.
Like it use to be in Australia, when I was a kid.
Times change.

I'm just here to watch the speculation.

Would it be possible to supply a contact for your builder One Day? I'm currently making preparations to start our house in Surin.

My gf bought her new Toyoya Hilux in BKK although she lives in Surin.
Her reason was that you get a better deal and more extras gratis in BKK.
Maybe a tip.
