  1. Can only vouch for Melb as a Aussie citizen.

Recently got METV visa via post.

Just a credit card statement copy (printed off Internet banking) & a inward ticket , that's all.

Simple, realise other nationalities have had some luck there too.

Why did they need a credit card statement?

Only needed an onward ticket into Thailand, not one out or a 2nd inward ticket? That's good. No need for proof of funds in a bank account or a job. That's good too.

Is Sydney the same? Anyone know?

  2. Just received reply from Thai Embassy Canberra. Here is relevant text;

    EvidenceofadequatefinanceshowingnolessthanAUD$8,000OR200,000Baht(if

    Thai bank account) as follows:
    - Official Bank statement, issued within the last 6 months
    AND/OR
    - Official credit card statement issued within the last 6 months, illustrating the current

    balance and credit card limit.

So i read it if you have sufficient credit on Credit Card you should be A OK. This is a lot more sensible IMO and lot easier for me and many others. Also note says" within" last 6 months, not for last 6 months as many have implied. Maybe a rare moment of the not so common common sense.

    Hope this helps.

  3. Hi

I need to get a Certificate of Residence to renew my drivers Licence.

I am currently house sitting a house and am not on a Lease, just paying rent straight to owner. What are my options?

I am on a Tourist Visa 60 SETV.

Also I was told that as of few weeks ago if foreigners are not registered (somewhere) the owner can be fined significant amount. Not sure if we make up a lease that they could get fined? Don't want to get them in trouble.

    Advice appreciated .

    In CM.

    Thanks

  4. I need to get a residence certificate ( to renew drivers license). I am currently just house sitting a house ie not on the lease . What can get or need to get the residency certificate?

    Thanks

As far I can recall you got your current driver's license also with proof of residence. So the question is how did you got the drivers license in the first place?

in that answer is also the solution to your question.

proof of residence you get easy

go to the immigration office and they will provide you the proof pf address.

if you are registered that of course with them (TM28) you will have hte lower part of the TM28 stapled in your passport when you did do the report of address.

if not dod the address registration do it. and you will get the proof as well from the officer.

Otherwise you can ask your partner to guarantee for you. Your partner will know a few people who will go with you as well the village head. Then you get a letter at the Ampur. that letter you can need for the extension of the driver's license.

    success

  5. So with this METV once you have it!

You can stay for 6 months, enter and re enter as often as you like but must leave every 60 days?

Do we know if the 60 days can be extended by 30 days like old TV? Thus would make it similar to old multi 60 day TV albeit can only be obtained in home country.

    Cheers

Who says you can stay only for 6 months? The visa is valid for 6 months so if you enter the 3rd time before the expiry & extend for 30 days at Chaeng Wattana after those 2 months are expiring, you will get about 9 months before needing to get a new visa. In essence it would be similar to the old 3 entry tourist visa which you could get hardly anywhere except a few lucky cities around the world.

That's the sort of answer I like. Maybe worth while after all. Shame you have to go home to get next one. Interesting to see into future how many back to back they will allow?

The visa allows unlimited 60 day entries for 6 months from the date of issue. You can do an entry just before the enter before date on it and get a new entry.

I have seen nothing that states you cannot get the 30 day extension of an entry from it.

  7. Does that mean O multi and 2 or 3 entry tourist visas are being stamped on out/in at the mentioned crossings?

    No

No out/in crossing of any type is allowed now. Perhaps about the 1st October. See this topic. No more Out/In stamps on Thai-Cambo border - for anyone

Just to clarify though, if someone were to leave and come back at one of the affected crossings with a currently valid visa a few days later, it should still be OK right? Even before 1st Oct?

Basically just no same day in/outs?

If a person is in Cambodia for a few day and want to enter with our without a visa now it would not be a problem. It is only out and back on the same day that is a problem at the moment.
