I always applied for my 5 year renewals only AFTER it expired (up to 1 year over expiry-date no pompem). That way i got nearly 6 years out of it every time, because it´s issued from your birthday to birthday. Don´t know, if that´s still the case, but worth a try . . .

Did you every have an accident and needed to claim on your insurance while driving with an expired driving license ?  Maybe they don't ask to see a driving license? Just wondering...

Being robots they are of course as dumb as a brick, so they do occasionally leave patches uncleaned, goodness knows why, as they have GPS mapping, at least my model does, but its still as thick as pig sxxt.

YES!  My experience exactly. It goes off to the same spot climbs the same bit of wall every time and then moves away to another random place.  It would make more sense to stay on the wall and work its way around as far as possible!  But no!  Never!  No memory!  No mapping!  Just moves around at random and hopes that with 2-3 hours it will have covered everywhere - which from my pictures people can see never happens

If you prefer a private hospital with much more efficiency /convenience I can recommend one in Bangkok with the nation's top Cardiologist but it will cost at least 2-3 times as much.

Thank You.  That's very informative.  Hat Yai sounds good on the other hand I have insurance to cover some of the cost and like the idea of efficiency and convenience ???? Who do you recommend in Bangkok ?  Much appreciated

I would be concentrating on getting the water in balance 1st on this pool! Is anything living in there?

this is an old picture I used because the dimensions are drawn on. The pool is clean at the moment.

any thoughts from people with 12 meter pool robot - on whether it can cope with extra 2 meter paddling area ? Much appreciated

    thank You

The robots marketed by JD are identical (except  for  the plastic cover) to the original branded Maytronics Dolphin robots distributed by SwimmingPoolsThailand.

I  have been using  a S200 from  SPT in  my  4.5 x 12 pool for over two years. This machine is excellent. SPT is the official service agent  and I  get  10% discount  on  consumables (tracks, filters, etc).

I just discovered that SPT have a video report on Dolphins on their site from an independent company in the USA. This will answer most questions.

Thank you so much for your help and link to that independent video.

My only remaining big question is this:  my pool is 12 meters swimming area plus 2 meters shallow toddler area so total 14 meters long and between 1.5 and 2 meters deep.  All the 'domestic' pool robots SPT - S100-S200-S300 (JD Pools E10-E20_E30) all state for 12 meter pools.

Because my pool is up to 2 meters deep I know I need the S200/E10 model - but will this be enough to cope with my extra length or do I need to move up the the M400 range - VERY expensive!!??

  6. Anyone with experience using pool cleaning robots?

I'm looking at 3 from Pool Pro&Lab aka JD Pools,  The basic ACTIVE 10 seems to do everything while the ACTIVE 20 and ACTIVE30i just add non-essential bells and whistles

    Any recommendations please

The go-to doc for this IMO is in Bangkok. If you are willing to travel:

    https://www.bch.in.th/find-doctor/doctor-profile/?smid=4730

Same doc can also be seen at Chula (govt hospital) but of course that takes more time, long waits etc

Thank you for this recommendation.  I have recently been diagnosed with unstable angina / ischemic heart disease and will travel from my home on Ko Samui to BKK for further tests tomorrow.

  8. Today I was refused non O. Thai visa Thai Embassy London.Sent proof of earnings above required amount.I am 62 years old. I was told to get a triple entry tourist visa.....

I don't recall the embassy ever issuing a non-o for being 50 or ever. They will only do a OA long stay visa.

That holds true for most embassies if you are a citizen or legal resident of the country where the embassy is located.

In April 2014 I was issued non-immigration category O from Thai consulate in Birmingham. I was over 50 under 65 with 800,000 THB already on deposit in Thailand. And I can prove it :-)

But sadly those days of easy living are long gone

  9. Anyone able to comment on which forms would be required when applying to convert Tourist visa into Non O-A for retirement? TM86 Change Visa Form? TM87 Apply for new visa form? TM7 application for extension of stay form? Maybe there are others? Maybe complete them all just to be on the safe side :-)

It is not possible to "convert" to an O/A visa

If an O/A visa is required it can only be obtained from the Thai Embassy in your country of residence

OK - maybe now O-A exactly but some type of visa which will allow for retirement can be obtained in Bangkok. This is what I was told at the London embassy.

  10. Unless you are going to be living in or near Bangkok you may find it best to go to Vientiane or Penang for the non-o visa.

Bangkok is the only office that can do the change now. But they have authorized a few nearby offices (Jomtien is one) to accept the application. It requires 2 trips to immigration to get the visa/entry stamps.

Is this confirmed and reliable information?. That Bangkok is the only office that can do the change now from Tourist Visa to Non-O/A retirement for people who can meet the necessary conditions...

    Thank you all for feedback

  11. I am single man UK citizen 56 years old. My previous non-O for retirement expired while I was out of Thailand so need to apply for new one.

In August I went to Thai embassy in London with my Thai bank passbook showing 800,000 THB fixed deposit for 2 years. I was given 2 options being under 65 years old. (1) complete a set of paperwork including medical certificate and Police record check in order to apply for non-o visa in the UK or (2) take a single entry Tourist visa which can be converted in Thailand to Non-O for retirement assuming other requirements are met.

    Hope this helps
