Is there a list of acceptable places to live or types of proof of residency that must be supplied at the immigration office? I don't see anywhere in the rules that says person on "retirement" visa must buy or rent appartment long term.
I could choose to live in a differenct city every 3 months - living with friends and sometimes staying in hotels. I could show letter from Thai friends or receipt from a hotel as proof of residency when doing 90 day reporting at different immigration offices in different parts of the country.
Anyone see any problems there...?

Birmingham Consulate have always been very helpful in the past but again you will have to go there in person. They are not issuing multiple entry but you probably don't need that. Single Entry Non-O will get you into Thailand and then you convert that into "extension to stay based on retirement" and then at the same time apply for multiple entry permit

Thank you all for the feedback
The core of my problem is that I need to leave Thailand 60 days before the visa expires and return to Thailand 10 days after the expire date. I'm trying to find a way to keep the visa valid for the next year ...
You cannot keep it valid unless your immigration office will do your extension 60 days early. Some will if you show them you have a ticket out of the country already.
If you enter after your extension ends your re-entry permit will of expired already and you will only be stamped into the country for 30 days.
If anyone has experience of an immigration office that will renew extension of stay "retirement" visa 60 days early based on proof of air ticket I would love to know where, Thanks

Any thoughts on this appreciated:
if I do my 90 day reporting on my "retirement" visa 30 days before the visa expires does that extend the life of the visa for 60 days...?
It used to work that way with Non-B visa. The 12 month visa was good for 15 months if you stamped in just before the 12 month date.
Thank You Krub

Last time I just showed then a receipt from a hotel where I had been staying for a month. They did not even look at it. I don't think that there is any specific list of what is an acceptable address...

On a similar topic - hope someone can advise
Preparing for my next Retirement Visa extension
I have the 800K in the bank fixed deposit for 3 years so no problem there BUT I will be out of Thailand when the visa expires. Is there a window of lienency to apply for extension? Especially if overseas when the visa expires?

Sorry I stand corrected. They can issue multi-entry just cannot issue on the same day. My mistake.
