  1. Needed to get a new compressed air can for home, so went to my nearby FortuneTown IT Mall in Bkk where I've often sourced them before.

As mentioned above, at least here in BKK, the Amorn shops often stock the 220 ml Kloud brand green colored spray cans.

Yesterday, I found the smaller size and the larger 430 ml Kloud cans at Nutty PC/electronics accessories shop there. I think Nutty is a chain operation, because I've seen their shops elsewhere as well.

They were selling the 220 ml Kloud cans for 250b, and the 430 ml cans for 450b.

Thanks a lot! I still haven't made my trip to "China" yet.facepalm.gif Knowing I could get this item in Thailand I'm quite relieved. w00t.gif

  2. If it is an epoxy 2 part yes it should be dry not sure of the cure time .and normal levels of chlorine should not present any problems.I usually did not have much input into pool finishes it was just on this particular contract we had to do the whole package. My company was mainly the design and installation of large scale water treatment plants for council pools..

    Thanks a bunch!

  3. I painted my Koi pool about 15 years ago with some paint from Jotun,it was blue and the colour has not faded

at all,i don't remember the name of the paint now,but if you get a Jotun brochure or contact a Jotun seller, you

should be able to find out, it came in two tins, the paint and the hardener, mix together and paint, glass like

    finish.

    regards worgeordie

Thanks for the tip! If my current contractor can't deliver the result as I have expected, I'll try your option as an alternative. biggrin.png

  4. Sorry to be pedantic I come from the uk and the term filler would mean something that is used to fill cracks and gaps.If it is an epoxy 2 part paint then I might be able to shed a little bit of light on this.

I was involved in a pool refurbishment at a school in Oxfordshire .We used a specialist company to apply the coating to walls and pool floor of an 12.5 m pool .Everything was fine for two weeks then the pool finish became discoloured as your's is.

After a lot of discussion, the specialist company that was involved in the original coating recoated it .The supplier of the coating admitted it was a faulty batch and paid in full.

Your contractor should have mixed to the correct ratios and certainly Not used any thinner.

As a further note it is a fantastic finish and is as good as pool liner.

Thanks for the input! I don't know much about construction and it's the first time I heard about the term "epoxy." Someone in my other post mentioned about epoxy filler/glue, so I just used the same term. rolleyes.gif

Back to the main topic, I saw briefly how my contractor did the coating. It was exactly as you have described. I'm also 100% sure that the workers mixed too much concrete maybe because I supplied the concrete. It seems obvious that the contractor didn't use the correct ratio because the sample he had shown me had a very consistent finish. I will ask for the same result when the contractor redo the coating. Since you are experienced, may I ask a couple of questions? 1. Does chlorine have any influence on discoloration? 2. Should the coating be done on dry weather? If the answer is "yes," then for how long? Your additional input is very much appreciated.

  5. Is there water in the pool?

Could just be muck from recent rains, have you tried vacuuming??

There was water for 10 days after the installation and the color deteriorate day by day. The contractor came back and he agreed to repair. I don't know in what extent the final installation would look like. I would expect to have consistent blue all around the floor, but I'm not sure. I wonder if the color I chose (dark blue) wouldn't give a consistent result.

  6. I wonder if anyone is familiar with epoxy filler for swimming pool. Recently my pool floor went bust and I had to redo the whole floor. Someone recommended me to have epoxy filler instead of ceramic tiles I had before (shown a small area on top of the photo) because it's low cost and no maintenance. The contractor first recommended a white filler, but I wanted dark blue to match the ceramic tile color on the wall. Just before the songran, the contractor told me the floor was completed, but I didn't say much. After a week, the floor looks like this (white, grey and blue). I asked the contractor to "repair" the floor because it's not acceptable. Can anyone give me some advice? Is it really true that epoxy filler is maintenance free? post-235737-0-12947800-1430389371_thumb.Thanks in advance for any good input!

  7. Still looking for the cans of compressed air? I've just been shopping at HomePro (Samkong branch), noticed they have cans of stuff and remembered your original request. The cans are in the aisle with the epoxy filler/glues.

You are very kind. Thanks! I haven't had time driving to Amorn. Going to Central is like going to China. biggrin.png Which HomePro is Samkong branch? I only know one near Central, and the other one in Thalang. Anyway, I now know I can get this compressed air either at Amorn or at HomePro. clap2.gif

Think ihe is talking about the HomePro in the big Lotus complex on the bypass road, called Samkong Junction.

Got it! It's still close to "China." laugh.png I'll make time for a "long" trip soon. cheesy.gif Thanks!

  9. I just spoke to the 1111 Immigration Helpline.

The new system is a national database, not linked to the local databases of Immigration offices.

Foreigners details must therefore be copied from local offices and added to the new database.

The officer told me that they are having tremendous technical problems which they are trying to resolve but cannot give any timeframe as to these problems being resolved. He mentioned the server which is now being replaced for the 3rd time? His advice was if it works 'it works', if it doesn't work please go to your local Immigration office to avoid overstay.

Your local Immigration office probably has no idea what the problems are.

This explains many problems people have had (my hubby's application inclusive) so far. facepalm.gif Integration is a lengthy and tedious task, but it can be done sooner or later, I hope... rolleyes.gif

  10. @I got my 90-day report approved via online, but my hubby's was rejected. We went to the immigration office, but we also got the same answer (try again next time). I did however notice one thing. As some Europeans have their names spelled with ü or ä and etc., and those letters won't be stored in the database, the full names people keyed in may not be recognized. I found out that my hubbý's middle name is not printed on the Receipt of Notification for 90-day report. Thus, I wonder perhaps his online report was rejected because I input his middle name the system couldn't identify. Therefore, a word of advice to those who try to report online: check the name shown on the previous receipt. Whatever it appears on the receipt should be the official name that's stored in the database. In other words, some names may be recorded without middle names (like my hubby's), and when one tries to fill out ALL info the system can't recognize, it could be a problem. Of course I still have to wait 80-day before I could confirm my theory.

Rejected. Your mean it was 'pending' then' rejected', or you couldn't get past the first page?

I couldn't get past the first page.

@liana. You can still confirm your theory without waiting 80 days. The application is only submitted at stage 4.

My next report is due in July, but I can still complete the first stage (page 1) and move onto stage 2.

@Faz Just tried it. Though I still couldn't pass the first page, it seemed to be for a different reason (not fill in flight number or suffix or something else) because I didn't see the screen (visit your local immigration office). I don't want to play with the system now in order not to be on the black list, so I didn't try again. My hubby got his new receipt 2-day ago, so I'll wait for 80-day, just to be on the safe side.

  11. Chiang Mai Immigration couldn't answer the question of why I can't get beyond the first page for the 90 day reports for both Hubby and me. They acted surprised that I get a message telling me to go to my local immigration office. They said file the report like always and maybe next time it will work. Three people looked at the data input pages I printed out showing my attempts to input the two reports, effectively bringing the processing of 90-day reports in CM to a standstill for about 10 minutes. I asked them to go into "the system" to see if Immigration's records agreed with the what I was trying to input, but no one would do this. All they did was to confirm that I input the data correctly from the passports. Duh.

The answer was to try again in 90 days. I guess they hope that somehow everything will magically heal itself.

I must admit, until I came with my question, the were humming along in their processing of 90 day reports. Impressive to have three people working that desk.

  13. My 90 day report is due April 27 and I just tried to do it on-line using Internet Explorer. Couldn't get past the first page. Got a message to check with my local Immigration office. Any reports of on-line reporting working for Chiang Mai?

I thought this was too good to be true. Just another April Fools Joke, like the 7/11 reporting forecast in our CM Expats Club video.

I have my online report approved/completed, but my hubby's was rejected. I can think of two possible reasons: 1. My arrival card has a bar code, but his doesn't. 2. He didn't use the same passport as he entered Thailand (change a new passport). We will find out more info next week.

  14. Thank you all for your valuable input! Apart from using the air pressure for cleaning my keyboards, I also need it for the lock (shown on the photo). I wonder WD-40 will be useful for this type of lock. Either the entry was filled with dust or the shredded metal pieces from the key, often times I was unable to insert the key. At first I used a small wire poking and poking, and even the tip of the wire broke and jammed. Then I tried air pressure. Open Sesame! :Dpost-235737-0-58042900-1429509262_thumb.

  15. Oh dear- how do people actually get through life?

I can understand the difficulties of visas, relationships , divorces, bereavement etc etc.

As suggested, there is this weird thing called a vacuum cleaner- it cleans floors, picks up dog hairs , sofas, rugs and is very good on keyboards

Oops! Am I not allowed to post this type of topic in the forum? As a newbie if I have annoyed anyone, I do apologize.

  16. Amorn in BKK at FortuneTown usually has them for about 250b (same brand depicted above), and some other misc. accessory shops in FortuneTown as well.

It's a mystery to me why, in this era of computers, that many of the places you'd expect to stock such a basic, simple PC accessory simply don't.

Never seen compressed air at Tesco, Big C, PowerBuy, HomePro, IT City, Banana IT, etc etc.

Perhaps Thais don't believe in cleaning out their PCs of all the gunk that's floating around in the air. Or perhaps they think the cans are haunted???

Thanks for your input! I was especially astonished that Office Depot doesn't carry this item. When I bought 2 PCs at Banana IT recently, I got two small plastic brushes for cleaning the keyboards. I asked staffs whether they had air duster. They looked at me as if I was from another planet. After having used up the dusters I bought from abroad, I've blown myself silly trying to remove dust from under the keyboards. :( Amorn, here I come!!! :)
