  1. When I went to get my Tourist Visa the consulet in USA said they had a new directive that said I must have a ticket out of LOS within the 60 days or she couldn’t issue my visa.. I tried to explain I was going to extend my TV 60 days based on Marriage... No joy, had to buy a $47 one way ticket to Cambodia... Next year I will do my extension based on Marriage or Retirement and just get a tee try permit and be done with this <deleted> all together... I still work 8 months in the USA annually so the TV and extension was working for me not anymore.... TIT...

Following these questions, I have another one: we hear a lot of what he did in and around Leicester, all good things!

Was he doing some of that stuff in Thailand, too?

    Honest question!

He was a big philamprothist in Thailand also, recently he was giving ambulances to volunteer rescue squads... The Mrs, says he was a very good man to Thailand and will be missed...

  3. As connda said, use the time in the USA to get your wife her citizenship, possible after 3 years of being married and in the USA... 5 years if not married... That will make yours and her life very simple in the future to file for benefits she will be entitled to as your wife.. I insisted we completed my wife's citizenship before we would consider leaving the USA permanently... That way if you do ever want to return stateside it is easy just move back.. No more INS  crap, greencard renewals... If you do leave and she is not a citizen she will have to surrender her greencard and you would have to start all over again if you want to return... Getting it done while here is straight forward and just time and some money to file and process her through the system.. Time and money well spent!!!!

  4. Guys,

It is $20K per person, my wife and I can carry that amount each... After that you need to declare it, but can carry more if you choose to declare...

Bringing currency in or out of Thailand | Royal Thai Embassy

Bringing currency in or out of Thailand. Any person who brings or takes an aggregate amount of foreign currency exceeding USD20,000 or its equivalent out of or into Thailand shall declare such amount of foreign currency to a Customs Officer.
  5. I have a tool/ workshop/storage room off of the garage and a fully outfitted man cave in the house to give me my space and access to what I like to do... Places to go when the family invade for a visit.. My wife was insistent that I have my man cave... great catchthere for sure!!

  6. I have been there 10 years in a row for diving.. We stay at Ohi Phi Island village, great resort and perfect for families!! I avoid the town as the resort has everything I need... great food, breakfast is awesome.. pool is very nice, beach is great for kids very shallow and gradual depth...

  7. Joe, so I am here on a 60 day tourist visa, I am actually staying a total of 101 days, I knew about the 30 day extension so I have booked a trip to KL to get a fresh 30 days when I return.... I will still need to extend that 30 days regardless... By the sounds of it, if I am hearing you correctly I could extended my TV for 60 days and skipped the trip to KL??? This is a real game changer for me and my wife... Please confirm that I could get a total of 120 days on a single entry TV with a 1900B 60 day extension, Thanks!!!

  8. This was all over Thai social media this past weekend... My wife read it to me... It said they were relatively shallow, you had to be an advance diver or better, she had a low air incident and got to her dive buddy... it appears she had already ingested water into her lungs.. they surfaced and she was able to speak before she fainted... Water was coming from her lungs during CPR... I wonder why all of this wasn't report to the news.. or did they not understand the value of the information... She could have been a recent advanced certified diver... Who knows for all that goes on here, she could have been a friend of someone that allowed her to dive with a new open water cert... Regardless a sad way to end one's life, trying to volunteer for a good cause... RIP !!!!

    OK my take.

    On the way out.

    1. Book return ticket (if you want) in the name on the US passport.
    2. Check-in and leave the US on that passport.
    3. Put the US passport away.
    4. At Thai immigration show Thai passport. She may have to explain why there are no Thai stamps and she doesn't have a stamped TM6. Possibly need to talk to a supervisor.

    On the way back.

    1. Check-in using US passport, show Thai passport to check-in agent if asked where the entry stamp is (some ask, some don't).
    2. Leave Thailand on Thai passport.
    3. Enter US on US passport.

This is exactly how she needs to do it.. My wife does this everytime she goes to our home in LOS.. Shes stays 5 months sometimes and never has any issue... She is listed as the owner of the home and the housebook has her name listed in it... Your Mom may have to get added to her parents house book but that would be the only issue at all if any....  Very easy and straight forward to do this type of travel!!!

  10. I shipped a fully stuffed container from the east coast of the USA, I mean full, stuff I couldn't duplicate here at the quality and types of items I shipped over... Not one thing was broken and we had many glass items... If you want things you have or get what you think you may want, I would buy it at home and ship everything you want in your container... You only get one chance to do this with duty free and the paperwork was handled by the agent...  I bought a few high end power converters for my electronics and kitchen appliances simple and easy to do... Many items are dual power but a handful weren't and the converters made it a breeze to use them in Thailand... I am assuming that you are American as you need converters... PM me and I will share where I got my converters from if interested.... The port hassles were non existent, the local moving team was top notch.... No worries in doing so... I am glad I did it 100% support doing a shipment!!!
