I guess from your replies and your successful need to use visa/mastercards "own buyer protection policy" on several occasions you must have been targeted for a lot of fraudulent activity on your cards. Be careful, visa/mastercard might just suspect a problem and give you "special attention".
I didn't say it happened "a lot"
It happened a couple of times in maybe a decade of purchasing but don't the let the facts get in the way of your negative assumptions... ????

No, not paranoid. Once bitten........
My Skype account was hacked into, passwords changed etc and £150.00 of credit bought and used over less than 24 hours while we were away for the weekend. I did have an email from Skype telling me about the password change but didn't see it until we got back. I'd forgotten to remove my card details from Skype after buying a previous top up.
Skype wasn't interested. A lesson learnt.
There is no lesson to learn when you compare apples and oranges
It's perfectly safe to use a visa or mastercard online and avail of their own buyer protection policy and i also have experience asking them to reverse fraudulent charges

For anybody concerned about possible fraud for any purchase, get a pre-paid card, load it for the amount you want to spend and use that. I've always used mine for online purchases and never had a problem.........plus It's impossible for fraudsters to gain access to your details and use them if funds are not available.
Paranoid much? ????

Unless 5g I would hold off buying new phone.
Early 2019 is expected release of 5 g phones by Sony and Samsung.
With actual 5 g network coming albeit a lot later most likely, but you don't want to get stuck with a phone that will be hard to resell and is so 2018
4g speeds will also improve according to some articles i have read because they will have the same capability/bandwidth as usual but shared amongst less users as 5g adoption grows so you don't have to be in the first wave of 5g handset users to see some of the upside
Ais 4g and WiFi coverage in bkk is usually fast enough for me so i won't upgrade immediately just for the sake of having 5g capability because it will be pretty limited coverage until the networks build up their 5g networks anyway and the first 5g phones maybe $200-300 more according to oneplus ceo

Beware that a lot of their third-party sellers are selling fakes. One example is computer memory. For instance if you search for "sd card 256 gb", on the same page you will find one item priced at around 3,000 baht from Lazada's own store and another one at 80 baht from a third party seller. At that price it's fake for sure.
I had to return a fake Samsung ssd last week so it's definitely full of crap

If you don't think Thailand a decent place because of the Thai people, perhaps you are in the wrong place, did you consider that?

I've never seen these type of problems on other high traffic forums
I think they use vBulletin or similar but I'm not a web designer so I don't know if that would fix this....
Or maybe turn off all the ads for a day and see if the forum becomes more usable..... But i guess that suggestion would be unpopular with the owner ????
That pulldown advertising tab thing on the top centre is the most annoying by far imo

I have a 5 year old Lenovo i7 laptop and a 3 year old Lenovo i5 laptop. Both worked fine with 1803 and so far on 1809 which I upgraded them to yesterday
So far the only release of Win 10 neither of them liked was the 1709 version, repeat 1709, from a year ago. Both developed Restart problems about a month after upgrading to 1709 where on some "Restarts" I would get a BSOD. I reset both which is basically a reinstall of 1709 and then they worked fine.
Both worked fine on 1803 and so far both are working fine on 1809.
The only laptop i had grief with was a 2014 dell device
I usually keep all systems up to date for the sake of latest security patches etc but will defer updates for the time being because the system is running fine after 3 calamities with 1803 which lost all the files and needed a total clean installation to fix...
Windows defender, Malwarebytes Pro, avira antivirus and the firewall should hopefully be able to protect the system until i have time to try 1809 and see if it breaks anything/everything
If Microsoft breaks it again i may just install win 7 pro on it and refuse the w10....

Since I'm looking to purchase a SSD as well, how do you recognize a fake one?
Usually the serial number can be verified on the manufacturers website and the better brands have a warranty check built in
Performance too is a factor, my fake one is much slower than it should be too because i own others the exact same model

I got a fake Samsung ssd last week on lazada so yes, theyre still selling a lot of fake crap and now i have the hassle of printing a label and posting it back to them

I took a different path.
Brought my own smartphone from home, LG Aristo. It's capable and inexpensive.
However, for whatever reason, after serious effort, neither I nor 3 mobile stores in Thailand could make a Thai Sim work in it.
Solution?
A truemobile cheapy that has hotspot feature. 600 baht for both phone and one month unlimited data.
So ya, I often carry two phone's so I can tether the smart one, and that's a hassle. But, I've got unlimited data on my home smart phone for crazy cheap.
Android Phones are pretty cheap thesedays, especially the Chinese brands
I wouldn't carry two of them around so i could use one as a modem to send internet to the other one...
What speed is the unlimited Internet showing on Speedtest.net ?
The one they gave me is unlimited 6mb for 189 a week and it has not let me down yet

I'm hoping you will consider the Meizu 16S which may be released in May. It may have a 6.4 inch screen and I know you like big screens. I think you also like big batteries which Meizu's tend not to have, but it may be, oh, 3500 mAh. The 3000 mAh battery on my Meizu 16th I charge about every 3 days, but then I don't use the phone much.
I keep track of upcoming phone rumors, and for me the Meizu 16S will be the best new model of early 2019.
I think for productivity, media, email and browsing going from 6" to 6.4" isn't really different enough to make the upgrade worth it but if meizu make one around 7" id be interested
The only one I've tried from the 3 Is the 7.2" mate 20 x and its impressive , rocket fast, amazing camera, amoled screen and its still doesn't feel "too big" to use easily or pocket it
Moving to 6.99" mi max 3 or the 6.12" honor 8x max would be mainly a downgrade in spec from the mate 10 pro i use now
I would probably have bought the mate 20x already but I want Root access, uninstall bloatware /run custom os like lineage etc
Huawei is still refusing to give out bootloader unlock codes so i probably won't buy another phone from them unless they start allowing users to unlock them again
The new Samsung s10 range is not that far away and they may have one with the spec I'm looking for...
