I'm thinking of cutting the cord now that Netflix has arrived in Thailand. I have true cable at home and really only use it for BBC and movies. If I can find a url where I can watch BBC world news then I might cancel my sub with truecable. I only have wifi at home using mobile network sharing (via dtac).
With netflix I can now watch movies and download any other movies via utorrent. I see no point in keeping Truecable tv if I can watch bbc world online
thanks for your help with this

I found the following url with regards to insurance for cancer from Bangkok insurance.
http://www.bangkokinsurance.com/insurance/cancer-insurance-seller.php
I’m aged in late 40s and thus it would cost 17,000 baht a year for 1000,000 coverage.
If I intend to live out my years in Thailand and if the big C does invade my precious body how much on average would it cost to treat cancer. Obviously it would depend on the type of cancer and severity etc. If you’re a farang and you have been treated for cancer in Thailand how much did it cost you?
If I live for another 25 years then it will cost me around 425,000 in premiums. Then I presume you never know if they will actually pay out.
Whats your opinion on this insurance? Its duly noted that in my case there is no history of cancer in my family.

This is a retarded question I realise but... if there is a 2 prong electrical socket right next to my bed where I rest my head on the pillow each night... Is there any risk of electrical currents passing to me each night? There is nothing usually plugged into the sockets. Is there any risk to me? I hear brain tumours caused by many different issues. Just wondering.

Pay $15000 to evict the locals off these islands. They end up displaced in shanty huts in the outskirts of sihanoukville addicted to booze and yabba. I wonder how much they really paid to the corrupt officials in PP to get that 99 year lease.

I can't find much negative info about this product. Have you ever taken it or do you know anything about it?
Its a high dose and was thinking of taking 1/3 of a tab to start with

Facebook board member cashing out, does not seem to think that he’ll double his money in 1-2 years:
Marc Andreessen, an early Facebook investor and board member since 2008 […] has offloaded more than 73 percent of his total ownership in the company
Marc A is a known venture capitalist. He is likely to be using the funds to invest in a new startup. Him cashing in on fb shares bears no reflection on the company itself.
Today, FB stock trades at a little over 35 times its forward earnings. According to analyst estimates, the company is expected to grow earnings per share by 33% annually over the next five years. Analysts generally consider a stock cheap when its price-to-earnings multiple is less than twice its growth rate.
In the case of FB stock, investors are getting an outright bargain.

The above information disproves any bar stool theories put forward by W tourist.
FB is considered to be one of the hottest stocks on NASDAQ. Its 100% a buy!

We wish this guy good luck with his injuries. Also good luck with the Thai hospital accounts receivable people. hope he had travel insurance.
Australian travel insurances do not cover motorcycle accidents in Thailand or elsewhere.
this is B.S. If you advise the oz travel insurance on the form that you are riding a motorbike then you are covered

I had a colonoscopy over 6 months ago and the dr found a polyp and cut it out. The biopsy results indicated that it was pre cancerous with 'moderate displacia'.
When do you think that I should have another one?
My bowel movements are still strange as I foul myself at least 4 times a day and sometimes have weird pains in my stomach. Can bowel cancer be identified by the camera during the colonoscopy? Is it worth having my stools analysed?
thanks

I had problems with my MacBook Pro.
I took it to Khun Krit, shop just off Huey Keaw, Chiangmai Mai.
He had a look asked if I always used it plug in to mains, I answered Yes and he recommended a battery change.
B2,000 and I was up and running.
He recommended I run it down to about 20 per cent once a month.

Yeap, leaving a lithium ion battery at full charge all the time...like a laptop plugged in all the time/used like a desktop...stresses the battery by being fully/100% charged for an extended period of time...it will shorten its lifespan. And if you put a lithium ion in storage for some reason "do not" store it at 100% charge...store it with a 40 to 50% charge to avoid battery degradation....lithium ion batteries don't like to staying at 100% charge for long periods as it cause some internal chemical reactions that degrades its lifespan. And usually when you buy a new lithium ion battery it comes from the factory with only around a 60% charge because they didn't know how long it might set on a store shelf/in a warehouse before being sold.
My Lenovo laptop has a utility called Energy Manager which manages battery charge and does some other things. The Energy Manager has a conservation mode setting which keeps you battery charged at approx 60% when plugged in versus 100%. Now if I turn the laptop off like I do nightly I must remember to turn the conservation mode back on when I power up the laptop the next morning otherwise the battery will charge to 100% and stay at 100% as long as it plugged in and conservation mode is not turned back on. And when I do forget to turn the Energy Manager on for a couple of days and the battery has been setting a 100% for those days it has been keeping track of that and a warning message will popup recommending I turn on conservation mode to avoid battery life reduction due to a long period of full//100% charge.
See below snapshot of the Energy Manager where it talks Conservation Mode.....and to periodically discharge the battery for battery meter calibration purposes (gives you a more accurate reading of battery charge) as I mentioned in an earlier post. My old Toshiba laptops recommended the same thing about discharging the battery down to around 3 to 5% every few months for battery meter calibration purposes....it don't extend the life of the battery or give it a higher charge...it just re-calibrates the battery meter.
Interesting reply. So when should one recharge the battery exactly? when it gets to 10% OR lower or higher than that?

I just purchased the latest macbook pro with retina and there is the option to open an 'icloud' account.
Do you use icloud? How do you rate it? Is it secure? Do you keep all files, music etc?
Can I save all of my itunes music on icloud? I presume that I still have to sync it in itunes on my laptop ie it cant be played from icloud?
any information is appreciated
thanks

I have a lovely new MBP with retina and it has some existing charge on it. Should I be letting it run out totally or waiting until its below 20% of whatever?
I seem to remember 5 yrs ago the salesperson told me to let it run out fully the first time. He said its better for the battery
What do you think?
thanks

'The wife' was watching tabloid tv program and told me about a pregnant women who was tragically killed due to electrocution from the washing machine. The reporter was talking about the importance of having a 'ground connection'. Are they talking about a safety switch?
When we purchased our high class 25,000 baht washing machine it came with a plastic thing that the washing machine sits on. Its about 2 to 3 inches thick. Is the purpose of that a 'ground connection"? Or are we best to have an electrician install safety switches on the power point where the washing machine plugs into?
What other appliances should we install a safety switch for? Theres one outside the bathroom door which I presume is for the hot water shower system. I still wear rubber thongs in the shower everyday...
I presume the air con system doesnt need one as we obviously use the remote?
Thanks for your opinions on this

This thread belongs in the DIY forum but I cant find it on the main page. I tried using CTRL F (find function) but cannot find it...
We have a wooden floor (cork?) as per the attached photo. The floor is raised in a round area around half a meter. Its like standing on a bubble underneath. As soon as you stand off the area it rises again.
What would be causing this? Im unsure if its our cleaner using the mop everyday or if its the wet weather / dam issue.
How would we fix this? I presume a floor glue is the only option ie take it apart and glue it down?
thanks

Google can not be trusted just because they hit the market so well the last few years. I predict that google will just be a name within 10 years, and nothing special.
bar stool talk at its best. Google is one of the largest companies in the world with huge stockpiles of cash. Is there a search engine that competes with google ....no. What about in 10 yrs? Who knows but one can possibly guarantee that they will still be the market leader.

Nobody obviously has the answer but if one invests 50,000 usd in Google class A shares on Nasdaq now and doesnt touch it for 5 yrs. How much is the share holding worth in 5 yrs.
Google is solid as a rock and evidently one of the strongest companies (financially) in the world.
What do you think?
