  1. The least I can say is you are very inspired by this story. The story itself was rather boring, but you managed to give it some colors (probably because you're a house painter). Thanks for making me laugh.

So, a force of Police, that is actually larger than the number of Police in Pattaya, turn out not to be Police but a mix of those beige uniforms and Navy guys, carry out the largest drugs bust Pattaya has seen and catch 16 offenders, no dealers, nor large ammounts of drugs and affect all other businesses that were operating within the law. The collective talents of volunteers, trained Officers, and Navy professionals capture 16 offenders. That's a ratio of 22 to 1. I bet those statistics stay as hidden as a naked chained Brit in a cell on Soi 9.

Navy guys then. Five of them went in first undercover ahead of the Police. One was dressed as a Red Indian, another a construction worker, a third was in motorcycle leather gear, a new York City cop [bit of a give away] and a guy in beige coloured Postal worker gear [ that was a give away - since when did the post ever arrive in Thailand?] The Lady Boys thought it was operation Cobra all over again. But of course there was a different sting in the tail.

Strange going for nice, quiet, respectable family orientated Soi 6 when just across town off Soi Buckow is the biggest dealing area in Pattaya. Soi Chaiyapum where the NAVY deals its drugs under Police co-operation as they can't do anything about the Navy Uniform or its wearers. Hold on a minute. A need for accuracy. Where the Navy stores ahead of distribution, in those run down cheap rental rooms just off Third Road, its ya-ba tablets.

So lets add a little meat to the bone. A certain Navy Boss orders the shut down interuption of a rival across town and the Police say 'that's a good idea'. But surprise surprise it's all flash and show with no one being put out other than a few lady boys who have to point their pussies at the piss pot in order to register a urine sample that the Police like the colour of. In a working life those girls will have had a good few stranger requests usually involving rubber hose, several pots of jam, a 14 inch dildo they're told to make disappear, a cuddly toy and callingout to an over weight visiting german ' Gunther, Sugar babes I love it whip me harder.' All in a day's work then.

Any more of this and they'll have the drugs off the streets for good.

  2. Does anyone have anything good to say about Thailand on these forums. Seems strange you all choose to live here but only critisive.

The obvious positive point about those news / announcements is they are making me laugh. Good for health, or actually better than thinking too much about how such stupid things can be announced.

About the massive amount of negative points on this forum .. well ... that's the Thaivisa signature. If those comments weren't there, I guess nobody will read the forum. Who cares reading about how genius those police ideas are ?

I don't think it's that easy to find another country with so many news to comment on. It's probably why so many people have left their home country. Just for the pleasure of bashing official PR communication.

    That's Amazing Thailand !

  3. And, what's more: you won't be able anymore to read the news here on Thaivisa since everything will not be functioning anymore.

What a disaster! They should invest billions of dollars immediately and never mind that Thaivisa is hosted in Singapore.

i think LaoPo was refering to the internet connection needed to read TV, as this wouldnt work, ( when it rains the internet doesnt work, dread to think when its a flood )

The good news is we will maybe have 3G.

    OK ... I'm out ....

  4. Im sure many of us have bought the latest hollywood from these stalls, but i for would would be happy to have to pay for originals movie releases to get this god awful stuff of the streets for good, in fact i will no longer buy movies from these vendors from now on!

And with a decent internet connection, you can download any of them anyway. Forget the hassle of facing those guys, opt for home delivery through your favorite torrent client.

  5. Thanks for the replies. all of that makes sense. As for the context, that's just a status someone put on his instant messaging status. I guess that person is busy with boring stuff to do.

  6. A lot of this thread has moved to the "I can't afford to leave here anymore" line.

I don't seriously think all the double pricing / scamming / exchange rate thing is counting for a lot in the drop.

    - double pricing is only boring when you are realizing it. True for expats, not for tourists. Even at 3x or 4x, food is still cheaper here.

    - scamming is and had always been. That's not something new, and once gain, I know a lot of people who were quite happy to get a 300 B tuk tuk drive in BKK (That's sooooo cheap !!!)

    - exchange rate might be valid for some countries, but definitelly not all of them. UK for sure, US maybe, but definitely not the Euro zone. The exchange rate has pretty much not changed over the past 5 years.

1st of all, get the right number. All that discussion started from figures nobody can understand. Then, compare with similar tourism markets. My guess is that's a global downturn in the tourist industry. I don't see how the air transportation market could drop that much without an impact on tourism.

There are a lot of people in this forum always keen to blame the government for anything they do, or don't do actually. I'm going to be a bit blunt here, but you know what ? Not Happy ? Go back home.

  7. I just seen that post, so in case you are still interested:

    - just 2 kickers, one very sharp, the other one sinking on one side. Taco is far better on that side.

    - cable itself is OK

    - a lot of "grass" in the lake. not very pleasant when swimming

    - Daily fare is 350 THB, opened from 10.30 to 18.00

    - It's a 1h15 mn drive from BKK. Very easy to get lost if you don't know the way.

It is definitely not worth the extra distance, except when like me, you get bored with the never ending queue in Taco.

  8. Can you clarify this please - why does the airport need to be re-certified and why would it take 7 days

A bunch of yellow guys have compromised the security for almost a week. Who knows what they could have hidden anywhere in the airport or didn't break any security / computer system.

On top of that some major airline will have to re-check their own interfaces with the airport IT.

  9. Airport to re-open on Dec 15th

BANGKOK, Dec 2 (Reuters) - Bangkok's international airport will remain closed to until Dec. 15 due to a blockade by anti-government protesters, the airport manager said on Tuesday.

"The rally has caused massive damage to the country. We will try to open the airport as soon as possible," Serirat Prasutanond, acting head of Airports of Thailand said in a statement.

The closure refers to passenger flights. One cargo flight left on Tuesday and others were scheduled to follow, the first departures in a week.
