And when is that time? Maybe it has nothing to do with political events at all.
Maybe Sondhi right now is consulting the departure date with fortune tellers and magicians to find the ultimate day when the stars will be in the most favorable position and dark forces will be against the enemy...
I hope you are right. Given the shape of the moon and stars yesterday evening over BKK, it will all end up in a giant fun party !!!

Cargo flights have been resumed already, as long as shippers and airlines are ready. Passenger flights will have to wait for the PAD to leave the airport: http://www.reuters.com/article/marketsNews...K35445920081202
Even though PAD leave by today or anytime soon, it might take a week to operate passenger flights: http://www.reuters.com/article/rbssIndustr...K37308720081201

Seen on the Bangkok post website, Database section August 20th:
The Science and Technology Ministry established a new Time Police branch to catch and punish people who don't set their watches and computers to the exact correct time; fines will be at least 100,000 baht and up to 500,000 baht for anyone running fast or slow, starting with all telecoms companies, TV and radio stations, computer networks and Internet cafes; enforcement begins immediately, and the official time will be kept by, and copied from, the Hydrographic Department of the Royal Thai Navy, none of that fancy ''atomic clock'' nonsense.
I'm just wondering if for any obscur reason 1st of April is falling on August 20th this year.

Check packages with club med (www.clubmed.co.th). They used to have a 4 days package to Maldives, all inclusive (food, drink, activities). I guess the price is around 40K/people. I've been there last October because there was some good promotion.
They have different options for flights, direct with air asia, through singapore or colombo. Prices are a bit different depending on the airline you choose. The resort is in good conditions as it has been rebuilt after the tsunami. Don't forget to bring water shoes with you as there are a lot of broken coral in the lagoon, again because of the tsunami.
You can easily go with the base accomodation (standard I guess). Rooms are confortable and the size is OK. I belive upgrading to water bungalow is not worth the price difference.

Hi,
I have moved to a new appartment with a TOT phone line already installed. Unfortunately, TOT is apparently not able to provide ADSL on that line.
Does anybody know if it's possible to get True ADSL over a TOT line ?
Kind regards,

I've seen those websites already. I'm looking for a shop where 1st I could see the monitor in real, and second try a little bargain

Hi,
everything is almost in the title. I'm looking for a Samsung monitor, SyncMaster 305T (30 inches).
Does anyone know any shop where I could find it in BKK ?
If someone already tried that with a Mac Pro, I'm intersted in getting comments as well.
Thanks.

I'm looking for a Guitar accessory for my Wii and I don't know where to buy that in Bangkok.
Does anybody have any hint ?
BTW, I'm not looking for a guitar bundled with the game, I only need the guitar, I already have the game.

I've been there today and I confirm it's in Siam Center, 4th floor (shop 412/3).
They have a lot of choice, much more than SuperSport and Intensity. They don't have 2008 models, but they offer a 20% discount on 2007 and 30% on 2006 models, which is fair enough.
About the riding spot, I go almost every Sunday morning at Bung Taco. Close from BKK, cheap and good food
If you get there at that time, look for a guy with a brand new white board desperately trying to do a back flip, it's me

Try to clear your cache, you might have a corrupted style sheet stored.

Thanks for the information.

Dear all,
I'm going to move out of my condo end of September or early October, so I publish this post in case someone is interested.
The overall space is 250 sqm, with 3 BR + 1 BR/office, 3 bathroom + 1 toilet, big living room, kitchen and maid room + bathroom. It's on the 4th floor of a 15 floor building and in very good conditions.
In the shared facilities, there are 2 squash courts, basket ball court, tennis court, sauna, function room, playground, huge swiming pool and a park (when I say a park, it's not a garden, really a big park with grass and trees, ideal for children)
It's located in Sukhumvit Soi 49, next to villa market and walking distance to Samitivej hospital. Access to BTS Promphong is very convenient as well.
The monthly rental can be negociated to something like 105K/month.
PM me should you be interested.

I'm planning to buy a Ronix wakeboard and a guy told me about a shop called X-Square or something like that, in Siam Square. Does anybody know about that shop and where it is exactly ?
Thanks.

Good business, isn't it ?
As long as expats' companies will continue to pay outrageous school allowance, i don't see any reason why somenone will not try to make money with it.

Hi, I'm looking for a used Fortuner 3.0 V AT or special Exclusive model.
Low mileage (< 30000 km), preferably year 2006, White, Black or dark grey.
I'm in Bangkok.

Don't expect to have something like in the US. It will depend on your location. Even in Bangkok, all locations are not served by the same company. There are mainly two ISP (True and TOT) for 'high speed' Internet.
I have a 1meg DSL cnx with TOT, and I'm using skype. It's working fine most of the time, but can be very crap from time to time, depending on the connection status.
But anyway, it's fine and cheap. The DSL worth 1000B/month, and calling 'real' phone number (Skype out) is very cheap in a lot of coutries. You can subscribe to a "real" phone number in the US (skype in). Calls to that number will be routed to your skype connection, wherever you are. It's very helpful if some friends or relatives want to call you at local rates.
I would just recommend to buy an external skype phone instead of the std PC speaker/microphone. The quality is much better. I personaly use the Linksys CIT-200. I guess netgear has issued a PC-free version, which is not requirering Skype software to run on your PC.

I booked a flight online with Nokair from BKK to Trang last week, just 3 days before departure. No problem at all.
The website is very easy to use and you can choose your seats.
Check in, boarding and controls were very efficient. We had 2 different planes, both boeing 737. They are in very good condition and the design very fun. Be aware there's no drink and food in eco. If you want some, you can buy it from the crew, very cheap indeed. You can opt for Nokplus ( somehow equivalent to business), larger seat and some snacks/drinks included.

Hi,
I had my telephone and ADSL line installed this week from TOT this week.
That's great. The only problem is I cannot get the PPP link connected !!
I keep calling hot line and they keep telling there's a problem in my area. I just don;t trust them.
Is there anybody having a TOT ADSL line running properly around Sukhumvit 49 ?

Hi,
I will move to Bangkok with my family for at least 2 years mid-next year and I'm currently evaluating the living cost over there.
I'd like to rent a house near the french school (Rachadapisek, Lat Phao). 4 or 5 bedroom around 200 sqm.
How much will it cost for such a retal ?
Any other information I need to know about renting a house (tax, insurance) will be welcome.
Bests.

Airport to re-open on Dec 15th
BANGKOK, Dec 2 (Reuters) - Bangkok's international airport will remain closed to until Dec. 15 due to a blockade by anti-government protesters, the airport manager said on Tuesday.
"The rally has caused massive damage to the country. We will try to open the airport as soon as possible," Serirat Prasutanond, acting head of Airports of Thailand said in a statement.
The closure refers to passenger flights. One cargo flight left on Tuesday and others were scheduled to follow, the first departures in a week.
