UPDATE - Well thanks for the advice all of which was carefully considered.
In the event, finding containers, syphoning off 70 litres of diesel, in a condo car park didn't appeal to me. I had to charge battery, charged it all day, left it off the charger overnight, tested again and it had held most of the charge. Connected it up. Checked for obvious signs of vermin habitation, couldn't find any, possibly because it is condo parking, walled all around and people come and go all the time. Turned on the ignition and left for a minute before trying to start. Fired up first turn. I did observe all the other advice about no high revs until warm, applying brakes slowly and often on a 5km trip around the block. Tyres were a bit "square" but no worse then they have been after a six month layup. New tyres and a full service due next week. Wish I could find a car wash that is open!
Thanks all.

We have been Covid marooned in the UK since March 2020 and emerge from Bangkok ASQ this weekend and will taxi to our Pattaya condo. I will have to visit Soi 5 Chonburi Immigration on Tuesday to lodge TM30/28. I recall something about needing to book an appointment via a QueQ app which I downloaded at the time. I am having trouble finding "Immigration" in the "Public Service" category, which is where I would expect it. My question" Is this app still being used?
Thanks in advance for any update.

Thanks all for the pointers. The tyres were due for replacement anyhow, I'm pleased I didn't get around to that before we left. I will update on the wildlife findings.

I'm not a mechanic and would like some guidance. we left my Mazda BT50 December 2019 to return to UK for three months. 20 months later we are in quarantine in Bangkok and will get to the truck toward the end of the month. I left it covered (that will be destroyed by now) an additional 10 lb psi in the tyres, a full tank of diesel and the battery disconnected. Battery is a now 2 1/2 years old so may need renewing.
My question is, other than getting the battery charged or renewed, should I do anything else before trying to start it?
Thank you in advance for any guidance received.

My local in Jomtien is still organising food handouts supported by donations from regulars. Fortnightly now rather than weekly.

I use Kbank app for PEA, AIS topup and fibre. Never an issue. Unfortunately we are out of the country and gf deleted her Kbank app and is unable to reinstall without access to Kbank ATM, so I get to pay her bills also. ????????????

We left at the beginning of December for planned three months that is now eight. Fortunately emptied fridge, switched it off and left with the door open. Electric and water turned off and pay monthly PEA standing charge online. The tiny water bill for a couple of days in December I settled with the Juristic Office a couple of months ago. Unfortunately still paying AIS and TMN for cable tv. Main concerns are washing machine on the balcony, cockroaches and my vehicles, the covers of which will have disintegrated by now.

I have tried both and now have condos in Thailand and UK. The lock and leave aspect is most appealing and as I age the fact that I only have to take care of interior maintenance is a close second.

Unless it's a RedCross road show I found it impossible to donate in Pattaya. I too go to Red Cross centre in Bangkok.

I am in a similar position. There is a FB grouo"farangs stranded abroad due to Covid ". It has 4500 members, all wishing to return to business or family or to their" "home". As many have already said, we are in the wrong place at the wrong time. My hopes lie with the vendors etc. In places like Pattaya raise their voices about lack of income in our absences. Even then I don't expect much to happen before Q4 and I pray that there will not be a widespread second wave.

We're in a similar position except we've yet to marry. Visitors Visas for China and Taiwan were auto extended in Jan until end March, then all Visitors Visas from March to May and again May to July. We've return tickets with BA who don't look as though they will be doi g much until September. I am hoping that another auto extension until end of September is on the cards.

There should be an option to self isolate for those who have accommodation.

Many bars that I use work on a subsistence basis with a number of deliveries weekly. In view of the quiet high season I would be surprised if large stocks were in hand. The stocks by the breweries and wholesalers won't have moved though.

I have 50-50'd for a decade. I made the mistake of buying my condo because I like my home comforts. In effect my UK life is duplicated. Condo, truck, motorbike, golf clubs etc. I have several friends who do much the same except they rent on a yearly basis so they don't have to cart their stuff to and fro. It is surprising the deals available for annual contracts especially if the time you will be away coincides with Thai low season. Partners? Have twice been in long term and for a middle period of 2-3 year's was unattached. That is really down to personal choice. There are a number of storage places where you can store your gear for a period although cost may equate to an annual rental. I would caution leaving a house empty but a condo with security should be OK in your absence.
These are my views, we are all different.
I suspect post Covid there will be excellent value rentals available. Give it a try but don't burn your boats.
Good Luck.

Came back to Channel Islands to introduce misses to my elderly folks, stayed for Mothers day and still here. No ferries and only compassionate flights from here to UK, and then misses would have to go through hoops to get back to Thailand and no chance for me. Trouble is her Tourist Visa runs out at the end of the month plus I have to remit ฿65k to maintain my O Visa extension which leaves us tight for money. Just have to suck it up. At least everyone has remained virus free and it's been good to take care of my folks.

BBC Radio 5 have covered this subject a couple of times in the last 6 months or so. The reasons given by many were in no particular order, cost, climate and the perception that Thai carers had more respect for the elderly than their UK counterparts.
As a related aside, the Covid 19 virus has had a shocking impact on UK care homes, and reflects the prelevance of western society to put their elderly away. During my decade+ living in LoS I have known a number of ladies who have given up jobs, some successful careers to return home to look after elderly parents. This happens more rarely in UK.

Will we become culturally starved here in Thailand?

If my memory serves me well, music wise there has been a dearth since Scorpions had to cancel their concert as a result of the demise of King Rama IX.
