  1. i've replied to a few PMs on the price, so here's the details, to be transparent:

i purchased price new 720k plus the following mods:

    - carbon termignonis

    - comfort seat

    - tail chop

    - frame sliders

takes the total spent just under 1 year ago to 850k

i'm selling for 700k. assuming 15-20% depeciation for less than 1 year

it's as new, waxed and polished frequently and showroom quality, plus gone thru the pain of breaking in...starting to ride fantastic now it's got 2k on the clock and sounds like a raped ape :)

and yes...purchased from Ducati Thailand so obviously registered here in BKK.

I'm moving to HK, and considered taking it with me...but much hassle with importing so looking to sell here and consider buying again in HK.

  2. Due to an overseas relocation, will be selling a Ducati Monster M1100, 2009 red.

Purchased from Ducati Thailand (Thonglor) under 1 year ago, it has 2000k on the clock and has been broken-in nicely. Completed initial 1k service at Ducati.

Mods are termi carbon exhausts, frame sliders and comfort seat

Well maintained and as new, no falls, no scratches, no dents. Including all service manuals and documentation.

Rides like a dream. Sad to say goodbye but cannot export to my destination country

Drop me contact details here or PM me if interested. Viewing can be done in the Asoke area.

  3. my 12 year old is showing great athletic ability and is starting to compete in sprinting events. The school she attends does'nt have a great athletics department so im thinking of getting her an athletics coach to to get her technique refined a little...nothing too strenuous...just a few lessons to give her some extra confidence.

any recommendations for good coaches out there...or even junior athletic clubs/associations?

  4. I'm personally not planning to run thru any roadblock in a dukes of hazzard reenactment.....and the odd 200 baht here and there is fine....but when the BiB try to pull that stunt another 3 times in 2 weeks...and i might add that those were the ONLY three times i ventured out...that does make me a little pissed and therefore my choosing to ignore boss hog and his BiB's.

If it was 3 times over a month's worth of daily riding, that's perhaps annoying but tolerable.....but when it's 3 times and only those 3 times i have ridden...that's a little too much!

BTW, The latter 3 times i thought i was riding legally...but i just discovered researching last night that it is apparently illegal to have a tinted visor (according to posts on Thai Visa)...if true, that might just be what the BiB are trying to pull me over for. Might explain it...doh.

Better make a trip to Paddock to get that visor changed back to clear.

    :)

  5. guess i'll keep running away from the law. these 4 incidents were all at prakanong via a long stretch from near sukhumvit 62 to Asok ...so seems a regular 'brown' spot there.

As for disrespecting the BiB...what can i say....oooooohhh, i be shittin me pants now.

btw. seems quite a few bitter people out there in ThaiVisa land....

  6. had a new Monster 1100 in red for 2 weeks now. After sales service from Khun J is fatastic. The sales guy was very keen to be buddy buddy but now does'nt want to know me now the sale has been made. That's fine...i have many friends already...just need to keep chasing him for the insurance and reg docs!

had a couple of Ducati's before and this is by far the best. Still breaking in so don't want to screw the engine but can feel the power between my legs :)

    couple of minor irritations...

    - get's REAL hot in traffic and at traffic lights. i live in Asok and being stuck at the Petchaburi road intersection for 2 mins is very uncomfortable. need to keep hopping from foot to foot!

    - my balls got squashed in the stock seat...but changed that to the comfort seat which makes a big difference to my gonads

    - she does'nt like being under 3k revs...so stop and start traffic is a bitch...jerky acceleration at low speeds..need to feather that clutch really hard. have a 14t front sprocket on order to ease that and termi slipon kit may help with fuel supply and smoothness (and that raped Ape noise is fantastic)

Love the admiring looks from the motorbike taxis....but hate being pulled over 3 times by the w@nking boys in brown.

  7. So...on the new bike 2 weeks ago down Sukhumvit and pulled over by the BiB in the 'fast' lane near Prakanong. Told me i could not ride in that lane...(is that true?)...anyway to avoid a trip down to the cop shop to collect my license i handed over 100 baht.

Now...over the past 2 weeks the BiB have attempted to stop me 3 times...holding up thier hands and waving me over. All 3 times i was at normal speed in either the middle or the lane nearest the pavement (don't tell me i can't ride in those frikkin lanes either!). I say attempted, bcos i just rode straight on and ignored the buggers. Seemed to have worked. Noone came after me or radio'd ahead. Probably too many other victims to harass.

The ignore ploy seems to work. :)

    Any similar experiences...?

  8. They may be able to smooth the way for you. I bought a 2nd hand bike a couple of weeks back and they insisted on the embassy letter and they wanted an original, not more than 3 months old, which they kept. I tried registering it with an old embassy letter. They told me its more than their jobs worth, and I believe three people check the documents. It may be these folks can smooth the way for you. I would try them first and and only go to the embassy if they get knocked back. :D

It is true in Thailand that when you think you know the procedure, the rules change. Nothing is set in stone. This is one of the tricky issues with living here; you never really know where you stand and are never really accepted. You will always be a foreigner and at the mercy of public opinion or the government in power :) I have been here 15 years and now don't regard Thailand as my home; I have a permanent home in my home country because of this. Sorry for the rant.

mai chai...yep...agree...rules are fast changin'...and boken at will. luckily the sector i work in here, banking, has more stability than some.

  9. so I guess it goes without saying that you already have a vagina? Or do they throw that in with every Fino purchase anyway? :)

ok...ok, graga...i'm prepared for the easy targets.....having had several red love machines in the UK and latterly Singapore, i died when i saw the S4 pricing here. So this is what i'm gonna do. I'm gonna mod and airbrush the Fino outta all recognition in red with white stripes with a 'my other bike WAS a ducati' slogan on the tail. that's of course if i can get a good tail chop on the fino.....ho hum....

  10. Hi...can anyone point me to a Yamaha showroom near the Asok/Sukhumvit area pls....looking for a Fino.

And whilst i'm here....what documentation do i need to buy a small scooter like the Fino...? Work Permit, passport...and ????

Letter from your embassy saying where you live. They are really strict on documents at the moment; in Chatuchak they will want to keep the original embassy letter, so best get as many done as possible (British Embassy gave me three, but you need to ask them nicely). Apparently all government departments are trying to show the current government that their procedures are clean of corruption, etc. So they are following rules to the book, so to speak. Before you could give them a copy of the letter, and an old one too. Letter needs to be no more than 3 months old.

PS: You can buy a new Fino from independant dealers too. If you are paying cash and want to get a good discount, buy a second hand one (say a could of months old). Only buy new if you are getting it on finance. You don't get any/much discount for cash so almost new is the smart move (unless you don't care what you pay).

thx Mai chai....interestingly i found a Yamaha dealer on Rama III...the first assistant i spoke to told me the same as above...passport, work permit and letter...but about 5 minutes later when discussing the bike spec with the senior guy...he said don't worry about the letter...only work permit and passport needed! And they threw in a helmet and raincoat too. Nice dealer.

    TIT

  11. went there with the 3 kids and the wife and had a pretty good meal. my kids are very selective (ex-pat brats!) and im pretty laid back about food and they really enjoyed the food...young daughter had salmon and the two boys burgers...and they loved the atmosphere with rugby playing on the tvs....

and service was pretty much ok...pleasant waitress (who was busting out of her yellow and green dress)...food came pretty quickly too. and all on a saturday night. Sure....not cheap but i think ok value for the quality plus atmosphere.

only slight dampner was the fat idiot in the next cubicle with his 3 BG friends, eff'ing and blinding away...until i leaned across and politely asked him to shut it.

  12. :) help

I dropped a Nikon Lens of mine whilst on holiday in the states and as a result the lens filter glass smashed but the main body seems ok. Problem is that the metal filter ring seems jammed in to the lens body and i cant remove it however hard i try....even a bit of magic wd40 lube wont shift it.

Anyone know a good specialist Nikon service agent in BKK that might be able to take a look at this? I dont want a cowboy to use a wrench on it.

The lens cost me 60k baht so it's worth salvaging...as i said, it still works ok, i just want to get this dam_n filter ring off the end.

  13. My son has just had his appendix removed, all went well thank goodness. Prior to his op I had spoken to someone else who's son went through the exact procedure a week ago and now I hear another boy in the same year same school has had to have his appendix taken out. Also the daughter of my husband boss went through it only 2 weeks ago. Can it be a virus or is this because times are hard and the hospital needs to make money on farangs?

  14. This July will be taking the family to the US for an east coast road trip, starting in NY and then driving our way down to Florida. We did a road trip a couple of years ago on the west coast and stayed in a number of Best Western hotels which we booked only a few days before we left.

This time I have some time to plan a little better......is there any special deal that a hotel chain (e.g Best Western) have that anyone has experienced?....ie concentrate my accomodation spend for the entire trip on the same hotel chain....

    Any advice welcome....

  15. Hi..

Selling two items as I have purchased a D3.

    - Nikon D300, purchased July 2008 - 38,000 THB

    - Nikon 18-200m VR, purchased Aug 2008 - 20,000 THB

Both good as new in excellent condition, boxed.

Excellent camera and lens for the 'prosumer'. I love this camera but want to go fullframe, hence the D3.

    Sukhumvit Soi 23 area.

Drop me a line if interested.....

  16. Hi. I am looking for a swim coach as I want to start training for a triathlon.

The bike and run elements I can train for no problem...but I need to get back to basics and learn how to swim better if I'm going to manage nearly 2kms of water...at the moment I can do about 2 lengths of the pool and then sink.

Any recommendations for a coach to get me going on the basics?
