  1. I read here a while ago that one member who does the 90 day report by mail uses EMS both ways I.E. both to immigration and the envelope back to himself.

As the postal system has become very erratic I thought I would give it a go (never had any success with on-line) but cannot get either of my local post offices to do it. One way is fine - to immigration - but not for the return envelope, so I am wondering why this might be.

I have a theory (and it is only a theory) that it may be that EMS tracking can only be done from the post office where the service originated from so my question is, do any members have any similar experience or indeed actually know how the system works and can throw some light on this for me.

If it can't be done then that is that but it would be nice to know for sure as I get a bit twitchy over the 6 to 8 weeks it takes for the envelope to travel a distance that takes an hour in a car.

Cheers and have a happy Sunday if you can.

The 7-11 near me has run out of red caviar again. What's the world coming to?

You shouldn't have bought up all the stock then. I have the same problem with a certain brand of Scotch.

    Dutch Mill milk has dissapeared.

Wondering which part of the country you are in as we are experiencing the same for my usual milk brand (definitely creamier). Cannot comment on the other items as they are not on my usual shopping list.

By the way, I'm in Romkloa area, Bangkok.

  4. Definitely seeing shortages of food items (mostly imported) at the 3 main supermarkets I use which are Big C, Villa Market, and Tops.

We have a rice shop in the Bangkok area and even some of our orders are not being fulfilled as the distributors are rationing how many sacks of certain brands customers can have. They say that it is due to trucks carrying stock into Bangkok from certain areas are being prevented from entering and get turned back.

The local market is also reporting similar news on some of their items such as fresh pork which is apparent in the small (but significant) price rises in some products.

  5. I am getting fed up with Thai postal service not returning the form from immigration after I have sent mine by post. It is becoming a drag to have to traipse all the way back out to the far flung 90 day reporting centre time and time again for a process I have already completed so I have a question about the online 90 day reporting.

Do you need the last form sent to you that gives you the date of the next time you need to do the repeat performance?

My last one has yet to appear and I can work out the dates easily enough on when the next is due and would like to try the online option but do not know the information requirements. I did try a couple of times one or two years ago but never successfully got past the first page so have no idea what to expect - should it actually work for me.

Just one of several initial customer touch-points which could be improved upon. Hence my mention of it, as was the entrance description. Valet staff at the main entrance less than helpful. I know it's a Thai thing to have staff standing around gabbing, and not helping customers, but these are first impressions, which influence people long after. These are not to be taken as complaints, rather observations which might allow for improvement.

I kept to the left only because I had been informed of it on the forum here. However, I did see staff directing people to the correct queue as and when they arrived.

Having arrived by car driven by my daughter we initially went to the front entrance and as I exited the vehicle a "Valet" approached me and asked if I was there for a vaccine. When I confirmed that he very politely advised me to go to the entrance further down, opened the car door for me, and when I was back in closed the door gently so no complaints from me there.

Maybe I arrived when there was a different shift on from when you had your experience. I don't know. And as I am pretty much a pacifist I really don't want to start a war of words about this and can only say that we obviously had different experiences so lets shake hands, raise a glass, and have a nice day. Cheers!

Over 60? Hug the left hand side closest to the building, where there is a short line for over 60. Two deep when I arrived. You get a number here.

A big thanks to MTLS5000 for this bit of info. I was there this morning and went from being last in a queue of a couple of hundred or so to being last in a queue of 4 (including me). Passport checked to confirm and the door magically opened and the rest is simply follow the staff's clear instruction. In and out in 45 minutes including the observation time sitting around.

People rave about the MedPark facility/vaccination experience. It was OK, could be a lot better re: initial customer touch-points. For me it reminded me of the DLT, which I also found to be highly efficient at handling masses of people. No clue how they're making any money unless the government is reimbursing them some fixed amount per dose/person? Sure they're getting an awesome list of potential customers (older foreigners, people with conditions, probably most with cash) to whom they can pitch going forward.

The best part is the "observation period" where the Thai lady belts out customer names on her microphone like some school administrator, because continuing to use the number would be too easy.

I was there this morning and found the experience very simple and easy with helpful staff leading the way through every step so I am not sure how the initial customer touch points could be made better unless they made me a coffee as well. Even before entering the hospital there were personnel out in the street pointing you in the right direction so you got the correct entrance.

While waiting in the "observation area" I noted that, in the time I was there, about 80% of the people were Japanese men and women with a smattering of other nationalities such as Indian and Italian. How do I know? Because I was listening to the names being called out and recognised the language variations. It is quite possible that some do not speak English and would not know their number if it was called, however people do tend to remember their own names. I was also quite impressed with the Thai ladies doing the calling as they were very proficient at getting their tongues around foreign names quickly after a quick read from a form.

FYI:  MedPark's online system is still accepting bookings.

I just completed MedPark's online registration form and booked my appointment for Thursday, the 19th, at 15:00.  They will send a  confirmation email in 24 hours.

Strange. Yesterday it said "This form is currently unavailable". After reading your success I checked again just now 18.00 - 13th August and it is still the same blank page with the same message. Cannot explain so I guess it is up to the individual to try for themselves.

My advice is get there before 8:00am.

I’d actually go this week if you can, they won’t cancel your appointment for turning up early.

Thanks Chomper. Depending on my daughter to drive me so will have to see what happens on that score.

Also meant to ask, are they doing vaccinations at the weekend as Saturday is a good option for me.

    Cheers.

  11. Nice to hear so many good things about the hospital procedure. I am due mine on Monday and the appointment is for 11.00 a.m. but judging from previous comments would it be fair to say that the appointment system is no longer valid and one can basically turn up as and when?

Also, from others previous experience, if the appointment system is still holding can someone advise me of a sensible time to arrive for the said time of 11.00.

Many thanks to all for this useful post.

  12. I registered for a vaccine a few weeks ago at Medpark hospital and am due my appointment on the morning of Monday the 16th. I notice that the registration page is now closed and assume it is because the vaccine allocation is used up so I am just wondering if any members have been there recently and if it was a successful trip or not.

I only ask because of the high number of people throughout the country  who had appointments only to find there was not enough vaccine to go around and I don't want to waste my time.

I will be trying to contact the hospital to confirm but from previous comments sometimes that is not successful so any info greatly appreciated.

  13. I also found the link a here a couple of days ago (Thanks to whoever posted it. Much appreciated.), went on line yesterday (Sunday) morning to the MedPark Hospital site and was surprised at how easy it all was. No fuss or obscure actions required and within a couple of minutes had an appointment for mid August which was confirmed by an automatic email.

I know many outside Bangkok feel hard done by, and I can't say I blame them, but only my passport was requested to be brought and no mention of where I live was asked for so I suspect that if you are willing to travel it may be that you could avail yourself of the same.

What is this "huge post office backlog"?

When did you send your filing? Reports currently point to 6 + weeks, from receipt at CW to receiving a next report date slip.

This assumes you filed on time, and that your filing was received.

There are a a lot of Youtube videos which show people driving to MTT, those and the hundreds of posts here, should get you close.

Consider making an appointment as this can speed things up.

    http://203.151.166.132/immigrant_queue/booking/

scroll down, when you get there, to the 90 day MTT option. Spoof your report date if it is past. Bring proof your filing was delievered to CW (EMS screengrab).

Thanks for the input. Got the directions sorted now from info supplied by forum users.

The post office backlog is info from my wife who keeps up with Thai news. Videos and pictures are around (in Thai of course) showing mountains of undelivered mail at almost deserted sorting offices etc due to staff shortage because of covid.

I understand about the long wait but don't want to chance it never being delivered which has been the case a couple of times in the past. Fortunately for me my daughters workplace is closed for 2 weeks so she is available to drive me there. If not, trying to communicate where I wanted to go to a taxi driver from where I live (about an hour away) would have been a problem. Hence the request for directions info.

They go by postage stamp date so don't worry too much for no reason.

It's very easy to find when you enter it into Grab should you decide to go after all:

Thai Immigration (Temporary VISA Extension Center at Muang Thong Tani)

Thanks and just one quick question. When you say "Enter it into Grab" I am not quite sure what that is. Grab Taxi maybe? Never used it so can you enlighten me a little. Thank you.

  16. The huge post office backlog seems to me to be the root of the non arrival of returned 90 day report paperwork and as such I am going to assume mine is never going to arrive and am planning a visit to Muang Thong Thai to do the in-person requirement.

I have been there once before with my daughter driving (it is about an hours drive from where we live) and we went round in circles a bit before finding it and not sure if we can get there again. I know that somewhere on the forum there are instructions on where it is but darned if I can find them using the search facility so was wondering if I could ask someone to repost them for me, or better still, have a google map reference.

Thanks in advance you kind people.

  17. I may be just lucky but I have used Lazada for 3 or 4 years for various items, large and small purchases, and have only ever had one problem, which was definitely the suppliers fault, and it was sorted out fairly quickly.

I would add though that I always use my PC when ordering. When I try to go to the Lazada site using my mobile I never get there as it always wants me to download an app and judging from the 1 and 2 star ratings the app gets along with many many comments of how rubbish it is, I wonder how many of the above users have been ordering via the app and being unsatisfied with the results. Just a thought.

  18. I came here today for the same reason too and wanted to check if we still had to go to the other place (can never remember the name or even where it is) or CW. Glad I did as I sent mine on the first of the month and have had nothing back yet either so based on the above comments I will hang on a little longer.

Just for info, last time this happened I went in person and was admonished by the lady at the counter for not coming sooner. I told her that the information available online said to report if it had not arrived 30 days after due date (I hope that is correct. I am working from memory) and she didn't seem to know or be interested about that but would "let me away with it" this time.

  19. Had a similar problem in the house recently and as the water bills were going through the roof had it checked out by water dept. Turns out we had a leak under the floor somewhere and the easiest solution was to cut out the feed to the whole bottom floor and run new piping above ground throughout. It did the trick and was all done in a day for around 8000 Baht.

Obviously your situation is different but the symptoms seem the same so maybe a closer inspection of the pipework may reveal something.

  20. We have a rice shop in Bangkok Lat Krabang area and as such, over the years we have got to know many of our customers and local people. Many are struggling to get by, especially the older generation, and as such all our glass bottles, paper (including about 100 books I have recently cleared out) , and plastic waste is kept separate and when we have a sack or two it is given to a needy individual. They don't get what we would call lot of cash for the booty but it helps a little.

So maybe if you have a stash of books and magazines you want to clear out you could spare a thought for a hungry neighbor.
