  1. I did my last 90 day report in person at the new temporary place away from Chang Wattana (I know it is spelled incorrectly but I think you know where I mean) and my next report is due next month.

I normally do this by post but it suddenly occurred to me that it may not be to the same postal address as before. Does anybody know for sure or have recent experience of successful posting?

I tried looking at the Immigration Division 1 web site for info but all I get is that the site cannot be reached.

There is a current thread where a guy did not share your good fortune. He actually did dip below the requirements.

If folk can afford it I suggest having an FD account and stick 800+ in it and leave it till next extension. Bullet proof.

It was reading that thread that alerted me to the change of last year. I agree if folks can afford it, leave it, and as I said earlier I rarely drop down but when I did I wasn't aware of the rule changes. My bad there but cannot go back and put the genie into the bottle now.

Yes your correct. I had already noticed my mistake.

Pays to read the whole post.

Good news is he is ok.

Also you made him aware of the need to maintain 400+ up to 2 months prior to his next extension when he needs to bump it up again to the 800k.

    He dodged a bullet.

Phew! Let us hope that, when the time comes, immigration officers, who as we know tend to interoperate things in their own way, agree.

  4. Call me an idiot for not keeping up to date but I have only just recently, thanks to this forum, found out that the rules of the 800,000 in the bank for retirees was changed last year and now also requires the said sum to be in the bank for a 3 month period AFTER the annual renewal visit.

After quickly checking my bank book I see that I may or may not be in trouble depending on which date the 3 month period is taken from.

My last visa extension renewal date was the 7th Jan 2020 and my bank balance dipped under 800,000 on March 31st 2020, which of course is less than 3 months.

The date of my actual visit to immigration in Bangkok was 19th Dec 2019 which means if that is the date from which the calculation is done then I am in the clear.

If the worst scenario happens could anyone advise me on the route to take to avoid having to leave and start over. I have seen on other threads that a certain amount of cash to an agent or the right person would help oil the wheels. As I am rather naive about such things and would like to be prepared if the worst comes to the worst any help with that side of things would also be greatly appreciated.

    Many thanks.

  5. All I can say is somebody must be doing something right and is making money. I cannot speak for anywhere else but where I live in Keharomkloa there are four 7/11's within a two minute walk from my place and all of them do good trade. The one mini Tesco around here is pretty dismal and probably helps keep up the business of the 7/11 directly next door to it.

  6. I was there today also at around 10.30 and was in and out in less than 15 mins. My previous postal experience was also the same in that it wasn't returned but the lady checked on her computer and assured me it was sent. Looking at other posts there seems to be many going astray lately and I suspect the postal service more than immigration. Most likely using Covid as an excuse to cut back services.

I was fortunate enough to have my daughter drive me there - about an hours drive from Lat Krabang - and she used google maps GPS which she had already set up using all the info which I had copied from the many helpful posts in the forum giving directions, photos, etc. So a big shout-out and thank you to all of you wonderful thoughtful people out there. I suspect it would have been a nightmare had I tried to use a taxi from here, what with my limited Thai and all.

The GPS got the last 200 metres wrong and we ended up on a building site but by then it was academic and we were within shouting distance. Again, many thanks all you posters of useful stuff.

According to an earlier Immigration Announcement < see attached below > , if you skipped doing your 90-day report during the Amnesty (it was and still is not required to do it during the Amnesty), you need to regularize your 90-day situation by doing it in person.

IO suggests that you do that in month of August, but if not convenient for you it should be no problem to do it in September before the end of the Amnesty.

Thanks Peter. I do normally do it by post but my last one, not long before the amnesty kicked in, failed to be returned and so I don't have the slip that they send. The required action is to appear in person with proof of posting which I have.

As I said before, it is no biggie. The biggest pain is going to be actually finding this new place which looks to be about an hours drive from where I am.

  8. Planning on going to chaengwattana next Tuesday or Thursday to sort out my 90 day stuff and was just wondering if anyone has been there in the last week or so and what the waiting time was like. Was it crazy time or nice and quiet.

Not a biggie, it would be nice to know whether to take a short novel or War and Peace that's all. Cheers Y'all.

Don't forget to ask them to check your produce by making it in to a sandwich for you.   I mean no one should buy a 39 baht packet of ham without having it tested.

If you don't like it when you get home and make a sandwich get straight back on your mobility scooter and give them hell!!

Dang! Why didn't I think of that. Thanks.

Need to leave the mobility scooter at home though. Last time I took it on the dual carriageway I got stopped and fined.

I’d be embarrassed not being able to find the aisle with the lightbulbs and finding what it is I need by myself.  I certainly wouldn’t ask them to test something that costs less than $2 to see if it works either.

I was thinking exactly the same about not being able to find it yourself although I think it is usually wise to have electrical stuff tested.

Maybe next time I go to a supermarket I will try and see if I can get someone to hunt down the individual grocery items for me while I have a relax outside. Should make for an interesting checkout experience if nothing else.

  11. I was always of the belief that the 800,000 had to be in the bank 3 months before the extension was due and didn't realise that it was a requirement for it to be their 3 months after also. What is the point I ask myself.

We are supposed to have the cash their to show that we can support ourselves, but if you have a need to use it, for instance after a situation that requires immediate financial outlay, you are penalised. Crazy. Or am I missing something.

I wonder why you didn't receive confirmation.

My 90 day was due (at Chanegwattana) June 19, 2020.  Although I was not required to report, I mailed it in early June and received the confirmation a week later. A bit faster than usual.  So I assume they have been working all along

In the 6 years I have been doing it by post I have had one time before when I did not receive anything back, most likely the postal system, and had to go to immigration with my proof of posting. It is possible that is what happened again as it was at the height of all the confusion and the postal system wasn't exactly sorted out. Whatever the reason it looks like a visit is on the cards. Thanks for your input Rabas.

  13. I normally do my 90 day reporting by post and my last one was sent just prior to the amnesty period was announced and therefore I received no confirmation slip back. I would like to carry on using the postal method, mainly because it takes me forever the get to Bangkok immigration from where I live, but I am wondering if it will be accepted if I do not send in the slip along with all the other paperwork. Anyone any thoughts or possibly even used the postal system recently and knows what is what?

  14. Thanks for your input guys.

I found that info about the wheel adjustment earlier Worgeordie but unfortunately the window frame itself doesn't lift high enough to clear the lip far less the wheels.

Didn't know about the lift blocks AhFarangJa and had a look but no luck there as none are fitted. Was hoping you were on to something but such is life (sigh!).

  15. In my house I have the typical aluminium frame sliding windows with fly screens and would like to remove them for a good clean and a wee bit of maintenance but am not having much success.

The fly screens come out easily by lifting and pushing up the sliding wheels at the bottom but I cannot get the windows out using the same principle even though they are basically the same system.

I get as far as lifting, pulling toward me, and they move off the round bar they slide on but then hit a lip on the frame which is higher than the windows will lift so I get no further.

I have also tried removing the outside window first to the edge of the outside lip, lifting the inner window backwards to see if that gives extra leeway but no joy there.

Try as I might I cannot see how they come out (presumably the same way they went in) and was wondering if anyone here has faced this job and managed it and could point me in the right direction.

Googled all over the place but still haven't come up with anything so you guys may be my last hope without calling in a window fitter who I am sure would make me feel quite an idiot when he removes them in ten seconds flat.

    Thanks in advance.

  16. Thanks very much Ubonjoe. Just followed the link and got the info. One more question if I may.

As I have not received the usual form stating when next due etc. I am wondering if that will present a problem later. Also thinking of trying the online option. Last tried a couple of times two or three years ago but never managed to get past the first page for some reason. I am assuming that because it is online I don't need the aforementioned form they send you but that is just an assumption so can you clarify that for me too. Many thanks in advance.

They are open on the 5th.

If it does no get approved it is not big problem since 90 day reporting has been suspended until the July 31st.

I normally do my 90 day reporting by post. My last reporting was due April 8 and I sent off all the docs well ahead of time as usual but have as yet not received the usual stuff back. I was planning on going to Chang wattana  tomorrow (5th May) with my postal receipt etc but have just seen this reference to 90 day reporting being suspended which I was unaware of.

Now I am not sure about anything. Is this why I have not received a reply? Will the 90 day booth be open if I go?

I have done a couple of quick searches using the keywords 90 day, reporting, suspended, etc but not getting much in the way of any results I am looking for so can someone clarify for me the situation please. Much obliged.
