This is what happened to me.
HK to Bangkok (30 days)
Immigration Bkk (30 days)
Cambodia (30 days)
Kanchanaburi Extension (30 days)
Cambodia (30 days)
Northern Thailand Extension (30 days)
So a total of 180 days, and when I was flying out to Myanmar, the lady gave me the riot act, and asked me when I was coming back. I said 3-4 months.......and she wrote something on the computer....
Went to KL after 2 months and will wait 3 months to come back in.....

I lost my passport 1 day before I had to leave. Went to Lumpini Police Station, and they gave me a paper for the USA embassy. Got a new passport in 4 hours, did a visa run to Cambodia.......didn't pay any fine. This was 4 months ago.

Everywhere in the modern world has changed.
I have been coming here since 1985.
I think the most changes in the way Thai's think of the westerner was about 2005.
Mobile phones, cheaper computers......
The last 5 years though has really changed for me as I feel Thailand has taken a LEAP BACKWARDS IN THE GOVERNMENT SECTOR.
People now days are sitting behind their computers all the time.......dreaming of what could be.
But I still favor Thailand over most countries to do a short term/long term layover.

Most I know here in Thailand their computers are loaded with Pirated Software....Go to the States, and get caught and can be 5-10-15-20 K fine......
meanwhile my Mac is humming along, no cash out of the pocket for ohhhhh...THE NEW WINDOWS......

You can do an out and back for another visa exempt entry without a problem. But you might be asked for a ticket out of the country within 30 days to board your return flight.
You can buy a fake ticket out, might have to pay 1,500, another guy in Poipet paid only 400 Bt.

I was talking to my sister a relative of her husband a retired RCMP and his wife are selling everything and want to move to either Thailand or Vietnam I suggested Vietnam and told them all I know about how Thailand is going downhill and backwards faster than a run away train.Had a friend and his wife visit 4 years ago ask about coming back to see again I also told him do not come here go to Vietnam.I told both parties do not waste your time in Thailand it is a shiit hole now.
I have been coming here 30 years.........NOTHING HAS CHANGED.
It's just getting more media coverage, 10 years ago....nobdy was videoing, twitter, instagram...etc..As they are now.

I wonder why anyone would want a police check from authorities known to be corrupt.
As a US citizen, I am in the process of needing a criminal background check,
I get fingerprinted in Bangkok, take the prints and mail them to the FBI in the US, with a check$$, takes 6-8 weeks.
