  1. I arrived in Thailand last October.on a visa exempt stamp. Went to Korat immigration to extent by 30 days. Immigration officer (older guy in the middle) asked if i had reported. I said that i had reported to the local police. Not good enough he said .Korat was my nearest reporting office. He then send me down to the Immigration police office down the stairs where a lady put all my details on the immigration web site. She then gave me a username and password. Went back to immigration officer who gave me another 30 days stamp. No fine.

Came back in start of Feb.logged in and put my details in.Sorted

Perhaps the 200 baht cakes helped

    Hope this helps

Are you saying that Korat immigration signed you up for notifying the arrival of a foreigner at your residence, in this case yourself, online? This is a great service, even simpler than by mail.

Yes. Took 15 mins. Don't know about other immigration centers

  2. As the Schengen sticky suggest I would avoid VFS (saving you a service fee and possibly any incompetence from the not-so-well trained VFS staff). Instructions should be and used to be on the Italian's embassy website on how to get a direct appointment at the embassy. The info from the sticky plus instructions from the embassy should be all you need. As you are not married and AFAIK the Italians not having a definition for longterm unmarried couples she'd fall under the standard Schengen rules rather then the free, simplified procedure for spouses of EU nationals.

    Thanks for that Donutz.

Looking at the Italian Embassy website again it appears that you have to go though VFS with the paperwork first and then they forward it to the embassy. I've just e-mailed VFS hoping to iron out some points.I will start the formal process when i return in June. Anyway prepared to pay the 60 Euro fee

    Cheers

Don't totally understand your post. It is the home owner who has to report your stay within 24 hours. Anyway, we shall see what happens in my case next month. Always look forward (sarcasm) to this once a year ordeal.

My G/F reported me to the local police the day after i arrived. The Policeman would not except the TM30 but filled in a police report that we both took to the Immigration office at Korat when i applied for the extra 30 days

    Hope this clears things up

Hope everything goes OK next visit

  5. Arrived 16 sept received a visa exempt 30 day at the airport. I'd heard that there where fines being dished out for not processing the TM 30 within 24 hours. G/F and I filled the form ant handed it into the local police station (Phimai) the next day. Guy on duty had never seen the form and no one had reported in the past. He looked over the form but would not sign the receipt part because there was not a police signature block at the bottom. Instead he wrote all the details from the form on to a Police Report, signed it and got his boss to sign it. Gave us back the TM 30 and a copy of the police report and sent us on our way.

The next week went to Korat immigration to get a 30 day extension. After a 2 hour wait, got passport signed up. As the IO handed it to me he asked if i had reported to Immigration on my arrival within 24 hours. I thought here comes the fine. I explained everything as above. He then escorted us to the Immigration Police section. Police where very friendly and the man in charge explained that Phimai was within the Korat province and that i had to report to immigration within 24 hours. G/F and him chatted for 30 mins until a secretary arrived. She entered all the details from the TM 30 onto the Immigration website. She said that after the first visit in person i could now report on line for further visits. She gave me a User name and password

All very helpful and friendly and no fine. We'll see if it all works out in Feb when i return

Hope this was of some help

    Regards
