  1. Lopburi is an odd town as there isn't too much there even for the casual tourist. Only real history nuts seem to stay there for a night (or more) I put in a lot of time there over the years as I liked to go there when I wanted to escape 'farangdom' though I've not been in a couple of years so my info could be out of date.

There are very few expats in Lopburi and what little nightlife there is, is much very Thai Style.

There is/was a decent bar at Noom GH off Rachdamnoen rd. (first or second alley on the left walking away from Na Sanprakhran (station) rd).

The gaffer there is a friendly 'Old school' Thai Peua Cheewit former beach bum type, speaks excellent English and has/had built up a decent bar there though the clientèle is mainly backpackers on the North/South trip.

Not far from Noom GH behind Wat Mahathat is a long standing Thai nightclub Jan Jao which has live music from a long established band who on seeing a Westerner in the crowd will churn out some decent quality 'rock standard covers' (Led Zep/Floyd/Eagles/Purple etc) as well as get the place jumping (Thurs to Sun when it's busiest) with their Peua Cheewit tunes and covers. As a bonus they also have friendly 'Promo' girls there and some English is spoken if needed.

There are a few Thai nightclubs scattered around Town but getting around late at night can be a bit of a pain. One time I was there I was taken to a small cluster of places just over the river by a group of Thai lads. Most were OK but one or two were of a more 'nefarious' type of entertainment......

Enjoy, if for nothing else, the fact that very few Westerners have a night out in Lopburi.

I live here with my wife...we don't club it but the information you provided is still relevant. As soon as I can pry my wife away from her family......we're out of here

  2. Did you ever think that loud motorcycles suck? We have a group here that puts stickers up all over the place saying just that! Everyone around you doesn't want to hear your noise pollution.... I'm glad to hear the RTP are finally issuing some fines. Too bad they aren't around my town!

Wish RTP were doing the same in my town as well.....Noise Polluters

  3. I'm sure if they ever do get it together and carry out this ride to rule, the motorists will soon get fed up of not being able to use the left lane because of it being full of motorbikes. Then there is the added inconvenience of waiting for the insurance guy to turn up to deal with all the motorcyclists knocked off by drivers who are virtually incapable of seeing anything beyond their phones Facebook screen smile.png . We know motorists are only pissed off because it takes them so long to get anywhere. If they tried driving in one lane instead of using all three or four in the space of 100 yards traffic flow would probably be a lot better smile.png

Motorists straddling two lanes.....I honk my horn to get past and the Thai wife is mad at me........she's afraid the driver might have a gun ???? I live in BIZZARO world

  4. Yes Hillary got a little emotional when a Greenpeace representative asked her about donations from the Fossil Fuel industry to her campaign. She seemed to lose it a little and said she was sick of the lies from the Sanders campaign. Had really nothing to do with Bernie. It was all done by Greenpeace investigations.

Turns out she has received about $1.3M in direct donations from the Fossil Fuel Industry and a further $3.1M from Fossil Fuel Industry via her Superpac.

Bernie does not accept any money from the Fossil Fuel Industry. He is currently sorting out donations made by private citizens that work in the Fossil Fuel industry with a view to return those donations. Around $50K

    Vote for Bernie.......

  5. Most Thai people cannot swim. Is this because swimming is only available to the rich? Not as far as I can see, there are many places to take your child swimming and for less that a hundred baht. Lots of schools have swimming classes. I don't understand why the majority can't swim. Is it the 'I don't want a suntan and have dark skin' that puts people off learning to swim?

Someone started this white skin craze, for monetary purposes, in a country that bakes people on a daily basis. Young girls like their mothers hide from the sun and swimming is not on their list of things to do.

  6. Despite the negative comments it is good to see the two nations bonding and sharing a common path.

Unfortunately these two Great leaders will not be serving their terms at the same time.......Canada and USA missed out on a multitude of positive changes......now Mr. Trudeau will have to deal with WHAT????? Whatever it turns out to be it won't be good...

  7. Canadians themselves are some of the nicest people anywhere. They have a culture of being polite and hospitable. Most of them live right near the US border partly because it's too danged cold up North and partly because, well, the US is there. Countless numbers of them pour over the US border every day to work. The same with shopping.

I have never heard a fellow American say one bad thing about Canadians. Not once. However, if they want to get involved in our politics, WE'LL BUILD A WALL!!.

    LOL. tongue.png

We want the wall in order to keep you and yours that will be trying to cross into Canada after trumpet gets elected....... NO ENTRY !!

  8. Typical of Canada,Hide their head in the sand and the threat may go away." Hey it ain't our fight as we have had no bombs in Canada yet" "Yall take care of that problem, not us".

Why do you call yourself happy jim? Anyways jim if "y'all" yanks left your bombs at home and store them along with all your household guns there wouldn't be a "problem to take care of"...thanks jim
