  1. To the last few seemingly Thai posters who are overtly exulting in this coverup and complimenting the police, I would like to remind you that the ghosts of the victims are still around and are gonna come after you and haunt you at night if you are deliberately trying to debase the victim's memories by ignoring the mounds of evidence that points to a coverup.

What "evidence" of a cover up? I am not Thai and i am complimenting the police.

  2. Now put yourself in the shoes of the families of the victims.

For several weeks after this tragedy, they have witnessed the incompetence of the investigation, claims and counter-claims.

I am sure all they want now is closure and those accused of the murder of their children prosecuted and - if found guilty - justly sentenced.

Now imagine how they will feel if they never know for sure whether the real murderers are in jail, or walking free and innocent men jailed.

I hope that the families demand independent DNA testing to put their minds at rest over whether the real killers have been found or not.

How is the investigation incompetent? Assuming these guys did it they caught them in a couple weeks. What more can you ask for?!

There are plenty of unsolved murders in the UK:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_unsolved_murders_in_the_United_Kingdom

  3. Sexual voyeurs are sad timid misfits who run away when confronted. I wonder if there has ever been another case in the world where a peeper has slain in the most brutal and violent way possible the couple he was spying on.

And then inexplicably waited around with his two fellow murderers to be arrested for three weeks when they could easily have slipped away, Thailand has sunk to new depths of lies, corruption and injustice over this case.

At what point exactly does sexual arousal while furtively peeping on a courting couple turn into an explosive killing frenzy?

Google Elliot Rodgers, Zodiac killer, any number of killers. Hating or/and Killing a couple is not unheard of. Who knows what happen. Maybe the brits saw them and said something and a argument ensued.

  4. That will be another two "rich" Burmese families on the ever-growing list of Thai "donations".

At the risk of appearing overly skeptical, I think you may be right, Dee-man. This started out ugly and defying the laws of physics, has only gotten worse. The problem for the Thai is that the deceased were citizens of the UK. This is not going to go away without independently verifiable, airtight confirmation. I'm beginning to think the UKSF would have been justified in landing on the beach, quarantining the island, and taking control of the investigation from the onset. In fact until this accursed government capitulates, I would suggest that be the protocol for any further hijinks involving citizens of the Commonwealth.

I can't tell if you are being sarcastic or are crazy.

What defied the laws of physics, please entertain us with you conspiracy theories

  5. Shazaaaam! surprise surprise surprise!

Considering they announced it before they proved it who's surprised at all?

I just don't believe it. It seemed to be a crime of anger, loss of face maybe,

the Burmese I know that I've asked about that in their culture, don't really have it.

Would love to hear the relationship between the two and how it went down. I'm not

going to fall for the walking down the beach and saw them having sex and couldn't control

    myself semi-acceptable story this time.

Maybe the "powerful village headsman" is going to kick the "<deleted>" of his boys to never

pull a stunt like this ever again. Just my opinion of course.

I love how people make fun of those who say a Thai could not have done this yet will say a Burmese person could not have done this. Amazing logic.

  6. For all you people defending the pillars of our communities that are the police heres a story for you. I have a former friend who killed 3 migrant workers while driving drunk on Koh Samui, he has money and was able to buy his way out of that mess by greasing the right palms. The police made it look like the 3 poor blokes on the motorbike were drunk and because they were migrants, nobody cared and there were no family's to deal with! This is a fact so to all you people defending the police I just want you to know that this stuff happens all the time here. It's just the way it is, and if we are not prepared to live with it then we should just pack up and go.

This story actually makes it less likely they are going to frame someone. As you just said 3 migrant workers were killed and there was no family to deal with.

This case is high profile with family and media to deal with.

Do I think there are corrupt police, oh yes. But that being said the high profile nature of this case means the likelihood they can frame someone a lot lower.

  7. At the end of the day who ever killed these 2 people will never get done for it.... And who ever does get done for it is a scape goat. The whole world knows that. Sadly the baby Thai mentality will never be able to grasp it.

You know this how? The last high profile murder was solved and it was two Thai guys. This one will probably be solved also. But somehow magically you know they will never catch the real killers.

You should sell your "I can see the future" abilities for a lot of money.

  8. Meanwhile the island 'family' son, wanted in connection for the crime, refused to give a DNA sample. So much for the rule of law; or legally "ab absurdo".

Actually maybe they are following the RULE OF LAW

In many countries you have to get a warrant to take DNA. To get a warrant you need present proof this person may be involved. Maybe they didn't have any proof.

It is hilarious to read about the police are going to frame someone then on the other hand have complaints that some people will not give their DNA. If you don't trust the police why would you give your DNA?

  9. I'm friends with some people still on Koh Tao, long term expats and I have just seen that that also believe the same as most in this thread - this is a really appalling attempt to frame some Burmese so the police can try and close the case. I think this is a truly shocking turn of events and independent police / experts need to see the evidence etc sad.png

How can you say they are framing these guys when you say you want to see the evidence? You don't know what evidence they have.

We all want to see the evidence. Why don't you wait to see what they present before saying they are framing anyone.

  10. Its a fit up and a bunch of bull.......and so is this ...... "I know a thai person could not do these crimes."

In the thirty years I've been here I've met many that could - also many Europeans, Antipodeans, Americans,Africans, Arabians all capable of perpetrating these crimes however I don't recall actually ever meeting anyone aggressive from Burma and I work with a lot of Burmese people.

Clearly no Burmese person could have done this. I mean just look at the country, it is a land of milk and honey and no violence whatsoever.

  11. I don't believe the confession.

I don't believe the Brit guy and girl were having sex, or even together.

She was dragged off and attacked, he ran to help, now that story makes sense.

I believe it was a Thai related to the head man who is guilty, else why would they covered up for so long.

    Why don't you believe it?

People have sex on the beach. There is a reason there is a drink named "sex on the beach"

  12. I am not convinced.

How could he have a hoe that night ?

Where did he get that hoe ?

It is not normal a tourist has a hoe with himself.

If he had picked the hoe before, it means the murder was premeditate. Absolutely. Otherwise I doubt he found it on the beach.

While a hoe seems to point a little more towards a local it certainly conceivable that anyone could have picked up a hoe that was laying next to a building. On these islands something is always being built or landscaped.

  13. The only thing I can't understand is if the two ''suspects'' being held were lifelong friends with Mr.Miller, why would they be leaving the country so quickly..??

If it was my mate I wouldn't be going anywhere.

If they have no more evidence to give and so can't help in anyway I can understand them wanting to be home.

After that I might want to spend time with family and close friends back home.

  14. All very simple, Watson, if the bloodstains found on the suspect,s clothes found in his luggage match either of the victims, and if his DNA matches with that found in the discarded condom, then there is an extremely strong chance that he is guilty. One strange thing though, who would go to the trouble of using a condom under these circumstances, and then discard it nearby ?

The condom might be from the victims. That being said it is not unheard of a rapist using a condom. Though this seems more of rage killing.

  15. The story seems to be changing yet again.

The BBC is now reporting 2 British brothers are being "escorted" in Bangkok as "possible suspects".

It seems to be a pattern of announcements by the police all leading away from any suggestion that the killer is a Koh Tao resident. Whether it be Burmese migrants, or "a Thai couldn't have committed the crime" or psycho bloodstained backpackers, all statements are placing zero suspicion on people from Koh Tao.

Yet a Koh Tao native would be the most likely to commit such a crime, a sense of impunity, easily offended on home turf, access to a hoe, ability to hide behind and get the support of relatives.

This one ain't gonna be solved.

It is only been two days it is not surprising the murders haven't been completely solved.

If you look at first reports for many murder stories in western countries details and suspects change a lot over the first frenzied couple days.

  16. I believe Prayuth is trying to say that it is dangerous to have some romance on a beach in the middle of the night. Many desperate workers (people) around who might get aroused by that and might do dangerous things.

    That's how i understand it.

So it has not occurred to Prayut and Nickymaster the victims simply might have been walking back to their respective rooms, the boy probably walking the girl home out of courtesy (protection) for the girl???

It is the usual Thai excuse to "save face" and "it is not our fault but YOURS"

If the evidence pointed to that they walking home then it might occur to them. But the evidence strongly points to them having sex at the time of the attack or having had it a short time before the attack. The the pictures and details of the crime point to this. It is not wild speculation. That being said I don't care they were having sex. I don't think less of them.

The PM didn't say they deserved it. His statement was awkward and not the best. Being out late in a dark places can be a risky in many countries. Doesn't mean they deserved it but it does mean people need to be reminded to be cautious. But Some TV posters here LOVE to get on their high horse and prattle on with super righteous indignation.

  17. So they were having sex on the beach and thats justification for some disapproving hypocritical Thai to smash their heads in? Lets have this part of the story "in the news" . No justice EVER for foreigners in the Land of Shame.

Really no justice EVER for foreigners?!

A little extreme don't you think.

The last high profile rape and murder on Koh Samui the Thai police posed as fish buyers and arrested the murders.

    http://www.theguardian.com/uk/2006/jan/18/ukcrime.world

    Justice served.

Please admit you were incorrect in your blanket statement

  18. On Tuesday, Thai junta chief and prime minister Prayut Chan-O-Cha appeared to call into question the victims' conduct in addition to the perpetrators of the attack.

"We have to look into the behaviour of the other party too because this kind of incident should not happen to anybody and it has affected our image," he told reporters, referring to the two tourists.

Thai authorities were working "swiftly" to find the killers, he added.

The family of David Miller said he had been in Thailand on a "well-deserved break" in between finishing a degree in civil and structural engineering at Leeds University in June and starting a masters.

Miller, a "talented" artist who had been due to leave Thailand on Tuesday, was "hard-working, bright, conscientious, with everything to look forward to", his family said in a statement issued by the British Foreign Office.

"We all adored him," the statement read. "He will be sorely, sorely missed."

Koh Tao, home to stunning white sand beaches and azure waters, is popular with divers but is smaller and more laid-back than neighbouring Koh Phanga, which draws hordes of backpackers to its hedonistic "full moon" party.

Speaking later, Prayut said Thais must tell "tourists when the safe times are to be outside, we have to help them understand."

If he really said this, one is at a loss for words. So, now it is irresponsible to be outside at night time. A couple can no longer go to the beach at night. Is this really what he is saying? If so, is he admitting that Thailand is unsafe at night? Is he saying that this place has become so unpredictable, that there is now a safe time and an unsafe time, to be outside? What can one say? Looks like he needs a PR person to vet his comments.

I believe Prayuth is trying to say that it is dangerous to have some romance on a beach in the middle of the night. Many desperate workers (people) around who might get aroused by that and might do dangerous things.

    That's how i understand it.

Your explanation is way too reasonable for hysterical TV posters . Clearly Prayuth meant the killer should be rewarded for killing these two who desecrated the beach. That must be it.
