i once saw someone being made to show 20,000 baht at Poipet. they had to hold it in front of the web cam, next to their face, fanned out to get a photo of all 20k
they were Asian, i think possibly philipino. I was on the next counter, the IO said nothing to me about money.
so can you confirm Mai Sai is open for people without visa, to go and come back in with 15/30 day stamp? because i thought that was not possible anymore

I can just go to Laos and get a visa for 2000 baht double entry.
save 3000 baht and get to travel at the same time and enjoy the best beer in the region in one of the most peaceful and relaxing countries
Because it's multi entry it benefits those travellers that do alot of country hopping.
people who do a lot of country hopping can use 30 day stamps

5am to lunch would be after hours in some places - you know like ibiza, berlin, london
not going to find anything like that in bangkok tho
ecstasy fuelled rave scene never hit thailand

these ISIS spend more time fighting other rebel groups than Assad. and kill more muslims than infidels
the only way out would probably be to join Russia and Iran and back Assad, to end the civil war and get the country back under government control but thats a u-turn of embarrising proportions and would never happen
but we are allies with dictatorships as bad or worse than Assad right now

the Thai authority probably think they need to get a conviction just so they can appease tourists and make it look like they are doing something to protect tourists
but i would have more respect for Thailand and feel safer there if these guys get a fair trial and Not Guilty. There does seem to be enough "reasonable doubt" whether they did it, for sure
others must feel the same way. having a competent police and a just court would raise the country in many peoples eyes
we'll have to wait and see

whats the problem, you only need an extra 30 day you say? just go to Malaysia - no need to get a visa there. just stamp out, stamp back in, get 30 days. exactly the same as your plan at Mai Sai although unfortunately a hell of a lot further to go, but airasia is not expensive, or theres 4 nights on a train there and back
even if you overstay for the full 30 days it will cost you 15,000 baht - 300 quid, can you afford that?
bu the way, i replaced my uk passport from Cambodia (also full) and it only took 10 days for the new one to come back
