  1. Dear all,

Like many, I just learned about the TM30 requirements.

    My questions are:

    - what would be the maximum fine one can get at immigration while trying to do an extension? Is there a fixed rule? What is the max you heard of others being fined?

    - when at immigration, if fined for TM30, do we need to present any documents in order to get it done or do they just fine you and you get the TM30 problem solved?

    - do you need to present TM30 while doing 90 reports? We usually send a messenger and they never asked anything, but that may have changed?

    - is it also required for a re entry permit?

    - last question unrelated: if one has to do 90 report on 17th but has a flight on 19th out of country, is it needed to do 90 report? If not, no consequences later on when doing it again in the future?

I know it is many questions and answers may not be sure, but any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Thank you all!

  2. Dear DUS,

I have done this process for my boyfriend in the past who has TE as well.

You'll need the form, photos mentioned in earlier posts and also I recommend you go copy all pages + departure card in your passport (we missed one and had to walk far to make another copy).

Important to note: you can use Elite service free one time, after that they charge 1,500 baht each time.

In any case, we did it by ourself and it was very easy. Don't bother taking a queue number, just go to N1 counter, wait for one of the lady officers to finish with a customer and gently ask her if it is here to do an extension for Elite visa with a smile if possible. They will take care of you immediately, I guarantee it. The lady with the desk on the right is nice and helpful I recommend her. Then process is 10-15 minutes and cost 1,900 baht.

    Hope this will be helpful

  3. Thank you very much for these responses. A lot of good points are made and it gave us a lot to consider. Ultimately, he is 32 yo and the point would be for him to get a secured visa until he reaches retirement age (although who knows what will be the requirements to retire in 20 years). Maybe the best option is to renew now with a small discount.

But the fact that they give discounts to reapply seems to show they anticipate people to use the extra year and that is lost money for them.

    A lot to consider indeed..

  4. Dear all,

thank you for all the help and positive messages and even a compliment, really nice of you to take the time.

As an update, I called the Elite call center this morning and as they couldn't answer me, they had a sales call me back.

I asked him about it and he told me straight forward that it was not possible. That now with the new boss at immigration, things got tightened a lot (Big Joke? Thought he was gone) and that right now there were many issues with even Elite members. He did mention that it was not giving high privileges anymore. Honestly, he didn't make me feel great about it for someone working for the company, not a great sales pitch..

He then said that it was a "gamble" at the airport immigration, that my boyfriend might get 1 year if the officer doesn't check the expiry date. But if they check he'll get only the remainder of the visa or maybe 30 days if the expiry date is sooner than that.

He finished by saying that anyway, even if my boyfriend ends up getting one year, since his visa would be expired he would be staying in the country without a valid visa and that it would be illegal and would end up in legal troubles. Which is the opposite of what I've read on this thread so far. And I think many of you have more experience on the subject than him..

He also said that since the visa expired on May 25 and that it now takes more time to apply for the visa, he recommends to reapply soon (very soon). I know he is a salesman and that he gets paid on commission. He probably is trying to get a quick sale through me by scaring me off.

But, do you think there is any truth to what he told me? My next step this week will be to contact the immigration at the airport and hear from them.

Any help from you would still be really appreciated!

ps: UKRULES, you said you will find out by yourself next weekend, would be great if you update us afterward. thank you very much!

  5. Oh, sorry I didn't know that some Elite visas gave only 90 days extensions each time, never heard of it. I though you were talking about 90 days report. That is great news though, thank you very much! So, does it mean that this last extension could be made at CW immigration as you said? No need to leave the country then

  6. Thank you for your answer, but is it based on experience or as it is supposed to be? I would like to know if anyone actually did it and if it worked. And I understand there would be no more Elite service for that last year, which makes sense. Thank you for taking the time to answer me, I really appreciate it!
