Oh, or wipes out drunk on a motorcycle.
Other than that, don't hear a damn thing.
After 8pm it's total darkness and no one in sight til 4am next morning.(usually)
Same here, we must live in the quiet Issan village hardly any farangs and definitely no tourists. Loving the clean fresh air and water without the city life hassles.

The recycling pick up calls to our home every few weeks and the payment pays the water bill.
Win -win ????
Ours does the same except the payment pays for funeral insurance.

Pay no attention to these scare mongerers about bringing large amounts of cash into the country, I brought in $A100k cash and all I did was declare at customs before leaving Australia and declare again at customs when I entered the country, I then went straight to SuperRich for the exchange to Baht and then to my bank to deposit. I kept the exchange receipt to show immigration and copies of my Australian bank book just incase they were needed, but they weren’t asked for anyway.

I just reported for my most recent 90 reporting, yesterday and as we are going to visit my wife's family in Korat province my step daughter asked about this TM30 situation.
She was told no need for me to do this just go to the province as planned. There was no need for the form. Now that to me stinks because some place seem to be implementing it others don't seem to care or bother. The whole thing is an utter shambles if you ask me, so will see what happens when we get to my in-laws. It makes you wonder does the right hand know what the left hand is doing? Shocking to say the least.
Been living here for 6 years on non immigrant type O, in and out of the country several times, always on time with my 90 day reports but have never been asked for a TM30.

As an earlier poster wrote - we do not have to carry our passport but we do have to produce it on demand.
I just carry my Thai driver licence and I have never needed anything else - even on domestic flights.
Same here plus my pink Thai ID never had any problems.

I read every response on my post and it is great to hear everyone's opinion.
Both countries are great, as someone said if you have 800k baht in the bank and is a retiree and does not want to do any entrepreneurial work I truly think Thailand is better than Vietnam.
For business Vietnam has made some very big changes and currently they are more open than Thailand. You can own 100% of the share in your company and don't need to employ any Vietnamese. So for a small business Vietnam is probably the better choice.
Talk about ladies...... the Thai ladies are more interested in foreigners than the Vietnamese counterpart. Vietnamese women are more conservative in my opinion and not so interested in foreigners.
Easier to get a girl in Thailand for sure.
The people of Vietnam seem to be more happy and genuine than the Thais.
Vietnamese men specially like to talk to foreigners on a friends level, they are interested in knowing your background and your culture.
Thai men are absolutely not interested in knowing foreigners or being friends w us.
Bangkok is the safer city. Ho Chi Minh specially has a huge petty theft problem and the honking is just a nuisance to say the least.
Vietnam has been opening itself more and more to foreigners, Thailand has not but they will very soon when they see all the business Vietnam will take away from them. This will put some pressure on Thailand for sure.
The free trade agreement they signed w Europe is a game changer and I have read some articles on Nikkei that Thailand is now worried because it will take serious business from here, the article mentioned specially the auto industry.
Getting married to a Vietnamese lady gives a foreigner more benefits than marring a Thai. One of then is being allowed to purchase a house under your name.
Agree mostly what is said here except for the comment about Thai men being absolutely not interested in knowing us, I find that comment to be a fairly ignorant general representation although it might be true in the area you reside.

How many old black men or old white women are ex-pats in Thailand?
I'm not saying that old white guys are cancer. I'm saying that they are seen as a cancer by governments such as Thailand's, hence all the effort to force them out. Please read my post before posting stupid comments.
I see plenty of black men and white woman expats where I live, just because you don’t see them doesn’t mean they aren’t there, please comment on facts you know and don’t assume. I don’t have any problems with the Thai government’s visa requirements they are easy to obtain.

The only photos requested from me was one in front of house showing house number on mail box and 3 standing in front of house together, none inside required.

That is only needed to apply for a non immigrant visa (category O) at immigration.
Not needed for annual extension applications.
FYI I have a visa card from Bangkok Bank I got before the Union Pay thing started. Now I have both cards and just use the Union Pay for ATM's.
You could open an account at Bangkok Bank just for the transfers in and then move it to your Krungsri account.
I got a visa debt card from bkk bank after they brought in the union pay card. I told them I didn’t want the union pay card but had to wait 2 weeks before I could pick up my Visa card.

I recently renewed my Temporary Thai driving licences (2year to 5 year) in Phuket.
To renew, amongst the other documentation, I needed the Certificate of Residence from Phuket Immigration.
When I went to the Phuket Town office, I had the same issue as the OP. They told me to complete the TM30.
It took me a while to understand what the, overworked, volunteer was trying to tell me: Phuket Immigration use the TM30 form as the application form (effectively) for the necessary letter to the Transport department (C of R).
Once I’d completed the TM30 and paid the thb500 fee (twice, in fact, as they told me I’d need two original Certs - one for motorcycle and one for car), they gave me the Certs no problem.
Yes, I do know there’s not meant to be a charge!
I got 2 originals for ฿500

If you traveled outside Thailand and returned you will need the CoR application form as well as a TM30, had to do this just recently at Khon Kaen immigration. I submitted my 90 day report the same day, but that didn’t seem to matter, fee for CoR was ฿500.

Why? I am being singled out for more repetitive paperwork because I live here. I don't live anywhere else. Thailand is the only country that makes me do repetitive paperwork. I should know I do it. Why would I need to travel to find out Thailand want's me to fill out repetitive paperwork.
I live here as well and have no problem with the paperwork, less than an hour out of one day every year [emoji4]- 1

Wrong!
By questioning foreigners about everything and storing these data the foreigners are classed as potential criminals.
Even if you always do the right thing, if there is a crime committed it is so easy to choose a "victim of justice" and building the case around him, or her.
Cannot be done, you say?
Well, history shows otherwise.
Same in your own country, government knows more about you than you know yourself.- 1

What would you call making me fill out paper work twice that you already have the answers to and dumping said paperwork in an inactive file that no one ever reads or refers to?
You need to get out more and travel around a bit, same in many other countries, your not being singled out for more repetitive paperwork just because your here [emoji4]- 1

Did you read my post? It was really a tiny post. It said they already have all the information for retired guys so why ask again? The answer? Harassment.
Read it and still disagree with the term Harassment [emoji13] -

They already know everything about people on retirement extensions the form is just extra paperwork to harass the old fellow.
Nothing harassing about it, if I had immigrants coming to my country to live I'd want to know everything I about them as well.- 6

Never been asked to fill one out when submitting my 90 day reports nor when I renewed my 1 year extension, at Khon Kaen Immigration.

Thai food is not healthy..
Full of ''Sugar, Salt, or Soy Sauce'' then either ''Fried'' in gallons of Oil, or Boiled tasteless...
But the fresh Tropical Fruit is delicious, so for sure, endulge in that...
Everyone's body is different and it wouldn't be just the Thai food making you fat or unhealthy. My wife cooks all my meals and I haven't had any problems, she gets fresh food everyday and doesn't let me near the street carts or leftovers.

Couldn't agree more, I healthier now than before I came here. Its not hard to keep fit, i actually love exercising in the heat, and eating healthy is so easy..
Wife keeps me eating healthy, helping the family on the farm keeps me fit as well, lost the urge to drink alcohol and there are no bars where I am.
Just enjoying good clean living and fresh air.

Letter for immigration from bank shouldn't take 2 days, I went into my bank and was given one within 10 mins, updated my bank book while waiting and lodged my application the same day.

This year was almost unbearable for me after 13 years and I have vowed not to be here another summer. Its not just the heat its the pollution very high levels of co2 in cm. It kills you after a while. Not negative just true.
No pollution where I am [emoji4][emoji106]

The smaller the community the more people look out for each other, I can leave my doors and windows open without any problems, if I did the same back in Australia my place would be emptied. Must say I feel a lot safer here than there.
