You do not need to make a TM30.
However don't be surprised if Jomtien make you do one.
I returned from the UK last Sunday and I just asked the company who's managing the condo to get me a TM30 tomorrow. She told me I might get fined because I did not report back within 24 hrs of my arrival ??? I've never encountered this problem before. Please advise

Any long queues today ?

I expect it to be very busy this week as it was closed for Songkran, so I would be happy to skip that step if possible

Hi guys,
I am going to Jomtien Immigration in the next couple of days to apply for my retirement extension. I already got from them a 3-month visa which expires next week. My question is, I see attached to my passport a notification of address slip that is dated from last September. I have not changed address for the last 3 years and I renewed my lease contract last week for another year. Do I need to get a new notification of address before I proceed for the application or is the old one good enough for this purpose ? Thanks in advance for your replies.

while the re-entry permit desk is located in the passport control area, it is possible to obtain the permit after you've passed through passport control. you don't have to do it before you get stamped out of the country. i'm on an extension of stay based on retirement and always get it after i've passed through passport control. often i go through a different security/passport control hall and have to walk inside the airport to the hall with the re-entry desk. there are signs directing you where to go.
Have you ever done it very early ? Let's say 6:00-7:00 am ?

I am also personally interested on this as I also need to travel abroad myself during this weekend. I am supposed to get my passport with the 3-month visa ( same thing, 1st step towards retirement) on Friday and I am not sure I will have enough time to get a re-entry permit as 1. they don't know what time it will be ready for me to collect it and 2. I will have probably to queue for a ticket for the re-entry permit and judging from the crowds that could take up to 1 hour just to get the queue ticket. So a permit at the airport would serve me well too.

Sorry, I don't understand this. He said he got a 3 month visa a month ago at Jomtien as the first step towards retirement but he has to travel to the US probably tomorrow and he asked if he could avoid going to Jomtien again for this re-entry permit as nowadays the place is extremely crowded.

1&2. Zone 2 after security and prior to passport control
3. Not long perhaps 20mins
4. Yes it will be open.
Note: Optional 200b service fee to fill in TM8 do photo etc
Edit: Does he have an extension You state "He has a 3 month non-O visa as he told me."
He's got 2 more months on his visa. He is planning to apply for retirement extension

Hello to everyone,
A few questions about getting a re-entry permit at Suvarnabhumi please.
1. Where exactly do you need to go ?
2. Apparently before going for the security and immigration checks, right ?
3. How much time does it usually take ?
4. Is this office open 24 hours ? I mean a friend has got an early flight tomorrow at 08:30. Can he get this permit in time ? He has a 3 month non-O visa as he told me.
Many thanks in advance for your replies

Ask Immigration for a 'correct' answer, not on here.
I asked if anyone had any similar experience. That is not a question for immigration and that perhaps could save me a trip to Jomtien where it was extremely crowded yesterday. Do you understand the logic behind this ?

Hello to everyone,
So yesterday, I applied at Jomtien for the first step of a retirement extension, that is for the initial 3 month extension. I was given a date to go back to immigration on the 5th, which is a Monday, to get my passport stamped. Unfortunately today, I got a call from the UK and my elderly father who is unwell for some time is having a serious operation on the morning of the 5th and preferrably I should travel back to the UK a couple of days earlier so I could be by his bedside that day. Are you aware of any circumstances that I could get this stamp from Immigration a couple of days earlier, like on Friday the 2nd so I could travel on the weekend after that ? Many thanks in avance for your replies.

From your above post I notice you have already had funds in bank for more than 2 months.
You need to get confirmation from Jomtien that they will process the non O application.
You could do at same day as application for 30 day extension.
Do you know if they still require a map of the location of your residence ? (not mentioned on the pattaya expats link above)

Would seem you only have 15 days left on your visa exempt entry.
That is not enough hence need to obtain extension.
There is also a problem with that at Jomtien immigration.
Some reports of them only providing the 30 day extension close to expiry of your permission of stay.
You need to check with Jomitien if they are doing non O from visa exempt entry.
Thanks a lot. Will go there on Monday morning with all the papers ready and see what happens

OP, your plan is to enter visa exempt (you have done that already already 15 days in)
Next step to to obtain non O retirement.
You will first need to obtain to obtain 30 day extension prior to the non O as you require 15+ days remaining on your permission of stay to apply for non O
The non O gives a 90 day stamp and in last 30 days with funds having been in bank for two months you obtain 12 month extension.
There is ongoing financial requirements.
Do you have a Thai bank account in your name only?

EDIT: I just saw you post Jomtien.
That rogue office is currently requiring funds in bank required for 2 months PRIOR to applying for the non O.
Currently not sure if they are back in line or still using their own rule book.
I have the funds untouched for many months already. Last year I applied and was given a 3 month visa as the first step towards retiremnt but for seriousfamily reasons I had to leave the country before being able to apply for the 2nd step and missed the dates. Now I have to repeat the process all over gain but I don't know if I go on Monday if there is enough time left on my permission to stay to apply for the 3 month visa

All financial requirements are in order. So do I need to apply for a 30 day extension now or for a non-O as the first step towards retirement extension ?
-
No thai wife or children. I plan to apply for retirement extension at Jomtien. My 30 day visa free entry stamp expires on 5 February. I wonder if I can apply this coming Monday, would that be too late ?
-
Hi to everyone. How long after entering Thailand can I apply for the 60 day extension ? That would be the first step to eventually apply for a retirement extension.I was given a 30 day visa-free period of stay at the airport and I have 15 more days left
-
If anyone knows...If one morning you go and apply for the yearly extension in Jomtien when do you get the stamp and the passport back ? I remember in the previous years it used to be in the afternoon of the same day but lately I believe they ask you to come after a couple of days to collect it.

First you apply for a visa which, when approved, gives you a 90-day permission to stay. This was done by applying with form TM87. It is initially taken under consideration with a report back date. Towards the end of the 90 days, you then apply for a one-year extension of the permission to stay using form TM7.
Thanks. My question is how early can I apply, before the end of the 90 days, as I have to make a trip back to the UK in the next few weeks and I wanted to sort this out first.

did you stick 800k baht in the back in October ? Money needs to be seasoned for 2 months, I think.
If not, stick 800k in the bank, now, and if not long enough for IO, may extend you another 30 or 60 days, till it meets his or her desired time.
Money's been there for a long time

Hi to all. Jutst a quick question if you don't mind. I came to Thailand in early September without a visa and got 1 month permission to stay. Then I went to the Jomtien Immigration to apply for a retirement extension. I provided the whole pack of required docs which were accepted and I was told this is done in 2 steps. First step is, I got an extension to stay until the 17 of December and I was told to go and apply for the 2nd step before that extension expires. As it was not made very clear to me at the time and I did not ask (my mistake) how soon before this 17 Dec date can I go back to apply for the full year ?
Your replies will be greatly appreciated. Many thanks in advance.

As DrJack54 told you, you'll have to start all over again as you're Retirement ext will have expired. However, I wouldn't be concerned about "the whole process of collecting documents, photocopies etc" because you have to do that every year when you renew. I just renewed mine last week and the amount of docs/photocopies is crazy.
So no harm coming back after my extension expired, I would have gone into the same renewal process anyway, correct ?

Read the thread I posted link to where in two different immigration offices refused "conversion" from visa exempt to non O using TM87 was refused.
One would assume that the OP will deal with Jomtien.
Maybe yes perhaps no.
For others reading threads the fact that there are couple of reports placing cloud over conversion from visa exempt entries is significant.
Find your posts tedious.
Now on ignore.
Yes, I am planning to apply in Jomtien

Hi to everyone,
I am renting a condo in Jomtien for more than 1.5 years now and I have more than 850k in the bank for a long time already. I have a retirement extension and a multiple re-entry permit due to expire on 26 July (all was done at Jomtien Immigration Office). The problem is, I am currently in the UK and for business reasons I cannot come back to Thailand before the end of August. Is there a way to renew my retirement extension before or after I come back or will I have to do the whole process of collecting documents, photocopies etc from the beginning after my arrival ? Any advice welcome. Thanks in advance for your replies,
How long is the notification of address valid for ?
in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits

Yes, I used a re-entry permit. I thought the same. I have done that many times and never had a problem
