  1. I am an American staying in Chiang Mai on an O-A multi-entry retirement visa issued in USA. I am contemplating to apply for a new O-A Visa in NYC/DC next year instead of applying for an extension here in Thailand since I've frequent overseas projects. In addition, I'm skeptical moving my money to Thailand, queue at 4am for retirement extension, 90 day reports, etc. Also, I'm aware there're agents but are they really helpful?

For my last medical report the doctor issued copy that was rejected which delayed my application. Can someone suggest a clinic/doctor in NYC/DC to process same day medical report?

  2. If a new passport resets the visa exempt he would like to get a visa in Laos then renew the passport. The passport is full. It has the final 3 pages at the very back of the passport. Will IO even put a visa on those pages?

    His plans are as follows:

    1. Get an Extension for his 30 days exempt in Octomber.

    2. E-visa to Cambodia in November then back to Thailand on exempt

    3. Spent Christmas and New Year in Bali then back to Thailand on exempt

    4. Get a visa in Laos in February

    5. Get new passport

    6. Return to USA

Can 1 thru 4 be done on the final 3 pages located in the back of a USA passport? He spend 6/7 months a year in Thailand. Thanks

  3. No chance. The only way is to arrive there at 11. pm the night before and camp outside all night. And I`m really not joking. If you want quick, then use an agency.

Well, I got there at 5am and there were already 20 people queuing. I wonder what time the first guy got there because he looks like he had not slept at all. The first number was called at 8:45am. It was cool and the mosquitos were unusually active. Personally, the wait was a horrible experience.

  4. Religion is very important aspect of some people life. Even those who have no religion tend to seek out religion in times of despair. Although many choose religion as a platform to discuss, debate and ague, others claimed to find true comfort and peace in troubling times. Given that loneliness and difficulties are normal to tourists and expatriates, some may want to inquire in the religion forum. Therefore, I'm voting for a Christianity Community Forum please.

  5. Your OA visa will not be transferred if you want to do another entry before it expires you will have to show both passports on entry to use it.

Most immigration offices want a copy of every page that has a stamp for entry and departure from Thailand and every Thai visa.

There is a chance that immigration will tell you to do the entry/permit to stay stamp transfer the next time you leave the country by showing both passports since you have a visa entry.

I really appreciate the clear explanation. Just one more question please. I'm going overseas next weekend and will return mid-January 2016. Also, I intended to fly out late February on the day before my visa expired and retun same day to get another free year. Is all this still possible on the new passport? My passport was full so I had to changed it. I'll see what IO said tomorrow.

  6. Thanks for the prompt reply. I just want to clarify what I understood. I've an O-A M-entry based on retirement that was issued on 2/2015 in USA. I arrived in March and I've traveled overseas 4 times since. Should I make photo copies of each arrival and departure stamps in the passport? The Iimmigration office at Promenada told me to go the old office at Central Plaza to do the transfer.

I have seen the shuttle at Central Plaza airport mall but I'm not sure of the exact schedule. I hope someone who have used it could post the schedule.

  7. We were their 1 month and found it as safe as Thailand but a bit more expensive. After a long distance bus station quoted us ticket price higher than train, we decided to travel only by train. We avoided taxi and instead used local bus to get around the city. In Saigon people stared at foreigners like they're aliens but not so in Hanoi. I believe the reason is that they have fewer tourist. The cheapest way to travel between Sagon and Hanoi is to buy a bus ticket through your hotel which make 10 stops to include budget hotels.

  8. A family member and I just came back and I didn't see not one kid asking for money. All the kids I saw were in school uniform and seem busy with their study. We started in the south and ended in the north. I must say I wasn't fond of the taxis and market venders because they hiked the prices for all foreigners. I felt very safe and found it cheap. I'm going back in a couple of months. What to see and where to go just check with your hotels. every hotel sell sightseeing tours and bus tickets. I found some hotels were very pushy to sell tours. Tours were relatively inexpensive such as $7 day tour including lunch.

  9. I've someone who need a visa exempt extension. Anyone know what to bring to get the extension?

We are in Chiangmai close to Maya mall on Nimmanhaenin Rd. I heard the immigration office moved inside a mall that's far away from us. It's quite expensive to take taxi there.

Does anyone know the free shuttle schedule and if there are any stop within 20 minutes of Maya mall?
