At CW the main thing that they want for residence certificate is 90 day report.

You could obtain a screenshot of the TM30 from your landlord.

    Perhaps not even required.

Most all websites I see say that they require the signed TM30 now.  Strange, my 90 days Receipt of Notification, has no address on it. Hard to believe they would accept that.    Maybe I will have a friend call down there and clarify before taking a day off.

    Thanks for the reply

Why don't you register it in Ayutthaya if you are living there?

The DLT in Bangkok probably wants a certificate of residence from Bangkok immigration, which you won't get because you are not living in Bangkok.

The TMXX forms which you found are for permanent residency, that's unrelated to your certificate of residence for registering a vehicle.

Thanks for the reply.  I bought the bike from a dealer in Bangkok but I think he isn't on the best terms with the folks there.  The dealer suggested we do it in BKK and I thought no problem as I have a WP.  Unfortunately, the WP has my company address on it and they won't accept it.  I have bought 3 other vehicles using it.  Going to Ayutthaya is a last resort.  Prefer to go the residency certificate route.  If I go to Ayutthaya, the dealer is not going to help.

I have read many websites and people's experiences.  They are all different.  I need to take a day off work to do this so I want to be sure I have everything I need.  Right now, my main concern is the signed TM-30 by my landlord.  When he registered me online, he said he got no confirmation so only have a screenshot showing it was entered on this date.  No address either.  I have a 90 reporting receipt of Notification but that doesn't show an address either.

    Thanks again for your reply.

  3. Let me give you some background first and then I hope someone of you knowledgeable people can help me out.

I have lived and worked in Thailand for 8.5/6.5 years, same BOI company.  I own a truck and 2 other motorcycles that were registered in my name using my work permit.  Now, Land Office in BKK is asking for a residence certificate when trying to register another bike in my name.  I asked my HR to ask local immigration and they said they don't give them.

Some sites I see you need a signed TM-30 from landlord.  Not sure how to get this as my landlord does online.

Some sites say you need to fill out TM-18 to receive a TM-16, this form doesn't ask for TM-30 but has some very high fees 95K to 105K baht.  I read it is supposed to be free.

I live and work in the Ayutthaya area, would be great if I could obtain from local immigration.

Very confused, need to take a day off to get this so need to get it right the first time.  Any information would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks in advance,

    Jeff

PS, I know I can write a statement and have it stamped by US embassy but prefer not to go that route as it is much more expensive

I too retired two years ago.

It is necessary to go to the BOI office and cancel the work visa. Not really as simple as it sounds as there were at least three steps to that process. And yes you will need a letter from the company that you worked with, and the company needs to go into the system to cancel the work visa and make an appointment for this with the BOI.
Fortunately my Thai company rep. Went with me to the BOI office in Bkk to perform these tasks.

Also be aware that once your B visa is cancelled you have limited amount of time (shown on the cancelled stamp) when you have to leave Thailand. So it is best to do the BOI in the morning, and then travel to your immigration office to apply for the extension to a Non O.

I also did a single entry permit the same day at CW, if so needed.

    Cheers.

PumpkinEater,  Thanks for the info.  I hope it will be simple as long as I am on good terms with my company.  My GM said they will help me with anything as long as it is not illegal, 555.  I work near Ayutthaya and both offices are close and my staff at work have a very good relationship with them.  I will work with them on the requirements and documents beforehand.  So, plan would be to leave office with company staff, stop at bank on the way, get statement, go to BOI and then immigration.  Hopefully, no issues since they will be expecting me.  Immigration and BOI visits have always been very pleasant.  Thanks again for the information.  All information and past experiences is greatly appreciated.

There is an official letter you get from the Labour office when you cancel the W/P. This is reqyuired for the change of Visa. You may need a copy of the company papers as well. They also require the reason for cancellation. Or get the company to do it for you if you are on good terms with them.

    Bagwain,

Thanks for the reply. Yes, currently I am on good terms and I will be retiring so I am hoping for a smooth transition.  Thanks again.  ????

You change the reason for your extension of stay based upon working to retirement without leaving your country.

You will need to be meet the financial requirements for the extension of stay based upon retirement on the day you apply.

Before the change your current extension based upon working must be canceled at the office that issued it and then you can apply for the extension at the immigration office where you are living.

Not sure about your Thai SS question. As far as I know it will depend upon your age and number of years you have been working. I do know that you can continue your medical coverage by arranging to pay a small monthly fee for it.

    UbonJoe,

Thanks for the reply that answers most of my questions.  Sounds fairly simple and straight forward. I will try to go and speak with my immigration office.   Thanks again. ????

  7. All,

I am hoping that all you very knowledgably people can help me prepare for this transition.

    Details:

Went to Singapore in 2015, sent by my BOI company.  Obtained a Non-Immigrant B visa and have been working on extensions till now.  Would like to retire at the end of the year and wondering a few questions.

I have the needed 800K in the bank.

Will I need to leave the country?

Can I do this at my local immigration office in Ayutthaya or need to go to Bangkok?

I also am on Thai SS and was told that I can continue that after I retire.  My Thai friends say it is automatic and you need to continue to pay but I would like some real confirmation.  How to pay, how much to pay and where?

If anyone with this experience can shed some light on any issues that I may encounter, that would be great.

    Thanks in advance,

    Jeff

  8. I just got back from Rayong, stayed at a nice resort which was discounted.  OK place, pictures were slightly deceiving but restaurant prices were outrageous.  Cheapest Thai food was green curry at 280B.  Since we just arrived, we had the one meal there and went 5 minutes down the road and ate reasonably.  So sad, they think they are smart by raising the prices but Thais are going to eat there and neither will I again.

I have manufactured 1,000s of large R.O. drinking water plants for many of the largest suppliers of R.O. plants for over 40 years. In one country we are supplying 6.43 Billion litres of drinking water per day from bore holes with minimal treatment at TDS 250PPM. Drinking R.O. water is not good for your health because it has no minerals If you put R.O. water in a metal car radiator it will eat through the metal until it leaks like a shower spray head. The natural balance is around 150PPM TDS which can be reached by adding minerals to R.O. water. The TDS of 250 PPM that you quote is a good standard for potable water from the tap in most countries. Many well known commercial brands of bottled water no longer supply R.O. water because they realise that R.O. water is not good for health. You can achieve good quality drinking water using Ultrafiltration membrane. I have lived here 26 years and I don't like drinking bottled R.O. Water, only the mineral water which uses Ultrafilitration. At home I boil the water for hot drinks and filter the water for drinking water with a multistage wall mounted system with ultrafiltration. Only once have we had a problem here with high sulphate taste, possibly because they over dosed the Alum at the treatment works. As far as Mi*ere is concerned you should contact Nestle. but first check the seals on the bottles when you buy them because for years the Thais have refilled all sorts of bottles with fake materials. I once worked next to a drinking water supplier in Bangkok and I saw them filling the bottles with tap water instead of from their water treatment plant.

I call BS on RO water eating thru metal, please explain how that is possible as there is nothing left in RO water but water.  Yes, plain water causes corrosion if no antifreeze is used but other than that, nothing wrong with mixing RO water with antifreeze and using it in your metal car radiator.

General policy for the UK, US and Thailand is to test those entering hospital with symptoms. Same same. The US and UK have far more cases. All three countries are under reporting.

I don't know why Thailand has been less affected than other countries (although I have my suspicions) but the fact remains that they have got a grip of the pandemic far more easily than other countries.

Maybe because Jan. thru May is basically summer months here, hot and dry.  How many flu cases are there in the middle of the summer in other countries? N. America it has been winter.  I think for Thailand the start will come soon as the rainy season approaches and immune systems drop.  We shall see.

If you listen to the news reports, or times when more formal or polite speaking / conversation is needed you will hear that most Thai people can indeed pronounce R's and L's perfectly.

A proper qualified Thai teacher will most definitely be able to teach English properly.

R's and L's yes, try getting them to pronounce V's or Z's.

Unless heated, the thc is inactive, so eating doesnt have an effect unless well cooked, that is why the soup had little effect but cookies baked with leaves do, that and the cultivar, there are strains today with more thc in the leaf than in the old Thai buds.

That is just not true.  If you heat trichomes, which are oil based, they dissipate into gases like a vaporizer and doesn't burn the leaf material completely that is why they are better than pure smoking, no tars from the leaf material.  Eat a chuck of hash and tell me you get no effects, I call BS.  It is slower to get into your system but trichomes don't need heat to be activated.  Cooking with too high a heat will vaporize the Trichomes and no benefit at all unless someone is there to inhale it.

    Heads so much better.

    Leaf is a desperate substitute

That depends on the strain and on the type of leaf.  Good strains will have very many trichomes on the leaf, especially bud leaf.  I used to manicure very good and any leaf with trichomes I would save and make killer hash.

Yeah, i have no problem with my son along with other kids sitting in the back of a truck, and the inside of the truck is full of older women.

IF the driver is sensible and competent, ditto the kids in the back (and most kids at an early age realize that tarmac hurts), i see no problem in the above photo.

Lets take another look at that picture. How many parents riding a gaggle of scooters/mopeds would be needed to replace that one pick up taking those kids to their destination. How many 5 seater sedans, how many 7 seat mini vans?

Out in the sticks there are no skytrains. Few regular buses. Expensive tuk tuks. 15 kids - 15 scooters with mum/aunt/uncle running to and fro.

The above photo is just practical for this country at this moment in time.

Wow, you don't care much about your children do you.  It is not the driver of the truck in question.  So, this truck with your children are crossing a intersection nice and safely then another driver rams them from the side because he was in a hurry and didn't care about the light.  Your children get flung out into the highway and get run over by another car.  This would not happen if they were in the vehicle and strapped in by safety belts.

And because Thailand has been doing this for ages makes it alright.  Amazing stupidity in Amazing Thailand.

    you believe wrong, mate.

no one speaks a word of english up here where i am. my wife did the paper work for me at the ltd and everything else i guessed, imitated or knew.

it's not brain surgery, if you have passed the theory test in another country there is no reason why you can't pass it here, even if it takes 3 attempts.

I don't believe you understood my comments correctly.  Not once did I say I had a problem with the test.  I passed the first time with both the motorcycle and the car test having only driven a car with steering wheel on the right a few times.  My comments were about the English capability and knowledge of the people that worked there.

  16. I am trying to buy a truck at the moment, have 35-40% down payment and so far every dealership has asked for a guarantor.  I even have asked about putting 50% down but so far I am getting the same response, you need a guarantor.  From what I have read, every bank is different and there are no set rules.

Now for the funny part, our HR manager where I work said he would be my guarantor, really nice guy and I would never screw him over.  He signed the papers but before I could pick up the truck, he told his wife. She freaked out and was very angry. He told her there was nothing he could do now as he had already signed the papers.  She laughed and said I already called the finance company and stopped the loan.  He told me he will try to convince her otherwise but my confidence level that it will happen is very low.  Back to square one.

  17. I bought a Samsung refrigerator 2 years ago from Power Buy.  All of a sudden it just stopped working.  Light comes on, I hear fans but I don't think the compressor is turning on. both fridge and freezer are not cold.   Took off the rear cover, there are two boards.  A power board and a main board.  Both have LEDs on them and the main board LED is flashing 10 times then off for 2 sec. and then 10 times again.  Power board is steadily flashing but only on and off ever few secs.  Does any one know what the 10 blinks error code is?  I have searched the web but to no avail.

    Thanks in advance,

    Jeff

  18. I pulled onto the sidewalk to park one day around Sukhumvit 12.  As I was getting off the bike and looked over, the police were threading a chain through the wheels of the motorcycles.  I looked at them, nodded and look for another spot.  They left tickets on the bike telling them to go the the station.  Kinda strange I would think they would be there waiting when they returned to collect the money personally.  I was luck that I wasn't 5 minutes earlier.
