The main cause of this is swine flu in China!
Thai exports of chicken to China have increased by 700% in the last year.
No industry can cope with such a dramatic change without problems.
Net result of such a sudden increase in demand is a drop in quality in favour of volume production.
Don't expect much to change until China's pig production returns to normal.
I (er, no, my wife) runs a commercial broiler farm. 5 grow-outs per year, 20,000 birds per grow-out. We can't suddenly squeeze in another 10,000 birds into the shed each time and we can't grow them any quicker. The net result of the swine 'flu problem in China is an increase in pork and chicken prices worldwide - look up pork prices in the UK increasing due to increased exports to China.
The reason for the OP's experience I think (and I can't be sure) is 'woody breast' affecting the chickens at the farm and the processors are allowing it through to the shops and consumer. The OP (OK, his wife) should point out the problem at the store. Probably won't do any good.
Like I said at the start, soak overnight in brine.

Try placing your chicken meat in brine and soak overnight in the fridge.

Meanwhile in Chiang Mai, people who went out for dinner and a drink over the weekend will still need to report to immigration on Mon/Tue that they've got back home.
I'm simply sharing my last experience at my local I/O. I specifically asked about completing a TM30 on my return home if I stayed out of province overnight and the hotel had completed a TM30 when I arrived.
I'm not making any predictions on the actions of I/Os. Everyone's experience (such as yours) maybe different and only time will tell what Immigration rules will appear in the future. But thanks for sharing.

Yep, I had the same message from immigration on my last 90 day report. The hotel still completes a TM30 online but arriving back home there is no need for the householder, landlord, etc to file the return to province.
Never did it anyway and never had any query from immigration either about why I was not re-registered back home after being out of province.

You keeping it here or cruising? Keeping a boat here can be a minefield of regs but I suppose you've done your homework on this. I know cruisers visiting on a visa have been shocked to find they have to check-in and out of each province they visit, not just a Thailand country check-in/out like the rest of the world. B2,000 fine.
PSS have a boatyard near Phuket if you get a fixer-upper - lookup Follow the Boat on YouTube - they were there for a year but apparently the yard manager has left............ and it's not as cheap here now as it was, haul-out and yard rent nearly as much as prices in the west.
$100,000 is really cheap for a boat to 40ft. They are out there but I doubt there's much cheap around here, Langkawi. You'd do better in Europe, USA. Watch out and make sure anything you buy is tax (i.e. VAT) paid, otherwise you are looking at another 20% on top. I looked at an Amel Super Maramu 53ft in Aus for around $200K - bargin, new rig, sails, batteries, radar but it went before I could get the cash together. A fixer-upper maybe cheap to buy but will cost a small fortune to repair and re-fit. Some other guys on YouTube bought a hurricane-damaged cat but that was still around $100K and a year later they're still repairing it.
Good luck anyway mate, as a ex-Merchant Seaman I'd love to get back on the water.

By the heading Yinn, I thought you had worms (in your body).
Yesterday, there was a post about hemorrhoids. So worms seemed akin to that.
Glad to hear that you are okay.
You could be onto something here. Train the worms to eat hemorrhoids?.........

Went to the local store at the crossroads this morning. Chap who did some building for us and I haven't seen for a while was there with his wife. They both gave me a really nice smile and hello. He gave me a big cuddle, slapped my stomach and called me fat. He then asked what I was buying.
Like him? 'Course I do but not because he's Thai, they are just nice people - same as all over the world, good and bad. Nonsense topic.

I really cannot tolerate when they leap out of the toaster. Other than that I tolerate them; as was said they do terminate a lot of insects.
LOL we have a jinjok toaster, he has the sense to get out before it gets too hot.

PS you must check everyday, or the jingjok will die.

You're Thai - I though you'd have all the answers already to educate us farangs.

Last year i suddenly saw a rat running through the livingroom. It went into the kitchen where it was hiding. It was late and i wanted to sleep so i closed the kitchendoor with metal screens against mozzies and thought i'll deal with you tomorrow.
The rat had come through the drain in the shower because the lid was off...i put the lid back on it and went to sleep.
Next day there was a hole in the metal screen of the kitchendoor, the lid of the drain in the shower was out again! and there was poop of it everywhere in the bathroom.
I was amazed that it could make a hole in the metal screen, go back to the showerdrain and even open the lid of it to go back where it came from.....now we never leave the drains open anymore.
Wildlife here is great, it's not the first time I've found a small snake in our bedroom - comes in when we leave dried washing folded in the basket on the verandah for a while or the cleaner leaves the window (and screen) open - if she does that again she's sacked.

I would much rather have jinjoks around than mosquitoes. Jinjoks don't carry dengue fever.
Although I was a bit teed off when a jinjok got itself jammed in the aircon, and the vent would not open.
Has anyone noticed the gecko sound is very similar to F##k you, or is that just my imagination?
Nah, it's just you. Now the 'watchadoin' birds..................

He won't, he'll just wait till the bottle gets full of jinjoks and then post on TV asking how to get rid of bottles of honey filled with dead jinjoks.

This way is cruel.
You can try to free it with vegetable oil but it'll die anyway, those sticky traps are poisionous. We use poision bait for rats. Trouble is they stink to high heaven when they die in the roof space. I have to send the wife up to fetch it out - note: the suspended ceiling won't take my weight LOL

I call BS on this. Seeing a jinjok stuck in a sticky trap is horrible. They would take ages to die, unlike chickens, fish, etc which are dispatched relatively quickly. The comparison between the two is irrevelant. 'Chickens with heads ripped-off' - were did you get that from?

Jin-joks I just tolerate, their droppings are tiny.
But if anyone has a humane trap or deterent for the geckos, I'm very interested....
Sent from my SM-J701F using Thailand Forum - Thaivisa mobile app
How's this for a deterent: move house, try a condo 16 floors up, they shouldn't bother you there.
I'm sitting at my (outdoor) desk next to the (outdoor) kitchen. In front of me, maybe two feet up and away from me on the facing wall is a photo of a previous King. Behind that photo live 3 tokays, I can see two tails hanging down now. Why on earth would I (or anyone else) want to get rid of them. I sweep the verandah of dried <deleted> every morning - no problem.
Snowflakes nowadays, having moved to Thailand, having problems with the local wildlife.
Some people move to villages in the UK that have a local Church and then complain about the noise of the church bells on a Wednesday (practice) and Sunday mornings. Sad really.

Jeez, you want to start trapping jinjoks? Why? Do you know how many bugs they eat? Tokays are even better, we've loads around the outside of the house. A jinjok in the lap is no big deal, I note you are averse to catching ants....get a life.
