they had no problem signing off on the formation of these companies and taking the fees.

No there is not normally a problem setting them up. The problems arise at the end of the financial year was the company actually operating, were profits made and taxes paid. If a profit was made by the companies was she paying any tax on her 49% of 200+ companies. This is when these bogus companies come to light.

I made a mistake when I opened my BB account. Instead of Thepprasit Road (I mile), I went to Central Festival on the theory that the staff would be much more fluent in English there. They weren't but that's water under the bridge

.My main question is does anybody else have experience banking there?  I need to do my yearly extension (retirement) and wondered if anybody knew the best time to go or is it busy all the time.

I know Central opens at 11 but last year at 11 the bank was already busy.

Last thing do you know what time you can access the parking so at least have a chance to get to the bank before anybody else?

What is annoying I know exactly what times the local branch is not busy but you have to do the letter and yearly statement at your home branch.

I have done the letter at a few different branches with no problems. So does not have to be your own branch.

News broke into the public domain yesterday, May 8, as a foreign family sparked national outrage after allowing their daughter to urinate publicly at Bangkok's Wat Phra Kaew, also known as the Temple of the Emerald Buddha. Wat Phra Kaew is not just a major tourist attraction but also a site deeply revered by Thais.

Harit Thavornkij, the eyewitness who exposed the incident, shared an image on his Facebook account of the deed taking place, right outside the palace, inciting a furious response from Thai netizens. Quickly gathering steam, this post has sparked a contentious debate, lightly touching on issues of tourism, respect, public decency and xenophobia.

The photo shows the unidentified foreign couple carelessly observing their young daughter relieving herself, an act perceived as a direct affront to the temple's sanctity. The post has since exploded virally, amassing over 2,600 reactions, 680 comments, and 1,400 shares, with netizens largely expressing dismay and anger.

Many clamoured for stringent actions against such disrespectful behaviour, with calls for blacklisting the family to safeguard national and religious monuments. Others called for a clampdown on visa regulations for tourists, as one user commented, "It's time to focus on quality tourists".

This indignation was noted by Tourism and Sports Minister Sermsak Phongpanich, who told MGR Online that the act was objectionable due to the temple's sanctity and could somewhat tarnish the image of Thai tourism.

However, not all opinions leaned toward outrage. A number of Thai citizens felt the reaction was overblown, highlighting that the young girl herself might have had an urgent need and was too little to understand the gravity of the situation. They argued against locking out tourists based on isolated incidents of misjudgement.

Amid this defining national debate, one Thai user called for equality in the treatment of offenders, suggesting the couple should face charges or fines as a Thai offender would have. The user cited a previous case where a Thai man was punished for spraying graffiti on Wat Phra Kaew's wall, bringing to light possible double-standards in the way local law perceives foreigners vis-a-vis Thai nationals.

How can someone equat this to a Thai spraying graffiti.

  4. Blame the Americans and the European metric system for that. A pint was 20 fluid ounces until the Yanks decided they would make it 16oz same as a pound in weight, So about 450ml as opposed to 570ml. Then in the metric system a 1/2 litre became the EU pint equivalent. Luckily the Brits stayed with the REAL pint.

  5. I agree there is no excuse for being drunk in charge of any motor vehicle. But I would like to see the cctv before I hang him out to dry. 3 people on a motorcycle doing a U turn at 3.15 am I have had taxi bikes U turn in front of me without any warning . What religious thing could anyone be doing at that time. If he was drunk he is at fault 100%,  but the actions of the taxi rider may well have been a factor and maybe he should also held to account.

I tried JIB, Banana IT, Powerbuy, InvadeIT etc etc mai mee

    Any ideas please Samuians?

NB I have had 'made to measure' ones before - not impressed.

ASUS are OK but I would stay clear of ACER. HP and Dell are worth considering, they probably have the best service

If you book an hotel but decide to cancel at the last minute, you lose any deposit you have paid because the hotel could have trouble filling the room at short notice.

Why not have a similar system for these taxis, when you pay a deposit when you book, refundable if you cancel within a certain, reasonable length of time.

I have booked many rides on apps and it is not unusual after waiting for them they cancel on you and you have to try book another. What good for the goose as they say.

The Doctor at BPH told me to wear a hat when out (possible cataracts). So I looked at Decathlon and Lazada, but virtually all they have are baseball caps (which I already have). I want a hat with a brim all round. So where is the place to look for a selection of hats at a reasonable price?

Decathlon have hats of all types including bush style trekking hats with UV protection. did you look on there website and search for men's hats.

Pattaya, Thailand-A 29-year-old transgender woman was arrested in Pattaya after stealing a 300,000 baht gold necklace from a Chinese tourist on Christmas Day. The suspect admitted to the theft and has paid the tourist back for the worth of the stolen necklace.

    image.jpeg

The victim talks to Pattaya tourist police about the crime.

The incident took place on December 25th, 2023, at 3:50 A.M. near Wat Chai on South Pattaya Road. The victim, Mr. Yu Chao, 36, had been walking back to his hotel after a night out when approached by a transgender woman offering companionship, according to him.

Mr. Chao declined the offer of companionship but stated the suspect continued to hug and touch him before he walked away. Shortly after, Mr. Chao found that his gold necklace that he says was worth 300,000 baht had been taken.

Mr. Chao reported the incident to the Chinese Embassy who with the assistance of a translator contacted the Pattaya police station. Since Christmas Pattaya police and tourist police have investigated the incident, led by Pol. Lt. Col. Piyaphong Ensarn.

The article says the necklace was pawned and sold so which was it, pawned or sold. If it was pawned it could not have been sold immediately after by the broker.

    Hello,

Up to now, whenever I went to Pattaya from Bangkok, I took the bus at Ekamai bus station.

Buses from Suvarnabhumi seem to be more modern and with better stops than from Ekamai.

The terminus of Roong Reuang Coach service from Suvarnabhumi is Jomtien Bus Station but they wrote me they have two other stops :

We will have a couple of drop off points at before reaching Central Pattaya intersection and before reaching South Pattaya intersection. On Sukhumvit Road.

The location of these stops on Google maps is not clear for me. Do you know where they exactly are?

    Thanks

They were when the bus turns from the highway on to Sukhumvit and on other near the bridge on Sukhumvit just before Pattaya Tai

We've all been there. Whether it was a rude receptionist, an infestation of bedbugs or the stingy ratio of gin to tonic, sometimes, you've just got to vent.

Not to settle some petty score, no. As part of a noble cause to let the Internet know, so future travellers can choose a little better.

In case you hadn't already guessed, I'm talking about hotel reviews. From contributing to Google Maps' reviews and ratings to leaving a scorching missive on Tripadvisor, there are many ways you can leave feedback for your host. Before you let your righteous indignation splurge all over your keyboard though, consider this: in some places, leaving a negative review can get you in trouble.

Enter: this controversial Reddit thread. In the thread, posted on Monday, a Reddit user made the claim "Thailand not allowing Bad reviews..." instantly sparking discussion among Reddit's r/travel community.

Reviews are a great way to help other travellers out. But in some places, you might be better off staying quiet, as there could be serious consequences.

I think if hotels want to appear on platforms like Agoda, Booking .com and Hotels .com to name a few they should accept that reviews good or bad may be posted. Before they list their hotels, they should be made aware and agree as part of the terms and conditions to accept that reviews good or bad will be left. If they do not agree to the terms, then they should not be allowed to list their property. This would protect the person leaving the review. Of course if they can prove that the review was malicious and false then and only then should they be able to take the reviewer to court.

    Attempted murder. British sociopath.

Sounds like you've already hung, drawn and quartered him. More facts are needed here. He had an argument at 10pm packed his bags and left the fire was reported at 00.10. What time did the chap check out / leave. The fire was reported after the receptionist was taking towels to another room. I tend not to believe a night receptionist in a fairly cheap hotel would be doing that at midnight. When they say the man left / checked out isn't the policy to check his room then.
