Considering the sign saying "ran ahaan the old dutch" it must be that place
I've never tried that beer, is it really good?

I guess that the tuxedo rentalshop in Chiang Rai will have busy times
-
Absolutely not Sven! It must have been the haze that took control over my mind
-
And not only that! I would like to give out some respect to: "Jah, de living God, His Imperial Majesty Haile Selassie I, Ras Tafari, Conquering Lion of de Tribe of Judah, two hundred tweny-fifth ruler of the t'ree-tousand-year-old Ethiopian empire, Lord of Lords, King of Kings, Heir to de T'rone of Salomon".
Haze.

Fabulous news for myself. My visa arrived and I will try to reschedule my trip back to Chiang Rai earlier than expected.
-
Absolutely, also it's always a surprise when they suddenly show up at your doorstep without telling you in advance. I love it.

Native English speaker that is. Not native Thai
-
A TEFL and being native usually helps when teaching at government schools or private language schools. Universities and some high schools do require a degree and that isn't very strange.

I took the liberty of googling and apparently Wi-fi doesn't stand for anything (as for example Hi-fi is High Fidelity). It's just a way of naming electronical products in a way that we know they are compatible. A hot spot is a Wi-fi connection spot or a movie with Don Johnson and Jennifer Connelly, your choice

When it comes to fishing, what is recommendable? I'm just thinking that there must be some nice places for a weekend of fishing with friends.
Sven-Ivan, I think I remember I got the idea for the good morning thread from you actually You can have some credits for it (and if it turns out to be a very bad idea I give you all the credits ).

Good morning Chiang Rai!
I was thinking that people usually do stuff. Well, at least they get out of bed.
Considering all the tips and tricks for visas, buying land, building houses, starting businesses and other boring stuff on the forum, there must be something normal that people do as well. That must be more fun!
What are you up to today? Are you going somewhere interesting, have a hobby to share, found out about an event or just going down the rubbadub or café?
Why not just a: "Good morning, I'm feeling sick"? To get the forum a bit more active I mean, in a less serious way, as well as a bonus.
Myself I'm going to deal with some fantastically boring people about whether the airline will allow me to transport a bowling ball as hand luggage or not and in that case will they store it somewhere else than in the head compartment? Fantastic isn´t it? Your turn.

Very nice, it gives me some time to fight with jetlag before the opening (as well as some break and enter but that's another thread ). It seems good that you interest in schools as well! Farangs contributing to the thai community without beercoolers or "kep tang"
It sounds great Limbo!

And people still use fences, window bars and walls around here so there must be something sneaking around (it's not me, I can't sneak).

Many questions here. Of course we shouldn't mind a few extra CCs or KGs (especially since my plan to drop a few of the latter went down the drain). But now I feel bad having such a personally attached name of the club
-
Cool picture but it doesn't fit in my gang of heroes on semi automatic steeds!
Seriously, I would had been great to attend the gathering but since I'm still in the country at which the weather gods just went: "aaah, we'll skip that", I'm not seeing anything of C1 until the end of jan or even beginning of feb.
-
Oh, it seems that there are alot of gangs in Chiang Rai. In that case I'll start my own and compete for some serious REP! It's going to be called "Goski's Motosay Bonanza" and there will be a 110 CC limit and you have to weigh more than 220 pounds (motorbike excluded).

Yes. I personally liked the last edition I read the best (in an antagonistic kind of way). Must have been december's edition. The thai language section was my favourite where the writer both tried to establish himself as a cunning, daring, ironic butin the end completely useless and full of mistakes. Funny reading I must say.
Other than that, no, the magazine was never good but then again it might have been giving it some time (if it's going to disappear that is).
It's still funny to read about local stuff, I mean the interviews they had in the beginning were quite ok. A bit funnier if they had done it at 11 pm on a Friday night perhaps.

Trivia
in Chiang Rai
I only recognize one person there, good I didn't go.

It DOES sound tempting with a bar in AUA...
It might even get the kids to read books....

Happy new year CRG!
That sounds like a really nice plan and with that kind of start it will without a doubt get some attention as well. So it is going to be a general library for the community and not a special focus on students?
-
It seems reasonable sceadu! But sometimes the Thai system is still confusing even though computers are involved. Anyway, good story for those who want to do the same.
I'm coming in with a clean passport this time since I took the opportunity to get a new one from my home country. But then again I'm also taking the opportunity to get a proper visa.
Well, tsunamis, coups, bad weather and now bombs, maybe some lax rules will benefit Thailand after all. Who knows?
-
But it doesn´t tell whether a person with a red stamp on his 3rd visarun from 1st of october can still do the same. Which is the critical bit of the whole visarunchabang that's going on.
You can have 30-40 stamps but no problem getting a new tourist visa and you can have 3 stamps with a problem if you're unlucky. Depends on your timing, how consistent the visa runs are and so on.

I agree, drinking on new year's eve is blasphemous!
But watch that sugarlevel, coke isn´t that innocent either!
