  1. Thank you very much for all the help, now i will study the links.

I found urea, and mollasses :o in really one pot of molasses stand on my land for about 8 month and i always wonder what it is (my wife wanted to start to mix with ricestray but had never the time or whatever else ... yeah thats how the things work here (sorry).

Sundrieing is possible and i did it already, only i ve read about a project (from University in Vietnam) and they found out that the quality and the weigthgain is much more high with silage cassave and the numbers of the counted wormeggs degcreased alot. Only grass about 2500, Cassava sundried 1500, Cassava silage 300 !

Thats why i wanna do it, cuz the goats have exspecially in the raintime wormproblems!

Yeah yeah life is not easy, thanks a lot, i am happy i dont stay alone with all that problems.

    Bye

    Frank

  2. hmmm, urea as fertilizer ?! What is the thainame or the label of the product (you know if i ask about urea they wont understand what i mean :D )

Isnt it dangerous ?! I heard about that, a thaiman which milkcows use some fertilizer inside the food and him told us it is a bit dangerous (but i dont like him anyway).

Are the molasses out of sugercane ?! And how you/or others do it, cut it into small pieces and add it ? (Sorry if i ask to stupid :o ) but the main problem here is that the food is low quality and any (sure) way to increase the protein level make me listen up. :D

I guess you know that. How about your cows, experieced you that they grow more fast after you startet with silagefood and addons ?

Do you have thaicows or milkcows ? (I have 20 Thaicows, but they are grassing in the dschungle so i dont have to worry to much about food)

I was to stupid when i bought them, and instead of the big white ones I bought the small brown one (because they had so beautifull eyes, stupid na) - I thoughed that time (2 years ago) smaller cows, smaller pieces, so easier to sell :D

Ok thank you for your help and good luck with your work

    Frank

  3. Dear Rc,

thank you very much for the advise. It is a start.

So i dont need any cemicals ?! And i read the material needed to pressure together.

I just tried it. I took Cassava leaves in a plastik pot i guess about (20-40kg) and took a plastik and barbellweights on the top. (3 days ago).

Now how long i have to wait ?!

My intention is first to find out how it works and later to ensile cassava leaves for feed my goats if it works. :o

  4. :o last year my parents went here (quite old) and i advised them to visit me in the winter time because it wont be to got (good for them).

But like the most know, it was hooooot.

This year i didnt checked the temeratures and i though hmmm now after 5 years i may be adapted to the heat ( good so, because the next summer will come soon).

:D but 10 and lower, it cant be normal.

My father in law told me too, it will last a month.

The hammer is that we had rain last night (Cold and rain in isaan :D normaly impossible)

    Frank

  5. hmmm sound arkward :D external abszesses i had already with 2 or 3 goats, i decided from case to case to give an antibiotic (oxtra) or not.

I had further 2 goats, they became like you discribed, slimm, slimmer, slimmest.

I didnt knew what they had, no diarrhoe, only very depressed and they ate little.

I gave Vit B12 (metabolism) , B Complex, Vit ADE, (the Selenium i dont inject anymore because i have my loose minerals and there is all in it (only i found out that goats could need the double copper than sheeps).

Ok with one it worked and her still stay (i was very happy when her start to fight the others :D ).

The other one (got it after kidding) died. First i was ashamed if my goats died because i though iam unable to care, but i read a lot about other goatowners in America, Australia, New Zealand and found out that it is normal and happens from time to time. :o

A (new) trick (for me ) is to mix an egg with 2 teaspoons of honey, and a cup of warm water, i take the mix in a class coke bottle and forced her to eat.

After 1 week :D . It works very well.

About my import of goats: I need if i want to do this some people who really want to start with goats and have an interest of import (foolblood Saanen (Diary goats), Anglo Nubians (Diary - meat goats), Boers (meat goats ) the best quality you can get.

The reason is (the goats arent too expensive) but the shipping cost are very high, so i have to import the maximum of animals that the cost per head is the lower. (cuz fixcostdegression, min. 30.000 per head incl. everything)

There would be place for about 30 animals (6 to 8 month old) and i would take about 10 to 12.

If anybody read this and have an really interest (the formalities i will do, there will be no problems) contact me.

    Bye Frank

  6. Hello ray,

its not a fun project, its horrible work and if you wanna do it you need workers you can trust (they have to know about what to do and have to do it carefully).

The most people build small shelter (like above described) and you have to catch the season. Even if you are careful - if you catch a virus and walk from one house to the other, everything is destroyed. The next thing if you do it for a bussiness you produce a lot of trash (old sthinky grass) so if you stay in the middle of a village it isnt so nice.

Further in the cold time, like now, they burn a lot of wood (car tyres too :o ) to provide the shelters with warm air.

A good idea would be to grow special mushrooms, i though about it because my house has a celler and the clima down there would be exactly right.

But all the thrash and ............. I didnt done it.

I know that the Isan people run in the mountains (small hills) to pick mushrooms in the season and they really like it (if it would be possible to plant this wild kind of mushroom it would be a great bussiness) but all people told me it is impossible.

So thai mushrooms is a bussiness if it is done right. (But not easy, like everything)

  7. Hello

ok i phoned the doc, and him told me that the results not finished yet.

I got angry and ask him if him did the blood samples inside a soup (gui tiau) and ate it or what.

    3 days later:

after a lot of preasure i have the results at least, everything ok, no problem about CAE, Jonsons, and so on. Only a bit copper defizit. So i will balance this out with minerals supplement.

Nowadays i start to plant new food. So i am busy.

    Thanks for advise!

    Frank

  8. I wouldnt judge the newbies down, we all had our "movies" when we came here and whom remembers ...?

An oldtimer came and gave an advice, but in your mood you listened and though hmm yeah yeah strange old guy.... and after a while... ###### him was right !

The last 5 years - more and more farrangs came to Korat and here to my area.

When i came here first i count 6 farrangs, today its about 250 but not all of them stay steadiely. (Work).

What i worry about is how the policy will react if our strange culture now "polutes" (they might see it in that way) the countrieside.

Next year they will open an immigration in Korat ?! (Is this service ? Control !?)

Funny in here is the point about to master the path between "chai dee" (means stupid in a hidden sense) and kineau - i did it 5 years ago and so i am still here.

I really have a kind of a feeling that i am integrated (as well as possible) and i dont think to much about overpay, or tips here and there.

Nobody expect it and if i would start it ..... oh oh oh.

    Frank

  9. About AI:

I am sure you can get high quality, exspecially in Australia, but i meant the process to inseminate isnt so easy (for me). :o

@ bina About Anglo Nubians, i guess they may give more milk in your area then in Thailand, the favourite breeds for milk is the saanen goat ( or zaanen like you wrote).

Not far from here is a farm with about 30000 saanen, owned by the young brother of the Cattle baron of thailand. They produce thousend of liters of milk for the international market. (By the way him invested 300 Million Baht !!!, to set this all up) I really dont play in that liga :D

With Johnsens, or CAE i haven t any problems till now, tomorrow my test results will come from the lab ( 4 weeks !!! i hope the blood samples still was good when they checked it) so i will know more.

Hoove trimming is a nightmare for me, and i will cull every goat which makes me crazy about that or minimum i wont breed with it (her).

I guess later i will get rid of this problem. If you buy goats look for strong legs, so you wont have the problem with hoove trimming if the ground no toooooo soft.

Today i got great news about goat food (top secret if till i know it works really out :D )

    :D

    Bye bye

    Frank

  10. Hello and thank you for your advices !!!

I may be one of the younger fools who came here to start a new life or which will fail in the future as so many others.

It is really not my intention to push up about money ( I mean to have a big mouth ) and i am far away from playing any game.

I only think about the future and i am now 34 years old. (now many will think Ohhh my Goood)

So if i have to transfer every year exspecially to a fixed time 400.000 Baht and after i invest it - because i dont believe that thailand has an inflation rate about 2 to 4 % (i am not so sure about the exactly rate now I am to lazy to look) like the official rate is annouced (i am sure the real inflation is about 15 to 20% sectoral more, my house would cost the twice then 2 years ago, my cows gained 30% up in price in about 1,5 year) - so i think how much it may be in the future ... in 10 year 4.000.000 in 20 8.000.000 and then i will be just 54 !

Although if the inflation is so high and the farrang currencies ($, Euro) and so on will balance this out, my problem will be blown in the wind.

(But this only if they wont change the law.)

    And I already invested a lot. :o

Thats why i want to know. ( See soon i have 3 kids ) and i would sleep much more better if in short or long my investments (in my wifes name or in my babies name) could be a garantie, (i have a farm, land cows, goats, wildpigs ... and so on, this i write only because i mean, i am not short of money if something happens(till now), even with my thai investments (ok i have nothing, my wife has :D ).

I dont want to buy a condo, but somebody of my drunken "friends" told me a farrang can have a condo on his own name, and i saw many farrangs with pictures about condos and houses on the embassy in bangkok, that why i thoughd it may be ....... a solution.

So thank you very much, and if somebody knows something let me know na

    :D

    Frank

  11. Hello

    @ bina

hmmm, dont be angry my time is a bit short (i have to care my animal na) and you ask a looooot of questions (my english is a bit short to and i dont want to sound to stupid to teach about that subject, even if i was a tutor in economics at the university yeah thats life).

I try to answer a bit later if i more relaxed, today i cleaned the area where my goats stay, and the (na now what is the farmer word for goat house, in thai i know it "kok") ok this kok i cleaned with a pressurepump and desinfected it.

This kok is ca. 1 m in the air and has the size about 144 sqm and the bottom is made out of wood, with about 1 to 2 cm distance so the shit falls down.

My goats have a land about 6000 sqm now (i know it isnt much) but i plan to buy a land about 60 to 70.000 sqm if i can get a good one. (After my <deleted>... visa passed)

Till then me or some workers take food from the streets, jungle, or i feed lamb (from the rice mill) or dry man (its a potato similar rootplant), if we have no time they can grass on the land, oh i forget, they enjoy banana leaves and are crazy about the bananas (then it is possible they kill me) but you can imagine how many banana trees you need to find them :o .

No, you cant bring a baby goat with you, they will kill it if you dont fullfill the restrictions for import animals (exspecially goats).

A book may not a bad idea, but i think the thais need it more. Maybe if i have time but i think you think i know to much and i guess my knowledge isnt enough to write a book, maybe it will be in some years.

And bina dont angry but a question to you:

Do you was already in thailand for a longer time ? Your questions about list with phonenumbers and this and that ..... i think people who stay longer already know what i mean. Even where i order pallets from this or that food ..... thailand is a nightmare in this way.

I still try to figure out what kind of food i could plant, with high protein to 20% and vitamins, which is easy to grow and which come again from itself and at least which will grow under our climate conditions.

And if you find that food, you will have to work min. 1 month if not more to find out where you can get the semen.

Mai mi, mai dai , mai lu ( :D )

  12. Thank you,

maybe i want to get rid of some, but i have to know first what mike prefers ?

Do you have a phone number or email ?!

I have a stock about 30 animals now but some are bad nannies :o so they may be doomed :D:D

  13. Hello,

i have a special question about the marriage visa.

I am married have 3 babies and did the marriage visa 2 Years ago.

Every year you need this 400.000 Baht cash on a thai bank account for 1 month.

My problem is that i always after i transfered the money invest it till the time to the next appointment. Than you have to transfer again. Good as long you have the cash and good as long you want or have some ideas to invest.

My question is, if you have a lot of land, house, animals and so on ( i know my wife has it) if you can use this as garantie or the wife can garantie for me?. I dont like to ask in Bkk because i dont want they think i start to get problems or i dont like to invest, the questions could be uncomfortable. So i ask here.

I was in Arranyaprathet and i asked the police department there.

Him asked me, are you married - yes (2 years now)

you have the marrievisa - yes (2 years also)

you have a house min 1 Mio Baht - yes (i told him my house is worth more)

you have a driving license - yes 4 years already

and so on ... everthing him wanted i had.

Later him told me , no cannot.

Somebody know something about that, maybe if i do have do buy a condo in Bkk or so.... ?

    Thank you

    Frank

  14. Hmmm, i though about to plant alfalfa (food for my goats) but i didnt because i read that the bees like it to much. Last year i cut banana leaves for my goats and the bees (big black ones) started to fighting me. I still had the "mit" (machete knife) in may hand and in the panic i cut in my left one (6 stitches).

Bees really scare me off, and here you can be killed only by one of them. So o wont do anything that they come to me.

  15. My opinion is that at first you have to know about the different sorts and the quality of the rice in which you speculate.

Second you need the equipment to store it, i guess the bugs wont be the problem, more the mouses, the rats, the birds maybe the chickens ... and you have to keep it dry. The bigger buissiness would be (for an expirienced eye) to buy the rice still on the field from people which run out of money (but this is risky).

I stay close to a big rice mill, which even sell its brand in germany and they make BIG money in this subject.

But i guess that if you really want to earn you need connections because this kind of poeple (rice mill) wont buy to market prices.

@eddi 20 kg out of 48 seemed a bit to less, but you have to think about the quality of your rice because the mill not only keeps the lamb the keep the broke rice as well and if the mill is technical to old it will produce o a lot of trash.

To everybody whom havent tons of rice , dont buy a mill !!! :o its a horrible machine, you need a small house to keep it in, you pollute your environment with tickling powder, you have to pay for people which work for you AND i guess you wont have to much customers, because they all have relatives with a rice mill.

It was a great government campaign about 7 years ago to give the farmers credit to have a mill and start a new big bussiness. Some still pay the depths.

    Frank

  16. Woooow, a guy from south africa !!!!

They have the best NR. 1 Boer goats in the world and every goatlover sucks fingers after it. If only the shipping cost wouldnt be soooooo expensive.

Maybe you can pack a male goat baby in your bags and bring it to me i will pay you the flight ticket :o

  17. Thanks everybody for the friendly responses :D

    @bina

another name for sudan grass is sorghum-sudan but it isnt latin.

    * About the breeding cycles

In thailand you can breed all around the year and most of my does's kids two time a year (although the rain season isnt the best time for get some because of worms) . Only the quality upsets me so. I really try hard to find Quality bucks but in the end i guess i will have to import some. Like my brother always told me, you cannot make pralines out of sh...

To all the people which thinks that i am crazy pls calm down, i still think about it .

It was really hard and cost me some money to get the knowledge i have, so i wont give up about goats. But like it is here in Thailand (i am sure it differs from israel a lot) the smallest problems become a very big act and the most of your energie is burned down to track with it.

I mean to find quality breeders, to find seed for goatfood, TO GET A VET IF YOU NEED ONE (i ve learned everything for myself, to inject medicine, to take bloodsamples, to cure sicknesses like a cold (exsp. in the rain time), or sore mouth and so on and stay in contact with a lab.

The biggest mistake is to think ohhh goats sound good why i shouldnt buy some for cut my lawn (they will destroy your trees and bushes first ! :D ). Or goats are a symbol for sexual potenzial they kid like hel_l, it must be a good bussiness - and yesss they kid like hel_l min 2 to max 6 kids a year per does - but dont forget about the care the medical supplements and that about 30% of the kids wont make it.

About AI (means make kids with semen injection from a elite buck)

This is very difficult to do here and you need expensive equipment like a nitrogen tank to store the frozen semen (-196 C !!), a insemination gun and so on whom wants to know http://www.goatworld.com/articles/ai/ai.shtml

It a horrible procedure, and you have to know the time your does is honey :D . If something is going wrong you spread 200 to 400 $ in the air.

At least you must like this kind of bussiness and you should love goats because they are very clever, sometimes really nasty animals.

I stay in a thai farmer group (related with my wife) and we had some members who breed cattles or horses and start up with goats, they all gave up but not because its a bad bussiness, it was because they expected the goats behaviour is like the cows one, but it wasnt.

@ bina because of your question about the location, i didnt meant to be rude, i did a mistake because the name of the village you spelled was right :o it was like so often how you speek this. And about the dogs it was true. My friend stays there (not far from me 3km) and him had a dog. During the time him stayed in Pattaya to stock up with farrang food and so on his brother in law (thai) really cared about his dog so much and ate it. My friend 73 years old was really really upset and i worried about him, because you know old people and animals can be a very close relationship. :D

sorry about my english again, but if i want talk i dont care to much about spelling

    bye

    Frankie

  18. Hello i am Frank

i sneeked a bit through the Isaan Forum topics and decided to become a newbie member :D (cuz the people here seemed to be ok).

Finally iam happy with the new AIS service (although i dont like this company to much) that i am able to have cheap internet connection via mobile phone. (A small window from Isaan "to the farrangs")

I found the disussion about goats interesting and my opinion is (if anyone would like to know) thats if you want to start a bussiness with goats you have to have land first, about 20 Rai, next you have to find high protein food (about 18 to 20 %) which has to be able to grow here in our (Isaan) area (for example Sudan grass, something like alfalfa and so on).

Next you have to start with min. 50 does's and 1 or 2 bucks.

I would suggest boer fullblood breedings.

Next you have to do a good job about management to harmonize breedingseason and the available food to serve your animals with a propper weightgaining.

I have information that the goatmarket in Bkk has a demand about 30 animals a day !

So forget the commentars " Do you ever see thai eat goats " The muslims do !

I saw how the muslims care their stocks in (Yes in) BKK. But they are unable to hold a lot of animals.

My warning is, thailand has a big BIG problem with inbreeding, means that many goats diet because the baby died inside of the does. So it is really very difficult to find a quality stock for start this bussiness. (Dont worry i dont want to sell my goats :D )

About the location, it is really true, that if you have min. 20 animals to sell that they come with a lorry and pick them up (slaughter price.)

Greetings and sorry for my bad english (German national)

    Frank

(Oh yes Shing Dam was the name of my Anglo Nubian Goat Buck 2. times Champion of Thailand, but dead already, that time i didnt knew that you have to seperate bucks and doeses from time to time - him ######ed to much and died as a happy billy boy :o:D

  19. Hello

is this a kind of joke ?!

I stay in that area Soeng Sang and Satakien is not far from here.

But what are you looking for ?!

Do you want to start bussiness in Pigs ?! Mu Baan = thai for house pigs)

    Mu Baa for wildpigs )

All i know is that the folks of Satakien likes to eat dogs very much :o serious.

Ok, how i can be of service

    Frankie
