  1. No need. Do all the paperwork and ride on over yourself no escort. Same on return. I was the only bike crossing at the time both ways and came across no resistance.

The one annoying thing I found when buying my CTP insurance is I could not insure my bike for theft or crash so that's definately something you may wish to consider.

  2. Thanks for the replies. If I am unable to cross at Friendship Bridge 1, which would be my next best bet to try?

Yes myNot bikes a 650cc, Kawasaki Versys with offroad rubber on it. I am planning on heading up to Vang Vieng for a couple of days while I wait for my Visa to be processed. How long is the ride from Vientenne to Vang Vieng?

  3. You have already used your 2nd entry and the extension you can get for that entry. December 12th is your last day.

So what i should have done instead of activating my second entry was to have extended my first entry, then when that expired activated my second entry?

I get that your saying I cannot get an extension on my 1st entry now that I am technically on my second entry?

I have a motorcycle, would it be possible for me to ride to the Cambodian border, park the bike and walk across the border to get a new single entry visa on the 12th December?

  4. "I was told that if I go to Laos and prove I have 200'000THB I can get a triple entry visa. Does anyone know the validity of this?"

    • There is no such visa available from Laos.
    • You will only be able to get a single entry tourist visa (SETV) from Laos or any other neighbouring country.
    • The SETV will give you 60 days that can be extended for 30 days at an immigration office.

I assume you are not married, don't have kids, and are not over 50, in which case the only other option would be the 5 year Thailand Elite visa which costs 500,000 baht.

    No Kids

    Not wanting to spend 500'000THB

I was thinking next year I could look at an Educational Visa, as I would be interested in learning Thai.

  5. If you entered on a 2 entry tourist visa in July you would of gotten a 60 day entry that would of ended sometime in September. Then getting a 30 day extension of that entry would of only gotten you to October. It seems you went out and re-entered to use the 2nd entry of your visa that gave you the December 12th date. If my assumption is correct you can get another 30 day extension of your current entry.

At the moment the only tourist visa you get within the region is a single entry one.

You are 100% sorrect, I went to Singapore for 1 week and activated my second entry. So I went to BKK Immigration last week and got a 30 day extension, so what you are saying is that 30 day extesion is on my first entry, and I can go to the embassy again close to the 12th Dec and get another extension which will be on my second entry?

Then around 12th January travel to Cambodia and get a new Single Entry visa for 60 days, then extend it 30 days giving me until April 12th?

  6. Ok quick run down of my situation, I left Australia in July 2015 on a double entry tourist visa, when that expired I went to Thai Embassy and got 30 day extension. This is due to expire on 12th December. I obviously wish to stay and do not wish to go with the expense of flying back to Australia to get the new METV.

I was told that if I go to Laos and prove I have 200'000THB I can get a triple entry visa. Does anyone know the validity of this?
