  1. Thanks a lot. It seems that metv is the best way for me going forward. .
  2. Hi Is it possible yet to get a METV (multi entry tourist visa) and of so can it be done online to the London embassy rather than in person, now that some of the consulate in the U.K. have been closed? I normally stay in Thailand for around five months each year on a non o. However it’s total pain to get the two month extension plus I need re entry permits if I’m travelling which sometimes I have to. The METV would be far easier as it’s valid for six months I believe, with the option to extend for a few months Also, I wondered if it’s a problem to get one of these each year for my 5 or 6 months there, or would I get a load of scrutiny so “why are you non using non o route” etc. thanks for any help.
  3. Thank you. I think it was one of them, but I'll take both for the future when i apply next time.
  4. Hi I recently received at 60 day extension at Chiang mai immigration. As well as the usual photocopies and the TM7 form, they gave me an additional form to fill in, and sent me to the back of the queue again for my sins. Form was Thai with English translation in same style as TM7 and I forgot to take a note of what it was. In order to avoid getting sent to the back of the queue the next time I apply for an extension, I wondered if anyone knows what form this was. Thanks a lot.
  5. I'm now a bit confused from the post above and I want to make sure I'm doing the right thing. I definitely don't have a multi entry visa. I just have a Non immigrant o 1 page sticker in my passport that is valid for 90 days from the date it's stamped, with an expiry stamp of 9 March? And I'm applying for an extension of sixty days and I'll do it a week in advance of the expiry and it will still be taken from the date of the expiry, bring the 9 March? I don't think they need any proof of earnings for this 60 day extension? And do you know if they accept black and white photocopies? Thanks again for your help.
  6. Thank you. So if I go in to immigration on, say, the 1st March, they will still take the date of the extension from when my permit was due to expire, being the 9th March, so 60 days from that day rather than from 1st March or whichever day I go in to the office?
  7. Hi I’m currently on a 90 day non o visa based on my being father of a Thai. I’m not married to her mum yet. The visa is due to expire on 9 March. If I apply for the 60 day extension, will it run from 9 March or from the day I apply, say 7 March? And you count the day of the application, so you would only actually add on 59 days to get your exit date? I don’t believe I need to prove income for this extension as it’s not for a year? And these are the documents…? (Chiangmai immigration) Passport (original). Photocopy of passport. Photocopy of visa and arrival card Child's Thai passport. Child's birth certificate. Wife's ID card. Household registration certificate- presume this is the Tabien Baan (copy or original ?) where daughter and mother are officially registered. Letter confirming I live in the property for tabien baan from mother Application form Photos of myself Take originals of everything and bring photocopies, sign all photocopies and photos thanks a lot for any help
  8. Thank you. Do you know if mother should come as well, or good just to take my daughter? Thanks again.
  9. Hi I want to extend my 90 day non o visa for a further 60 days at Chiang Mai immigration. I'm not married but I have a child with Thai. I've extended before but I don't remember having to have the mother and the child present at immigration along with all the usual documents, when I last got the extension pre covid. It's mentioned as a requirement in one of the more popular Thai visa advice blog websites. Due to the distance we would have to travel, and that my daughter might have to take a day from school, I just wondered if anyone knows this is really a requirement? Grateful for any advice. Thanks
  10. Thank you. I'm pretty sure it would be easy to slip through without paying but it's not my style, especially for 12pc. The biggest barrier is finding out how to actually pay it....I will need to find a local small scale accountant.
  11. Thanks. I don't have a problem with any of that, and I wouldn't be bothering with short term. What I like about Airbnb is that it takes care of the cash transactions and the marketing, which works just fine for long stays as well as short.
  12. Hi. Thank you. Yes I see the same thing where I am in my place, sparse of people. I wouldn't be able to manage the short stay rentals anyway, and I'd probably just give the condo managers a % to manage the coming and goingn for people wanting 1 to 3 months for example. It would just be a way of getting a small return on my cash outlay.... Nothing special.
  13. Thanks for the heads up. Yes... Monthly rentals it would have to be. I just wouldn't know where to start with paying any tax that is due....
  14. Renting suited me. I did it for years and years...still do in fact. Now renting in some places doesn't suit me. But I'm sure renting still suits some. For some people buying a condo and never renting suits them. For some condo owners renting suits them. "Without going into details" . Hoping someone here got something constructive. .... Anyone?
  15. Hi. I'm back and forward to Phuket and the hassle of rentals can get tiring. I'm looking at buying a small condo and for the periods that I'm not there using Airbnb (or maybe booking Dot com) for short term. I have some properties in the UK which I also do Airbnb short lets and I'm wondering ... - is it allowed by the authorities here...I don't have a work permit but it would be my sole residence in Thailand. I have a non o visa. - if it is, do I pay tax using my UK based Airbnb account or use a new Airbnb account and pay the Thai authorities. - if renting is allowed, but Airbnb style is not allowed... That would be another question? Thanks for any help
