  1. Cheers for the quick replies guys. So if he turns up at Samui Immigration on Monday the 9th will he get an overstay stamp ? Or does he have to get an extension before Monday. He is in a bit of a panic even though I have told him even a one day overstay is the most he will get and it isn't such a big deal. Cheers again Dunc

  2. Hi, A friend realised last night that he needs to extend his visa on the 8th of May which is a Sunday. Samui Immigration is now closed till Monday the 9th. Can he pop over to Ranong and get his extension at the Immigration there ? Or will he have to go out and just get 14 days.? He doesn't really want any overstay even for a day. Cheers People Dunc

  3. A dongle is possible but is relatively slow.

    Not neccessarily so :D

I have just upgraded to the CAT CDMA dongle and it is very quick. I can average nearly 2MBS most places. Even with the mobile EDGE system as long as you don't need to down load large files then it is fine. It is also a pay as you go system which would be better if you are only here occasionally. Most places that have Wi-Fi tend to have cheap routers that tend to limit the transmission to 54kbs though I have been in a couple that have 1MB.

If you need to down load a big file just go to a high speed internet shop with your laptop and plug the ethernet cable directly into your computer. :D

  4. Trying to import them to Thailand under your Thai wife's name won't make a blind bit of difference. Your valuation is also of no bearing on what the customs decide they want to charge you. Do a search for importing cars and then decide. The general concensus is it just isn't worth the time and effort and at the end you still may not get your car here.

An option is to import it to Singapore or Malaysia where it is a little easier to do then drive them to Thailand. You then need to visa run the car every 6 months but to the guys I know who have done this they love this part of it :D

  5. dam_n !! I was scammed :o

Looking at the above list It states marmalade or jam  I got the toast but no jam

    Only joking :D

I never eat it anyway. To your average Farang the standard breakfast at 160 baht would be fine. As I'm a hungry faced Farang the Mega was the one for me. 290 baht for what you get for me is fair value for a quality breakfast. I have tried lots at that price or even more expensive and none come near.

  6. As this pantomime unfolds I feel sorry to the Americans out there who like me are shaking their heads in disbelief.

So we have no body and we will now not be shown any photographic evidence either. We just have to take Obamas word for everything.

The excuse that they don't want to release any photos in case of any retaliations is beyond belief.

They have just shot their unarmed leader in the head of fed his body to the fish and they are worried a picture may p@ss some Muslims off <deleted>!!!!

It just gets worse by the day.

    The whole episode stinks !

  7. When news broke of his death the internet was ablaze with postings that they would never produce his body. I dismissed these as your usual crazies but then the next thing we hear is they have buried his body at sea. How very, very convenient.

We are told they did this to uphold the Muslim tradition about burying their dead within 24 hours. They also did not want to offend the Muslims <deleted>!!!!!

This is the worlds most wanted terrorist who is responsible for the deaths of thousands of innocent men, women and children.A man who promoted the beheading of innocent prisoners and posting the videos on the internet and here we have the USA treating the guy with the respect of a head of state. :o

The whole thing stinks ! :sorry:

  8. Just be sure to point out any damage to the bike before you take it out. take a pic with a camera with the time stamp on it if you see damage and want to make sure you don't have to pay.

Very good advice SBK especially for Tao. I advised her to go here as they are very honest and the Burmese guy that takes care of the bikes is a diamond.

Sioux I am sure that if they do not have any he will be able to arrange one for you. If you would prefer to book one for piece of mind PM me with the dates and I will book it the next time I am over there :D

  9. That shop even charged my (Thai) girlfriend 100 baht to download Skype onto her laptop for her whilst I was away in the UK. I was furious. Bunch of croooks IMO.

I'm sorry but if your GF is incapable of down loading and installing Skype and they do it for her for 100 baht then just where is the problem ?

You expect them to do this for nothing ? :o They are a business not a charity nless you hadn't noticed

  10. They aren't getting paid are they? It's not work- they are sharing their beliefs.

Sure, but you don`t always need to be earning money in order to need a work permit.

There seems a double standard somewhat here because in Chiang Mai 5 farang musicians have been arrested just for jamming in the North Gate. I would rather hear them any day than have this bunch preach to me B)

NO they were a BAND playing in a bar and getting paid for it. not just " Innocent musicians arrested for playing for fun "

And I'm all for these guys getting arrested and thrown into jail as well so there is no double standards !

  11. Just heard they have buried the body at sea. How very convenient for all concerned. I treated with disdain the comments saying that we would never see the body and it would never be produced. They have proved unfortunately to be correct.

This fact makes the whole thing stink to high heaven.

I for one now do not believe a word we are being fed.

The excuse as to why they did this also holds no water !

    Absolute <snip!> bullshit ! :sorry:

  12. I'm sorry but this type of posting cannot be allowed to flourish.

Before you know it we will be having posts about honest taxi drivers putting the meter on without asking and jet ski guys helping out people on the beaches of Pattaya and Phuket. ;)

  13. I can't comment on the Chawang shop but their shop in Lamai Tesco mall has been fine with everything I have got from there. The manager speaks good English and the one problem / niggle I had was sorted without any fuss. I think the trouble they have is getting sales staff that actually know what they are talking about where computer and components are concerned.
