  1. Guess it's like anywhere else in the world then. people are different. never had any problems with all of this and i do not really bother to take care of these things at all, so am pretty sure it has happened a lot already. i asked my wife and family and all said the same thing mai pen arai.

Did you get married before 2002?

After that year they could not force her to change her name.

No married in 2011..But yeah i've always doubted her understanding of this situation myself, but did not find it nescessary to figure out.  I do know the lady there pushed her to change name, but what exactly has been said??    Kinda liked her having my name so i see no problem. They said it was something like transparancy in dealings in Thailand with the Farang husbands money....

Try stamping on a bht note in front of Thais, and then come back and tell us that it is only the 'stuck up' Thais that care about these things.

Yes indeed the king is a different thing. But thought it was about soles of feet and the common people.  Pat my whole families kids on the head too. mai pen arai.

  4. Plain and simple, that's child abduction.  i Know my wife could never cross a border, leaving Europe,  with our child .She needs to show a letter of permission from me, or won't be able to board a plane. That is Holland and i suppose main land Europe. Don't know the rules elsewhre, but can imagine they have somthing similar there.

A visit to the police station will be sufficient to mark her name . She will get a visit from child protection service and police soon after.

And leaving will be concidered a crime. Thailand has good understandings with the Duth government in these matters. That is what i have seen in past experiences in my surroundings. Hope your country has the same

    Good luck to you.

What Thailand does for government really is of little interest to me, regard it as something for the Thais to sort out. The only thing that interests me is the status of foreigners in the country, as long as there are no major dramas there, business being business, then not really interested.

Lets face it, elected governments can make just as much mischief as a military one if they so choose. My elected home government seems to make life more burdensome than the military Thai one. Suspect the military will stay till they resolve what is probably really concerning them.

NOt sure about your bussiness, but overal we have seen a big dent in bussiness due to the current politics. Slow slow slow. That is if you NOT read the papers. If you do all is fine in Thailand.

  6. Normal  Thai don't care a bout your soles...

Only the stuck up ones do......Just like in any country in regard to  very very very old rules of etiquette......Nobody in their right mind is bothered by them.

But hey in Europe you would be concidered a peasant too if you place your bare feet on the chair in a resaturant, so that's not a typical thai trade i guess.

  7. The Dutch system seems to be working real fine.

We give free dope to the hardcore addicted .....Yep free heroin ........And of course legal ( ah well semi) softdrugs .

The crime rates as well as the rates of harddrugs addictions have dropped significantly after they gave the sheit away for free. Unrest in the streets form addicts hanging around steeling and causing problems has also dropped in huge numbers.

And decriminalizing soft drugs has made the gap between soft and hard so wide it is not a natural connection anymore, like it is in many countries were drugs are still one of the biggest problems with their population.

But hey that will go right against what they believe has to be done......So good luck to you all people of Thailand.

Ah well as long as it is your doctor selling you the poison , don;t expect him to deliver you the cure too.............

  8. As soon as you set up a Thai Bank savings account if you don't already have one wire as much money as you can for the future into Thailand.

Many Thai banks now require a work visa to open an account, but not all.

Kasikorn Bank Mgr. in Nana told me if I close any account I can't reopen another without a work visa even with my retirement visa extension. I've been a customer for 9 years.

I would also move to Thailand ASAP.

I really don't understand why anyone in their right mind would want to wire as much money as they can into Thailand. I wire yearly living expenses, and keep the 800,000 baht on deposit to satisfy the financial requirements of a retirement visa/extension.

The majority ( 85% ) of my funds are in Australia. The stability of Thai politics and policies towards falangs is questionable. Personally, I think one should never bring more money into Thailand than one is prepared to lose.

Can't say for someone personally if Thailand is the right option, but surely understand why people feel the urge to get their money out of Europe..

  9. Having moved to Thailand just under a year ago in circumstances very similar to your own the biggest problem I had was getting the documentation needed for a marriage visa.

Things like your marriage certificate are not recognized here in Thailand. You need to look up the procedure for getting them stamped as "official" by the Swedish authorities before you get them translated and stamped over here. You may also wish to do the same with other documents which you might need at some point (birth certificates for yourself and any children for example).

You may also wish to make sure you have plenty of empty pages on your passport. The application for a marriage visa can be a long drawn out process meaning you may have to do several border runs before one gets issued. These fill your passport at an alarming rate.

    Good luck.

Getting married legally in Thailand is a lot easier. Just get it registered at the Amphur and it;s official. You don't need to married in your homecountry too.

    In a word NO.

I have been here for Eight years.

    One marriage and four relationships.

    ALL have ended up bad.

Thai women only want money not LOVE.

Or maybe i have just been unlucky.

A friend of mine who has lived here for 15 years and married to a Thai.

Always tells me you know when a Thai is lying when their lips MOVE.

Another friend says THEY can but we CAN NOT.

I am going back to my own country soon.

Had enough of the SHIT you have to put up with here.

And it is a lot worse than Eight years ago.

AGREED, no chance of true love.

30 million opportunities, everyone is the same.

    (Insert irony alert)

Cmon, is it them? Had only 1 and stay together over 9 years and still going strong. Met her when she was young, so that is not a problem too.

Did see many many bad Farang husbands though, at least as many or more.

  11. This is not a typical Thai problem i guess, but a typical kinda guy problem. Why would you find true love especially in Thailand....

I feel that's where it goes wrong already.

True love will be found anywhere or nowhere. But going somewhere to find true love does not work,

Been in Thailand, before meeting my wife, but like said like some other posters. Did NOT go there to f.u.c.k. or find a woman. Lived my daily routine and just met her...Like it goes anywhere in the world.

And to answer your question..YES you absolutely can find true love in Thailand..like anywhere.

Up to you more than her i bet.

I do know when you find a Thai woman that is genuine and true to you. oh boy

This is the best woman, care and love i can imagine having. A loyal, loving, caring partner, trying to always be a good wife to her husband.

Understanding a man's point of view and not looking at the worst , but the best sides of you, forgivness for my mistakes and a big big hearth make her the kind of woman i have never met back home.

Trust me i have no problem findng a woman back home, but if this marriage would somehow fail, would preferably ,never ever go back to a Dutch woman ( unless hahaha you've got me there, i find true love again there).

But i does not seem likely anymore, having seen another way here in Thailand. Without any disrespect to the woman, and not making this setting myself, but, It's a man's world here, so act like it and you will see.......

    Gl to you
