Not really, i don't have any vaccines, for covid that is, but can still travel when i want to. Don't let any country force you to take any medicine you don't want.

Interesting topic, i come from the Netherlands myself and for sure it's a lot cheaper here but i do miss some 1st world things.
One remark though : Thailand's housing market is totally incomparable to anything in the EU/UK. Here you can rent a cheap furnished condo with a choice from hundreds if not thousands that are available. Finding anything for rent in The Netherlands, let alone furnished for a reasonable price, is bordering on the impossible.
better to compare living costs with a paid for condo/house to make it more fair.

Meanwhile in the real world, 60+ people per day die on motorbikes. Maybe the government should focus on reducing those deaths instead of looking at the next hype from the insanity bureau of the WHO.

I love the thai logic that i hear around me "he brings the monkeypox to thailand", well no actually he was here already long before so "Thailand bring the monkeypox to him" but that would be thinking too much.
Doesn't change that he is an ass, probably did something in the ass and should be out of here of course.

Ok Covid : numbers tell everything if you should be scared or not
We have roughly 8 billion people on the planet, with an average lifespan of 75 makes for a total of 106 Million deaths per year or almost 300.000 per day. However in the last two years with covid, the world population has grown with about 120 million (!)
Also in a country like Thailand the total number of deaths each day due to a much larger virus called "Motorbikes" is higher than the death toll of people dying with covid. I say "with" instead of "from" because that is how we count apparently.
The damage to the economy, the lost years in life from people who didn't get other medical treatment in time, the suicides, the reduced lifespan of people in major financial troubles is all not because of covid but because of our politicians taking the wrong decisions. You could argue that the damage done due to our policies could be higher than the damage done due to the virus.
Is covid fun ? No, is covid a threat to humanity, No not at all.

So tired with this country, in Europe we let in just about anyone with sneakers a phone and a problematic religion, they will never be productive, never add anything to society, only use tax money and in return cause problems.
But here the expats come and bring money, want to settle here and spend their entire pensions and savings, all we want is a house on our name. So let's do that for exactly no one, because who wants to wait 3 years and invest 40 million to eventually be able to buy a house of 6-20 million. O dear, time for ummmm Spain.
Edit : by the way, i live here and have a house on a Thai company, yes it's possible but i want the same rights here as Thai's have with "us" in the west.

There is a giant problem with covid that is overlooked already for 2 years, and it's so obvious !
Besides the mouth and nose, there is another spot on the body that expels air and possibly little particles of moist that could lead to infections.
Some people cover this with jeans, or skimpy clothing in warmer countries such as Thailand, but as we all know jeans don't stop the virus.
It's time for specially constructed underwear with a build in medical grade mask system for the final opening, only then are we safe !

After living in Thailand for a few years i can sum up the pro's and cons easily :
- rubbish, dogs, unsafe everything, traffic deaths, double pricing, corruption, silly visa rules, hot, rice with stuff is not a world class kitchen
+ Good affordable houses, cheap gasoline (i come from Europe), nice people, no income tax in my situation.
For Mr. Anutin : Higher prices for mediocre stuff has never ever worked, if you want tourists Thailand has only 2 cards : Lower prices and girls. Without those no one would come.
If one of the plus item's is no longer true, i'll be out of here.

Per month of course, don't forget you come from the USA where the wages are a lot higher than anywhere else. But in many European countries the health is already taken care of and rents are a lot lower than in major cities in the US.
The state pension i was talking about in the Netherlands is nett per month.
Ask around with other expats and you'll see that an 80k pension per year is a very rare exception. Most i know live on 20/30k per year.

I don't know where you are from, but in Europe this would be a fantastic pension. We don't have to pay crazy amounts for health care so that could be part of it, but 6,666 USD or it's current local equivalent is a lot of money for a pension. The government pension in one of the richest countries on this little spinning bal, the Netherlands, is 1261 Euro, at the moment that's 1.324 USD. But... we live in crazy times with the exchange rate, a more normal rate would make that 1513 USD
No where near even in the vicinity of 6,666 per month, again don't know where you coming from but not from reality apparently

Come to Thailand, wear a mask outside and on your motorbike but no helmet of course. Then book a hotel, you pay double from the locals, maybe check a national park where they put the price in Thai numbers so you can't read it, but you have a phone and use translate, eat rice with low quality stuff everywhere you go, sit on dirty beaches, breath the burning rubbish, get some fleas from soi dogs and then go back to Europe and tell all about your great experience here.
Can't you see what they are doing ? I can't.

About the massages that i see mentioned a few times :
I live in the outskirts Pattaya for years with a girl that i met in a regular massage shop ; The usual division of what you pay is 40 to 50% for the girl, the rest for the shop. So not much for a foot massage in soybeancow, but not that bad for a 300 baht oil massage outside of that street. If you give a tip, they can keep that 100%.
Now... some shops have so many girls that you are lucky when you get 2 to 3 customers per day, minus the expenses for food and drinks from the 17 traveling stalls per hour that stop in front of the shops. If you are attractive you'll get more customers and tips. Some shops before the covid, gave a 200 baht guaranteed pay per day, so even if you didn't get a customer you had 200 baht. They work 6 days per week with about a 12 hour day....
Also super weird : the girls have to pay their own uniform and a 2000/3000 baht deposit that they will get back when they want to quit with notice. If they just stop showing up then you lose the deposit. Thai working conditions are among the worst.
This is talking about regular massages, extra shops are a whole different game of course.

Death is not the only negative outcome from Covid.
It's all conditional in the EU, with yearly follow up's no full athorisation here info from the EMA : LINK (this is for pfizer, there are similar ones for the others)
Similar "emergency use only" authorisations have been given by the american counterpart the FDA.
The final full authorisation can only be given somewhere in 2023.
Sadly protection is not the only outcome from the vaccine(s), no medical procedures or medicines are without side effects or dangers. Per person one has to make an informed decision and not be "pushed" or even forced indirectly by public opinion, governments or media. Yes the vaccines work, yes there is covid, but no the vaccines don't stop you from getting or spreading covid and they do lose their effectiveness slowly over time till you need a booster. It's not a wonder of modern medicine like it was sold to us "2 jabs and you are immune" sadly.
C19 is a seasonal virus, there has never been a succesfull 1/2 jab vaccine for a virus like this, it's endemic and if you are in the risk groups you could be having a seasonal vaccin probably once per year. If you are not in a risk group, then you don't neccesarily need the vaccine. Since it doesn't stop you from spreading the virus, you don't have to take it "for other people".
Again before someone reads me wrong : The virus is there, for some people it IS dangerous, for others not so much. The vaccine works but has limitations and it doesn't stop you from giving the virus to someone else. I fully support elderly and frail getting the vaccine. I fully not support giving it to teenagers or even young children that have a -much- smaller risk of covid than getting a serious complication from the vaccine like myorcarditis.

Not wishing to be disputatious, but the vaccines are not for "experimental" use, and no authority has ever claimed they are. And you need to familiarise yourself with what "emergency" use actually means regarding vaccines.

That's why i always try to do everything online, no need for copies of everything, no need for a trip to the office, no standing in line, no stress. However if it doesn't work then what can you do.
I try to get everything done online and only visit immigration for the yearly retirement extension.

Meanwhile one step further : When switching off the automatic translation from chrome, there is no "error on line 1" anymore and i get a nice spinning circle for "saving" after which i get a new error "Error occured" 555. I download the Section38 as @bikestorm suggested and checked there. When you open the app you get a message in Thai that the server isn't available...
Of course ! Make an App and make sure it doesn't work, TIT afterall. But at least there is a reason now, "line 1 error" was due to chrome translate, and the "error occured" on the website is because the server is switched off.
Thailand, it is really time that you don't let someone's nephew program an app and get a trained programmer to do it....

Before moving to Thailand, i lived in Germany for 15 years. Bottles of wine there are good and plentiful and mostly around 100-120 baht..... Beer is almost cheaper than water at about 10-12 baht per bottle at the Lidl.
My conclusion :
Without the women of Thailand no one would be here but some random backpackers that don't like to drink.
