What happened to you, Thailand?
I wasn't actually in the slum area of Khlongtoey, but it was still pretty unappealing actually and there were a number of roughnecks around. I was attacked once by some drunk local neighbors. I was really lucky I didn't get badly hurt. But I was also attacked once in a really good neighborhood in Bangkok by a guy who wanted my phone. So it can happen anywhere. That attack was worse. I was injured, but again I got pretty lucky.

What happened to you, Thailand?
Over 30 years ago I lived in a small, crappy little building at the end of a winding Soi in Khlongtoey close to the big filthy market. I wasn't living there for more than 2 weeks before meeting a bunch of Scandinavians also living in the building.

Hard to imagine that is possible unless you live at the end of a dead end Soi and never leave the area around the house.

I'm not sure it requires such a deep understanding. You probably understand more than you think. Possibly just over thinking it a bit. Most of what they do is to protect personal interests or elevate themselves in their Thai social standing. It's the driving force for most things, including religious practices, gift giving, etc. Sadly it's mainly driven by superficial and financial aspirations.

Want to improve mutual understanding in my relationship
Heartlessness earns respect? Really? In Thailand?

Ouch, so heartless.

Do you fear getting an STD/STI in Thailand?
Presumably if there was a throat infection of either of those there would be some noticeable symptoms, possibly more though for Gonorrhea than Chlamydia.

Yes, most hospitals are running that 5,000 Baht special right now. I've gotten both doses already. I got a nasty cold (not covid and no fever) that lasted 2 weeks and started two days after the first dose. Probably just coincidence and unrelated. Second dose had zero side effects. Dengue growing problem worldwide. https://youtu.be/c1kHAx67PJM Between January and May this year, nearly 30,000 cases of dengue fever were reported in Thailand. Twenty-nine people have died from the disease, but the number is expected to rise up to 280 by the end of the year, according to the DDC.

More women seem to be more willing to engage in oral sex too as they perceive it as being more cleanly.

Great. Still not part of Thai cuisine.

Do you fear getting an STD/STI in Thailand?
Many men get it done as adults simply for the increased level of hygiene and the reduced risk of HIV rather than aesthetics.

Although vaginal intercourse in general is higher risk for HIV infection, cunnilingus is riskier for getting Herpes, HPV, Syphilis, Gonorrhea, and Chlamydia. Whenever one gets tested for HIV it's always good to get screened for Syphilis too since that one often shows no symptoms and can cause serious damage to brain, liver, kidneys and various other things when left untreated.

Agreed, makes sense. 👍🏼 BTW, Boots has a house brand of lube in a pump bottle. 130 Baht for 100ml. Much better than KY. After using 1/3 the bottle I usually refill it with water. It works much better mixed with a bit water I've found.

But it's in vaginal fluids too I believe.

Farangs and Ladyboys
The ones I used to see were more than wisdom sharers. They used to live in small local style apartments, eat mainly street food, try and speak only Thai, dress in locally made clothing, try to avoid any venues where other foreigners might go, etc. Then they would act as if other foreigners were trying to steal their newfound sanctuary by coming here. Wore Buddhist amulets. They also believed locals were smarter and superior in every way. It was a strange phenomenon. Almost fundamentalist. I think people who become disenfranchised with their own culture and societies are prime candidates for "going native syndrone".

Thanks. I just skimmed those infographics, but I didn't see anything about cunnilingus?

Oh boy, haven't run into one of these nutters in Thailand in well over 30 years. I thought the deluded foreigner thinking he's "gone native" was now a thing of the past.

Good general advice. 👍🏼 The Thai Red Cross anonymous HIV testing clinic in Bangkok can provide a double test now. One is a test that provides results within a hour and can determine infection from exposures that occurred within the last 2 to 4 weeks. The other testing method they're using now apparently can detect an HIV infection that occurred within just 7 days after exposure. When you refer to the risks of getting HIV from oral sex being nearly zero, are you referring to a woman giving oral sex to a man, a man giving oral sex to a woman, or both?
