Hi to all. Anybody out there that have tried 'translation ear buds' would like to know if they are effective with Thai language. Many on the market, time kettle seems to be popular but with a price tag. Cheers.

Tech savvy they are, however, when it comes to the environment and local government decades behind, and lets not even go there with the BIB and road laws. -
Chaos on Pattaya Beach: Drunk tourists fuel brawls in hotspot
DUNROAMIN replied to snoop1130's topic in Pattaya News
Yes the BIBs are overstretched doing the daily rounds of wheel clamping for tea money. Unless there is a photo shoot involved police nowhere to be found. -
I had my first and last experience with 3 hr bus trip to Ubon Ratchathani to catch a flight. Half way through the trip at a stop the buses front door jammed and would not open again, only middle door would open, very skinny opening down some steps at right angles. Hate to think how a full bus of people would get out in an emergency. Now looking back the bus would not be roadworthy in a western country.

I've had enough of the Tourist Ghettos in Thailand!
DUNROAMIN replied to BarBoy's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
How long will it take before Thailand realizes that they will become the same as Europe and England and overrun with undersirable immigrants and will start to loose their identity and culture, look at London now, almost a Islamic state. Unfortumnately Thailand can only see $ now, later will regret it, when its too late. -

Dual Pricing in Thai Tourism: Economic Necessity or Hidden Bias?
DUNROAMIN replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Tourist prices at Thai venues are the same for all imported western products, taxed to the max targetting Expats. If the government started to tax Thais the same all hell would break out. Thailand has always been the same, try and make tax as low as possible for its citizens and tax all foriegners to cover the shortfall. -

HI TO ALL. Recently rented a car from ASAP rentals. Normal procedure at front desk, gave the car a once over and checked the fuel gauge, all ok. After leaving the airport and driving a few Klms I noticed a very small stone chip in the front windscreen. At that stage was not to concerned, however, on the return however, things took a change. We dropped the car back with full fuel tank and no damage. The ASAP member inspected the car and gave the green light, he did not mark the sheet with any damage and circled the fuel tab as full and then I asked him to sign the document, which he did, only after I prompted him. He did not offer a copy at that stage. The plot thickens, after about 15 mins my wife gets a phone call from ASAP rentals asking if we had insurance for the hire car as there was damage to the front windscreen. Luckily we had not check in for our flight, and headed back to the rental desk. The young girl get asking for insurance to cover the damage, I told her the we do have insurancs, however would not be paying as the paper had been signed off by the staff as all good. I asked for a copy of the return sheet and then showed her the car was cleared of any defects. She was not impressed that I challenged her. I told her I was happy to call my lawyer to talk to her, she declined and said ok you can go. The excess money was retured to my card 2 days later. This was a borderline scam, as the guy checking the car was hoping that I would just accept his word that all was good walk away, then when it was too late in the day and we had flown out, they would find damage somewhere and try to scam you out of money. I think the guy was trying to cover up his mistake. 1. Check every square inch of the car. 2.Take pictures of the car defects before driving off. 3. Make sure the return slip is signed off and you get a hard or digital copy. Good luck.

Thai Tax Returns for Foreigners
DUNROAMIN replied to Nickcage49's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
I think I'll start worrying about this TAX thing around 2030, should be about the time the Thai government will have everything in place to start taxing us.😉
