It isn’t a visa but an extension of stay and while I don’t use that method, for proof of income from a Thai source you are required to provide your tax documents showing that you are paying taxes on the income in addition to payslips.

After January you are extremely likely to have to do the same for non Thai income as well since all income is due to be taxed from then

yes I know about the tax requirements, im sure there are more documents required though from employer

I you can get a termination letter from your old employer that confirms that your employment was terminated on or after the date when you last left Thailand with a permission to stay based on that employment, everything is easy. Just that letter is basically enough to sort out the situation. If, for some reason, it is not possible to get such a termination letter, you will probably need professional advice on how to proceed.

    great thanks for your help

A: Get the old Non-B visa (extension) cancelled and return your old work permit.

B: Get a new Non-B visa for the new company and apply for a new work permit.

Best case A happens when you stop with the old job. And then all is ready to resume with B when you want a new job.

But it seems that if A was not done already then you (an agent, accountant, etc.) has to do it before you start your new job.

Important, because it is not logical: Let's say your business visa (for the old job) ends in March. You leave the country after that and apply for a new visa maybe in August.

The old business visa still has to be cancelled, even if it expired already.

I am no expert, but that is my recent experience.

Yhe my old visa was Non-M or media, but would imagine its the same.

If she has a Thai id card, and you are applying for a Thai visa for yourself, there is no necessity for your wife to have a passport (though getting her one is cheap, fast and easy). If you want your Thai wife to join you in Savannakhet for two or three days without a passport that is possible. She will need to get a border pass.

She’s not with me, I was just asking as people had mentioned signed copy needed

A few years ago I didn't find any public transportation options from the town to the airport. I believe Nok Air has a fly and ride service that just puts its passengers on a private van to a hotel so find out what time the van departs (check the Nok Air website) and see if it fits your times. If not, doubt there's a public transportation option. That airport is very much for locals with their own ride.

got of plane from BKK and there is a desk as you come out minibus that drops off at the Thai immigration at the bridge for 400 baht

I can recall a member a couple of years ago used a taxi to get to the airport from the border. He made it just in time to catch his flight.

Maybe that is an idea if you’re pressed for time.

hopefully shouldnt be, I get there Sunday so can take my time a little to get there, return flight is 8 pm so should be enough time I think

It's also morning drop off and pm pick up next day at Saigon.

Point of difference is that Saigon requires appointment and Savannakhet does not.

Cheap return flights to Saigon and very convenient for folk handy to Bangkok.

As for turning the visa run into short holiday Saigon hands down winner.

Yhe  that is main reason I chose saigon over Savannakhet, easy to fly to and fancy giving it a visit, thanks for the help everyone
