  1. i just tried to link Wise to Fidelity but its says not supported, not sure whey, i'll call fidelity
  2. like i said, my wife is Thai and i'm older than her so she will likely outlive me, and we need to plan for her access to the money even if i'm not around. as far as small transfers not raising a red flag, i think that's just common sense, banks don't worry about 10,000 baht here or there but much more likely to notice a few million
  3. thanks, i like your option 1 above assuming "Wise is regulated and discreet; doesn’t trigger red flags unless volumes spike." is 100% accurate possibly having several thai bank accounts linked to Wise so the amount to each account would be around 20,000 baht/month would be pretty safe
  4. my wife (Thai) and I live in the US now but we're planning for the future of living in Thailand full time. we have most of our money in the US (Fidelity and a local bank). when we move back to Thailand full time we would need a way to get money from our US accounts. i don't want to do large bank transfers to a Thai bank because they could be taxed in Thailand. I'd prefer to use an ATM and withdraw a few hundred $s a week as needed, which is fine with my Fidelity debit card since they reimburse ATM fees. The problem is, debit and credit cards expire after 5 years and Fidelity will only ship a new card to a US address, and like any new card, it needs to be activated from a US phone. there is no one in the US i would trust to do this for me, and flying back to the US just to pick up a card isn't ideal. I known Wise offer debit cards too, but they currently do not ship new debit cards to Thailand and neither does Venmo. i guess i could do wise transfer to my Thai bank in small amounts every month but worry that might get noticed. Can anyone think a or way to get money to Thailand from the US that will not attract attention and will work forever without having to physically go to the US to replace an expired ATM card? thanks
  5. ok, i don't think Ko Phangan gives out 60 day extensions but last time i went to surat thani office and did it so i guess i'll do that
  6. i had a none-O extended for 60 days last year, maybe i can get a visa free extended for 60 days too. my second trip is actually 3 months and 2 weeks so i would need the 60 day extension, but its worth a shot, thanks
  7. i looked it up, a non-O in NZ is NZ$800 which is insane! and its only for NZ residents, not tourists i think i haven't applied for anything yet and probably will not. i think i'll just go visa free on both entries then after 60 days on the 2nd trip, i'll go to singapore or someplace for a few days then come back on a 3rd visa free. will that work? my wife will travel me me on all trips
  8. i'm married to a Thai, currently in US, i'm coming to Thailand in Nov for a day then flying to New Zealand for 3 weeks then back to Thailand for 3 months. if i get a non-O now, will i be forced to use it up on my first entry to Thailand or can i say i want to save it until i come back in 3 weeks? thanks
  9. how? exactly how does someone send money to my BKB account? i'm not seeing any place on the wise website to send money to a bank account. thanks actually i think i see it, just add new recipient and under send and put in bank details, not a wise account
  10. i just opened a wise account to receive money from overseas and when i went to link my bangkok bank account is said only US, UK and Canada banks supported. i know someone who uses wise here assures me they are able to transfer money direct to a thai bank and the wise website even says that https://wise.com/gb/blog/sending-money-to-thailand but conveniently doesn't say how does anyone have an idea? thanks
  11. i've been looking at some youtubes on that and it looks nice.here you can see this guy cruising along at 73kph
  12. I want to go electric for my next bike. I only need about 30km range for local trips to town. Honda and Yamaha seem totally disinterested in electric bikes. There's a shop near me in surat thani that has Chinese a one thai brand that looks okay. Does anyone have an experience with electric scooters in Thailand?
  13. i need to go surat, can i do a visa extension there instead of samui which i detest. thx
  14. i'll pop in and ask anyhow. i'm in Ko Phangan now which is a monumental pain for anything immigration but i'll be in Phuket in a couple of days. will check. thx
  15. i arrived beginning of December on a non-O and got a 90 day stamp. i'd like to do my retirement extension this week because its more convenient for me now. will imm let me do it now or do i have to wait until my 90 days is almost up? i plan to do in Phuket and have the 800k in the bank BTW thx
