I have a Honda CB300F. Very pleased with it. It is only a single cylinder but the speed and balance are good. Also in the region of 50k cheaper that both the Z300 and MT-03.

That was on my radar too, but made me uncertain about two things:

1.) single cylinder and can get a bit shaky in a certain RPM range

2.) tends to stuck in neutral?

This Canadian guy has a really nice no frills review:

Also, how tall are you if I may ask and how's the riding position?

    Thanks.

  2. Hello guys,

I used to have manual bikes from 50 to 125cc back in the day (41 now and weigh constant 74kg for many years now), but here I've mainly been driving or using a click and pc-ek for errands (couple of 10k kms) Looking to buy a manual bike again and wife encourages the switch too! Her dad was a biker and so was my dad. Went to Kawasaki Phuket yesterday, but W175, W250(SL) were too small. The W250 (imported from Japan) seemed nice but overpriced. Z300 still shortlisted, but if 300cc, I'd much rather go for the MT-03.

I'd use the bike for commuting and leisure rides on the island and perhaps occasional getaways to Phang-Nga where we also have land. Since the road in between is full of curves, I am not looking for fast rides, but would prefer a smooth, tamed, predictable bike. What do you guys think about the Honda CB500F? Any recommendations in the 300cc range? Or shall I start by a 150cc M-Slaz/Suzuki to get back in shape and switch again?

    Thanks!

I don't believe that there is a Nikon repair shop in Phuket.

I send my Nikon to Bangkok for repairs. (Via Big Camera to Nikon Bangkok)

Just to clarify, the one PhuketRichard is referring to is a non-official service, correct?

Back in Singapore Nikon was in my office building, just 2 floors below mine and it was super easy to do check ups, focus calibrations, etc. Think they quoted around 350 SGD to fix this, but then I was in Phuket already and didn't have 3 days to leave the camera there for repairs. The component is around 90 SGD off ebay or Aliexpress, just need someone to swap it or may dedicate a day for this next month and do it myself.

  4. Similar problem on my D800, but different.

The aperture lever control doesn't get released properly. I gets stuck randomly and from that point on the camera thinks that the stuck position is the largest aperture. Ie the subsequent shots will be heavily underexposed until the lever gets released (again randomly)

I need to have this replaced:

    https://www.ebay.com/itm/For-Nikon-D800-D800E-Aperture-Control-Unit-Repair-Part-Digital-Camera-Part/252039894849?hash=item3aaebf9741:g:ZCMAAOSw9N1VtxzM

Is Niks Co Ltd the go to place for such repairs Richard? Thanks.

    Poppadom,

By chance had your AIS Fibre contract period very recently expired and you rolled over to a new contract period....then once entry into that new contract period AIS pushed the update to you?    Or maybe the update arrived just "before" you current contract period expires?

Reason I'm asking I wonder if the forced update/neutering is occurring around the period a person's contract expires/renews?   Thanks.

Nothing like that. Contract since Dec 2015 and didn't touch since then. They doubled the speed along the way though...

AND has anyone signed up with AIS Fibre over the last few months (say since Jan 18) received a new Playbox which was neutered when you got it?  That is, it came already updated/configured where you could not add 3d party apps.

You can still add 3rd party apps, just need to activate developer options and enable USB debugging. Then you can install by hooking up the box to a PC and load the apk via adb.

Will try to figure out how to add the google account again and the use the play store.

  7. Ok, hooked up old box to my older laptop which has USB2 port and managed to start KODI using adb:

adb shell am start -n org.xbmc.kodi/.Splash

And in the meantime, I downloaded, installed (via adb install packagename.apk) and made Nova launcher the default home launcher

Problem sorted. Will disable AIS remote access later this week and it seems they disabled google play store too. Will need to re-enable that somehow. They also disabled the add account option in android settings...

  8. My playbok got updated yesterday or the day before.

I still have KODI, Deezer, etc. installed - they did not get removed, but the new UI won't let you add 3rd party apps to the menu. Only HOOQ and some Karaoke app added by default.

When I press the media button on my wireless logitech keyboard, it loads up Deezer, but I'd need Kodi instead.

Tried to hook up via USB to my laptop and sideload/run via adb.exe but won't see the device (developer options and USB debugging were switched on)

Anyone any idea? Will look into it tomorrow when I have more free time...

    Thanks!

  9. Hi guys,

I've got the attached Click 125i 2014 year model that comes with mag wheels BUT the tires are not tubeless.

Question is if I can fit tubeless tires on this particular model? Want to buy Michelin M29s or Pilot Street or the like.

Shall I order online from vpattana or any nationwide retailers I should check out in Phuket?

    Thanks,

    Laci.

Bangkok Bank's USD correspondent is JP Morgan Chase.  They clearly state that in their standard settlement instructions:

    http://www.bangkokbank.com/download/ssi.pdf

The document seems to be 11 years old, but since it clearly visible at their own website (and 1st result in Google for "Bangkok Bank SSI") I have to believe it is valid.

FX & MM settlement instructions are normally valid also for payments unless stated otherwise.

Foreign branches of banks quite seldom operate in the payments field (I know Bangkok bank does, but the service is very limited), the branches are there for access to local markets (FX & MM mainly) and to serve corporate customers.

You're right, I stand corrected. Didn't see the SSI PDF.

  11. USD transfers need to go through a first party that is registered with the FED and has a dedicated routing number.

A quick google tells that for Bangkok Bank it is their NY branch

    Intermediary:

    BKKBUS33

BANGKOK BANK PUBLIC COMPANY LIMITED, NEW YORK

    Account with:

    BKKBTHBK

BANGKOK BANK PUBLIC COMPANY LIMITED, BANGKOK

    A/C - your account number.

    People also ask

What is the routing number for Bangkok Bank?
    026008691

By stipulating the 9-digit routing number for Bangkok Bank's New York branch (026008691) in your US transfer instruction, the funds will be transferred via the US ACH system directly to the receiver's Bangkok Bank account in Thailand, for a lower fee than most other international wire transfer services.
  12. Guys,

A mate of mine is moving soon and selling his PulseTv box. Thinking of buying it but would need to know the HW specs (CPU, GPU, Ram and internal storage) See if it can run games too. Anyone could run a CPUID on his and let me know the specs - would appreciate it.

    Thanks!

  13. Guys,

Instead of flying return to Bangkok and paying consular fees to translate my IDP, I decided to do both bike and car licenses in Phuket.

    It's a 2 day thing and pre-requisites are:

-doctor's cert: my ENT doc did it for 50 baht

-residency cert: don't know how much it was a couple of months ago at local Immigration

-photocopies of passport photo page, visa page and perhaps entry stamp page (can be done on the spot on the cheap)

They only accept foreigners on certain days, don't know why is that because the video had English subtitles, but not really trying to find logics in things anymore

Did "theory" video from 8 to around 12 yesterday. Had lots of breaks and was doing the thaidriving.info online test instead

Sat for tests at 1pm - had to do 2x50 because I was applying for 2 licenses. Did that in 20 mins. They stapled the passed half-sheets to the existing batch

    Today:

-Drop off car paper sheet along with original passport before 11

-show up for bike test at 12:50, which was followed by a walk through and then the actual test. Thai nationals go first

1.) slalom then take a right turn

2.) ride along a roughly 10 inch wide stretch slowly

3.) ride into a roundabout, exit at 2nd exit and out

The car one was more chaotic: no walkthrough, just check out others how they do things

1.) When your name was hollered, go grab your car and queue up

2.) pick up e-card from booth before it's your turn

    3.) parallel parking

    4.) roundabout, exit then

5.) drive between poles forward and reverse

6.) then right turn, curb side parking and stop between two lines

Guess the lady didn't like me because she marked this last maneuver as a fail. Car front is between the two lines and not parking further than 25 cms from the curb.

No complaints as you only need to pay when they issue the license and the bike one was only 105 baht! Will only need to re-take this part the next time.

Funny how the guy inside at the counter tried to explain that the nose should be right at the middle between the two lines and that's why I failed. He also added that the curb is also included in the 25 cms... 555

    Just smiled and left...

  14. My wife called head of immi here in Phuket and he said if I deposit the required amount to a Thai bank for 2-3 months, then no problem applying for a work permit based on my multiple entry non-o spouse visa. Don't know if I want to move funds from SG to over here for that. Most probably will just do what we did with the dowry: borrow from wife's account and put back after the ceremony. :) Think the guy said 800k for 2 months, but I guess that's for the retirement visa so he may have mixed things up.
