Staying as a tourist
farangbuffalo replied to novanova's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
I would disagree with some of the above that visa exempt + extension is the best. Much less hassle to just get a 60 day tourist visa before you come and not have to bother with a trip to immigration while here. Especially since you can do an e-visa now. Cost of the TR visa would also be less than an extension. Though I guess maybe your local consulate might stop issuing them 2x per year after a while -
It is a fair comparison because nobody buys these visas for the stupid benefits. You can easily just pay for a massage, AOT limo or immigration fast lane whenever you actually need it without having to spend an extra 1m baht up front for the 'privilege'. In fact, the interest on that extra 1M baht just sat in a savings account would likely more than pay for the benefits you're likely to use each year lol I'd be willing to be bet the 1M baht version outsells the 2M baht version easily more than 10 to 1.

He hasn't missed the boat. Can apply for current package until 15th Sept. That is an agent. Official site is https://www.thailandelite.com/ --- The advice from most has always been to apply directly although I would actually consider using an agent with the deadline looming. They have a very strong incentive to make sure that your application goes through successfully before the cut off. And likely won't be getting much business afterwards lol. All of the info leaked from agents in the past few weeks has been correct and useful to know long before the clowns at Elite themselves bothered to inform members.

Just received a new passport from VFS in Bangkok and plan to leave Thailand for a while this week. I'm on a TR visa which has been extended 30 days. Can I just hand in both passports when I leave and they will put the exit stamp in the new one? Assuming that's the case since I don't have a visa to transfer but haven't been able to find a clear cut answer. Haven't quite decided if I will fly out of Bangkok or exit at Nong Khai if that makes a difference

Was looking at booking an appointment for a TR visa on 19th and noticed there is no option to book on Thursday 20th. All other Thursdays seem to have slots available. Just concerned if they are closed on the Thursday it may take an extra working day to process the visa and I'd be stuck there until Monday? Could anyone shed any light on this?

New passport and then extension

You genuinely seem bewildered judging by the amount of incorrect information in your post -
Cool, thanks. That will give me enough space for the Thai visa/entry stamp then. Cheers. Yeah was planning on going Savannakhet which I read it was fine to use at. Just checked and do have a few quarter pages free actually. The inside of the back cover is completely blank and looks just like a normal page. Not sure if they'd be willing to stamp that

I've stupidly allowed myself to get down to my last 2 pages in my passport and need to go somewhere for a single entry TR so I can book an appointment in Bangkok for a new one as soon as I get back. Does anyone know if the Laos e-visa is placed as a sticker in your passport? Or is it just the letter?

Just wondered if anyone knows if it is possible to do this? I'll be entering Thailand on a visa exempt soon which will only give me 45 days. I understand I cannot do a border bounce with my old passport while waiting for a new one but can I extend my stamp with immigration? This would give me 75 days in total which I figured would be enough time for the new passport to arrive. I was planning on booking an appointment with VFS for the day after I arrive in the country to give me maximum time. I have already asked them and they don't know if this is allowed. Thanks!
